Azariel sighed, allowing herself to lean into him for the moment, "Why hope? Who knows what they will be like?" She lowered her head to nudge gently at one of the baskets--it was wiggling enough to try to move around and escape its sibling. Another sigh, "At least we know one will probably have our personality." She finished, bemused over the realization.
"You can't be partial to either of them," She said simply, looking at him calmly, "You must know what the end result of that would be," Explaining it--even though Caelen would know himself--was too energy-consuming for her at the moment. A gentle nudge of his nose, "And that would give me license to be partial to the one that looks like you." Subtle? No, she was hardly that that anytime, let alone here.
"Stress..." Azariel repeated absently, recieving a mental image of Caelen pacing back and forth and only barely keeping himself from coming to her. It was....vaguely amusing. "I can see that Caelen," A soft laugh, "You didn't hurt Mashki coming back, did you?" She glanced away from her mate and caught Mashki's wave. She was a across the clearing and completely fine.

He braced himself a bit in case she decided to lean against him again and he wasn’t’ paying attention. They’d both get a giggle out of falling over unless one of the babes was in the way of their falling. “Oh lord.” Were babies supposed to have that much personality when they were just out of their mother? Already they were both fighting with each other…
“Awright lass, if ye’ve a mind fer me ter nae be partial ter either then I won’t be.” At least that’s what he’d say to her. Of course both would be etched into his heart and blood because they were half of him. The little green and white seemed to be decidedly frisky. “The green’ n’ white seems ter be takin’ after you. Doesna like ter be touched by the other, eh.” She’d probably whap him for that little wise-crack.
“Oh don’ ye laugh at me fer fussin’ over ye or I’ll nae do it again.” His manly pride was wounded for about three seconds before he began to chuckle, “Why on earth would I hurt Mashki? If I did that I wouldna be able ter get to ye as quickly if I had an injured two-legger.” His gave followed hers and he snorted slightly in greeting. Obviously the babies were awake so it didn’t matter if he made some noise.

A sigh, "Soo?" She grumbled, looking at it, "It'll know not to let anyone it doesn't care enough about to touch it without meaning it." She shook her head slightly, "Or maybe it just wants out of it's basket faster than the other." Another groan, "Are they going to compete against each other? I mean, that's all well and good but sometimes these competitions could even up getting them into serious trouble!" Was she fretting already? She was allowed to.
A snort, "I wasn't laughing at you, Caelen," She answered, raising an eyebrow at him, "I was laughing at the image in my head which just happened to contain you fretting. That's allowed, isn't it?" She'd be damned if it wasn't.
"Excuse me for being concerned with my two-legger," She grumbled, rolling her eyes, "And I'm quite sure that you would have been able to find us even if Mashki hadn't gone to get you." She had that much trust in him.

Caelen nearly chuckled at her grumblings, “Ah, and if the other takes after me then that’ll mean the wee one will be givin’ affection ter anybody that takes the time ter befriend ‘im ‘r ‘er.” That much giving of affection was likely to drive his dear little Azariel up the wall. Would she let the little one come up and love on her in public? Probably while they were little he was guessing. “I doubt they’ll complete. Lookit the way the black’n’green hasna gotten riled up from the others fussin.”
“Awright, so ye weren’t’ laughin’ at me.” The next question that entered his mind he had to voice. “Do ye think that our wee ones will take me accent or jest yers or a mix of both?” It would possibly depend on how much they were with him.
“I could ‘av found ye lass, but what if I stepped where I wasna supposed to an’ tripped an’ fell.” He was being dramatic right now for the fun of it. Mashki had moved relatively quickly and he hadn’t been overly impatient.. Sort of.

"But what if that one is just sleeping or something?" She retorted, eyeing them both before shaking her head. A sigh and another gentle nudge at a basket, "If they do that, at least I'll know that they've got more of you in them than just temper and looks." What would she do if the little guy went off and started hugging everyone?
.........She'd think it was cute until he reached a certain age, that was for sure.
"Caelen..." She gave him a look before continuing, "Does it matter? They probably will, with the way you're constantly around and always talking, they're bound to pick up a little of your accent." A gentle nudge to his nose was given, "Think about it, you'll have two little children running about talking as if they didn't even come from this place. With the way I'll know you'll be toward them, they're sure to have something," A rueful sigh, "No matter how much I or the rest of the family will speak otherwise."
"Then you would have gotten right back up and gone looking for us again," She replied simply, knwoing he wouldn't have hesitated in the least. He was that kind of person, her Caelen.

Caelen walked away from Az for a moment to sniff and nuzzle at the black and teal basket for a bit. This one had certainly gotten all of his darker shades of green that was for sure. The other wiggler got some of his attention too and it settled for a moment while he nuzzled at it, “Aye… and having lots of me isn’t a bad thing, at least ter me.”
He’d think it was hilarious.. And probably encourage it til he was too old to hug.
“It doesna matter except I’ve a feeling that it’ll drive me lovely mate ter distraction ter have to hear little versions o’ me an’ then the original at all times.” It’d make him giggle to say the least. “Weell, maybe they’ll jest keep having children an’ by the time that they’re all done everybody here will be talkin’ with the same accent an’ they’ll nae get any attention fer talkin’ “funny.” That made sense to him. Wait til poor Az met the rest of his extended family… Every single one of them had accents save for maybe one.
Caelen chuckled and nuzzled the baskets one last time for now before going back to her side, “I suppose that’s true enough.. If I had a broken leg and no way ter see I’dve made my way here.”

A faint chuckle escaped her, "If I cared about your accent, Caelen," She rumbled, watching him while he inspected his new children, "I wouldn't have associated with you to the point of becoming your mate, would I?" It was true. She had found his accent rather...she'd never say the word "cute" aloud but that what she thought--even if that hadn't been the case at first.
"You and your wanting to populate the world with accented people," She grumbled, shaking her head. She didn't actually believe her words, but it would be fun to say it, " They aren't even out of their baskets yet and you want children from them," A sigh, "What am I going to do with you?"
A smile graced her features, "And if you'd come into here like that I would have chewed you out for having the stupidity to not onlyget hurt, but bring your injuries to where the children were." She answered. Personally, she wouldn't have been able to stand it if he had been injured.

True enough. It seemed that some people were callow enough to care about the way a voice worked. Strange things people could be. “Ye chose ter become my mate because ye couldna resist me!” His mood was light as was usual because she was allowing it to be. They both had had a long day and it was nice just to banter a bit while they wound down.
He grinned but didn’t comment, he only cared because he wanted his little ones to blend in as easily as they could. Not that he wanted conforming little ninnies, just that life was nicer when you weren’t the oddball out. “Weell… do ye really want me ter tell ye what you kin do with me?”
He grinned at her smile, “See! All it takes is fer me ter get hurt ter make ye grin a bit.” She was the oddest mate he could have picked. She wouldn’t be happy at all if he got hurt, but in the end the idea was what made her smile a bit. Mm.. He wondered how long babies stayed in their baskets…

A raised eyebrow greeted his comments and she gave him a look of amusement, "Are you sure it wasn't the other way around, Cael?" She asked, long tail flicking slightly in the light morning breeze.
A laugh and a shake of her head, "How about we find out tomorrow when I have a bit more energy, okay?" A smile graced her features. Now that she didn't feel absolutely horrendous from being so huge--she found herself liking a few more ideas more and more. Lucky Caelen.
A snort, "I wouldn't smile if you got hurt," She replied, tossing her head, "Maybe I was smiling at something else and talking at the same time," A bit of a lie, but she could smile a tthe row they could have if he had gotten hurt. It hadn't happened so she was allowed to do whateer she pleased.

Caelen made his face expressionless and more innocent than a newborn baby. Not one of their babies because they probably had awful tempers or something close to it. But still, “I have no comment lass.”
“Mm yes.. I’m thinking’ they’ll be in there fer a coupla weeks.” That was probably just him being incredibly hopeful. Some stayed in for less than a week, some for over a month. It really just had to be decided upon by the little one that was inside. The smile on her face distracted him… To the point where he had to look away. The little tease.
“I’m glad ter know that pretty lass.” He nuzzled at her again, feeling that maybe he would go to sleep now or at least pretty soon. The little cave-clearing thing they were in made for a nice lulling place. Or he was just feeling quiet, “Mm.. I’ll nae argue with ye lass, because I canna seem ter form a single thought.”

"Havimg no comment and the fact your face has sudden taken on the clear air of innocence, you're just helping me lean toward my earlier thoughts," She warned softly, a smile growing.
"As there were only two, I was probably able to keep them longer than those who have three and less than those who only have one," She shrugged and nodded once, "So though I don't know exactly when they'll pop out--" Was she glad she wasn't referring to her own body? Hell, yes she was--"It could be during that time. We'll just have to be sure to be there when they do come out." She wanted to see them. Wanted to be the first to see them.
His avoidance of her gaze simply made things more interesting. Fun times, her life was going to be encountering soon. She couldn't wait.
She sighed and nodded once, "Arguing more could make everyone more awake," She replied osftly, eyeing the little baskets suspiciously for any movement. If they were awake inside there they must be horribly bored. She had been, from what she could remember. "We'll have to figure out how to get home when we wake up," She pointed out, throttling down a yawn. Whenever Caelen mentioned he was tired, she realized she was. That could get annoying fast.

Caelen managed to grin back at her through the sleepy haze that was finally demanding that he pay attention to. His mind was fogging slightly but he managed to keep a hold of the conversation.
Another nod, what she said made sense, “I hate ter do this to ye lass, but I have ter leave soon fer jest a few days an’ find out about Lovey. You an’ her were due at the same time. I’m planning on leaving tomorrow morning fer a week.” He’d spend all day tomorrow with Azariel and the baskets then leave for a week. What would normally take a month was only going to take a week. He’d run until his legs threatened to fall off. “I need ter see if she wants ter come back here an’ be with us, my lovely.”
This time Caelen avoided her gaze because he didn’t want her disapproval. He had spent the last seven or eight months with her and leaving now would hurt him.. Probably her too.
His avoiding gaze went down to the little baskets and he smiled, “Look lass.. The little white’n’green has decided that he ‘r she actually wants ter spend time with it’s sibling.” Caelen only wished he could know the gender. Az had probably been way too tired from giving birth to think to check what each was. Having them alive meant so much more than boy or girl… “Mm.. I kin feel yer muscles relaxin’ against mine already lass.” Looks like she was in a relaxing mood too.

Leaving? So he was leaving to go check on a herdmate, but it still hurt. Would she last a week without the constant banter between them? With only the children and her own herdmates for company? She'd die from boredom.
And she'd never admit it.
"...Oh," She replied once, thinking over the matter for quite a few moments, wondering how she could phrase her answer, "I...I see." She thought over the matter more--not wantig to start a fight for no reason at this point--she wouldn't have been able to keep it going.
"If...if you want to go see if Lovey is okay, I'm fine with that," She answered finally, managing a smile, "I mean, she's your herdmate and a friend of mine so...yeah." A shrug was offered, "Just come back home when you can." She could have said "want to" but that would have set them off most likely.
She glanced down at his statement, and smiled, "Mm...my apologies for not looking t see what gender they were," she said after a moment, realizing that the thought had never occurred to her, "I was a bit preoccupied at the time." A weary laugh, hopefully she hadn't needed to explain that.
"relaxing is good," She said softly, eyes half-lidded, "Relxing means I'll be less sore when I wake up."

Caelen pushed up against her as tightly as he could. Leaving was the last thing he wanted, but he had to be here for the babies when they were born and this was about the only way he could do that and take care of Lovey.
His heart would be torn.
“I don’t want ter leave ye.” He’d become a home-body wanting nothing more than to just spend the day at home doing nothing but grazing and talking and playing. Why did Lovey have to have babies at a time like this. “I canna leave ye once they hatch an’ this is me only time.”
“Neither ‘o us are fine with it my lovely.” Was his quick reply and the pressure on her neck intensified a bit more, “I’ll jest be seein’ if she wants ter come here an’ I’ll find an escort. As soon as I find her it’ll be less than five minutes before I’m on me way back ter ye an’ our little babies.”
He chuckled slightly and grinned into her ear, “Oh.. I think that yer pardoned fer not carin’ too much at the time.” Very few parents probably ever thought to check for something like that. “We’ll jest both be surprised.” He had to be here when they came out of their little wicker holders. He’d never forgive himself if he wasn’t.
“Mm aye, ye did so good fer the last eleven months but I canna help but be thankful yer discomfort’s over.” It had made him ache to see her wince.

Azariel nodded simply, " I know, I understand, Caelen," she assured him, wanting to somehow chain him to home. That wasn't possibly and fussing about this wouldn't make the matter change. If he took longer than a week though...
"Promise...?" She wanted to throttle herself for even asking that in the tone she did. As if she was almost pleading. Humph! Even if Caelen never came back she'd live and raise the children right. It'd still be better if he was there.
"We could always ask Mashki," She pointed out, bemused, "But I doubt she'd say a word about it. She's fickle like that." A sigh and a glance at the woman, who was currently busying herself with some sort of task. "But surprises are good." She personally couldn't waitto see who and what they turned out to be.
"I can't help but be thankful it's all over too," She retorted, bemused, "It's not going to happen again either," At least not for a loooong time.
