Irelia's eyes widened, "A castle? That's what I was making too..."
She curled her mouth in to a frown.
"I need to make mine better. He's going to eat me if my castle isn't as nice as yours."
Irelia scampered back on to her stool.
"Daddy!!!! Get me some candies!" Irelia was reaching for the candy bowl but it was too far away. Asher was taking too long and she strained her arms as far as they would reach and knocked the bowl slightly. It came a little closer to her, and she hooked one finger in to it and pulled.
She was a little too exhuberant as the candies spilled all over the table and the floor.
"Ooopsies."

"Ah, of course," she gave an apologetic little bow, "I am Tonbo Shiori of the Dragon Order, from the Peridot Clan."
She was sure that none of that meant anything to this woman, but felt inclined to introduce herself fully anyhow-- she did not want to forget her heritage despite the strangeness of this place. She held Kisala up for the other to see, "And this is Kisala, my adoptive child."
She looked in to see the other children playing with candy and such and let out a bit of a breath, realizing that they were not talking of constructing real houses, but only these small things.
"If you have tea, I'll take some," she said softly at the woman's offer of coffee to the men, "If not, that's fine."
She set Kisala on the bench, and the toddler looked at the gingerbread pieces eagerly. Quickly, she snatched up two pieces and began banging them together violently, then crunching up the pieces that fell.
Shiori sighed, "I don't suppose you've a broom, do you?" she asked, taking the gingerbread from Kisala, who looked indifferent about it and began snatching up pieces of candy from the floor after climbing down off the bench, and stacking them instead.
"I'll clean it up."

The problem with Irelia's theory was that Antony was a perfectionist. His gingerbread house was starting to resemble the one on the box top with an almost eerie accuracy. He had only glanced at the picture twice, as well.
Shade, on the other hand, was now sculpting a gingerbread "woman" with frosting and twines of licorice for hair. It was actually really well done, since he was an artist, but not what they were looking for.

Beth heard the bell right again and walked out with her hands all full of unbaked gingerbread. A young boy and a younger girl were in her shop and the little one seemed to be ready to burst everywhere if she wasn't sat down with something constructive.
"Hello, children. I'm Beth, Irelia's aunt. We're making gingerbread houses in the back, would you like the join us?" Beth watched the little girl and said wisely, "Don't worry if you make a bit of a mess. Its usually messy in the back after a long day, so a mess earlier doesn't matter much."
Beth motioned them in and walked in to the back, where she heard Shiori requesting a broom.
"Ah no. I was just telling these youngsters that there's no need to be worried about cleanliness. I'll be cleaning up at the end of the day so just have fun!"
Beth looked at the already large mess around her and grinned.
"Asher also volunteered to help."
Irelia edged closer to the new girls and grinned.
"HIIMIRELIAANDIAMPLEASEDTOMEETYOUWANTTOMAKECASTLESWITHME?" Irelia was more pushy than usual and motioned for the girls to join her.
So far, her castle was more of a lumpy mess, but as Irelia stared at the castle this way and that, she began to move things and managed to make it look more like a house and less like a pile of gingerbread and icing.

Kai smiled sheepishly, looking a little awkward at being adressed as a child. Though he quickly brushed it away with the excuse that Beth was just busy and had probably been talking more to Riley and the other little girl near by. At least, that's what he told himself. It wasn't exactly a compliment to be called a kid when you were 27. But while he was a worry wort, he was also a people person and dealing with this wasn't anything too horrible. "I'm Kai, and this is my younger sister Riley," he said politely with a small smile, "And...if you're going to offer her free reign to make a mess I'd best offer to help clean."
Riley blinked as Irelia exploded with greetings and invitation. Make...a castle? She paused with furrowed brows to stare at Irelia skeptically and then at her blob of cookie and icing. "Doesn't look like a castle," she said pointedly. She grinned right afterwards though, "I'll help if ya let me eat it. Hehe!" Even if it looked more like a dirt pile then a castle it was still bound to be tastey! So she threw herself over to the other children with long, quick steps.

"She has to make it better so the demonking doesn't eat it," Antony said with a little smile as he looked up from his own "castle." He didn't live in a castle, and had only seen them on television, but he figured it was bigger than the one he was making. He would have to add more rooms. "I'm Antony, and you are?"

Kisala looked up at the older girl, not quite catching everything the other said. Well, really, not catching any of it. She did watch as Irelia started putting together pieces of Gingerbread, though, and clambered back onto the bench to imitate her.
Shiori sighed. She disliked disorder in most circumstances, but she wasn't about to insist on cleaning up. The woman was probably right, anyhow-- there wouldn't be much point in cleaning now.
The asian-looking woman took a seat next to Kisala and proceeded to help her put the pieces of gingerbread together, "Here, you'll have to put this frosting on it to get it to stay at all."

The idea of someone else eating her castle...
"NO! My castle! You can help if you wanna but you should eat the candies and the icing and the broken pieces," Irelia's eyes grew wide, "If you eat it... I dunno what the Demonking will do to you but it will be bad bad. Here," Irelia offered some of the candies that she had knocked over, her hands all sticky.
She continued to raise the sides of the castle, slowly straightening them and following Antony's lead.
"Not fair," She mumbled as she saw how nice his looked and how ugly hers was. She stuck her finger in to her mouth and started sucking off the icing.
Beth was back and handed the children more icing and more gingerbread and nodded to Antony's creation.
"Very good dear! Once you're old enough I may have to hire you to help me with cakes! My dear little dumpling is not very patient with it..."
She handed Irelia a large sheet of gingerbread and Irelia quickly cut out hearts and stars. She turned towards Beth and concentrated hard.
Beth bakes things and makes them pretty... maybe i can find out her secrets
Irelia sat in her stool, not blinking.

"Pshh! That's the best part, eating it!" she scowled, looking a little sulky. She did take the candies though. "Well, I think the demonking is going to come eat you. It doesn't look like a castle," Riley said in a matter of fact way, settling down on the bench with her tail-feathers fanned out a little and her legs swinging back and forth. "I can punch him if he comes though," Riley assured Irelia before perking her ears and glancing at Antony, "Hu? Oh! I'm Riley!" She hadn't noticed him right away, but she wasn't sure why. Now that she did however, she couldn't stop staring with puzzlement. Finally she asked, "Why are you in a funny outfit?" She didn't see much out of her five brothers aside from T-shirts and Jackets.

Antony blinked, looking down at his dress shirt and tailored jeans. "I try to dress properly," he said with a shrug. "I like to look my best."
That was an understatement, to say the least.

The comment seemed to go completely over Riley's head. She didn't even know there was a "proper" way to dress. She just knew what was comfortable. And her tanktop and baggy pants were very much so. His clothes? Not so much. "Best...?" she frowned a little, perplexed. "You look silly," she said bluntly, though there wasn't meant to be any attack in her comment. It was just what she thought. She always said what she thought. Shrugging it off she reached forward, pulling some of the cookies towards her and sticking her fingers in some of the icing. Well! If she couldn't eat Irelia's castle, she would make her own and eat it. Yeah!

His eyes narrowed for a brief second, his irritation showing before he shrugged and smiled. "I like how I look," he said simply before going back to work on his castle. He started adding windows made of miniature kisses and white frosting.

Kisala watched the bigger kids talking, but said nothing. Instead, she started eating some of the candy and began mashing the gingerbread pieces together again now that nobody was paying any attention to her-- Shiori had zoned out, rather obviously meditating despite being surrounded by the children.

Irelia shook her head, breaking contact with Beth's secrets. She started working manically, fixing her castle and making it actually look halfway decent.
"I can kick him too you know, but he's too strong and dark and evil and invis-a-ball. If we make it nice enough maybe he won't come because its too pretty to destroy and then we can eat it!"
Irelia was tired pretending about the demonking and quickly forgot about him.
"What are buttresses?"

"S'ok! Imma super strong, I'll still get him for ya," Riley commented easily, biting her tongue a little in concentration as she worked on her own "castle" or whatever.
Well, if Irelia's castle looked like a pile of dirt then Riley's looked like a creation straight out of the black lagoon. She was hardly artistic or coordinated and it showed as she mashed her pieces of cookie together with bits of icing in a futile attempt to have them stick together anything remotely like a building. She broke most of her cookies and smeared icing all over her fingers. Despite how badly she was doing she seemed to be enjoying it. So it was no surprise when she reached out for gumdrops to put on the "house" and then a tube of decorative icing. The bad thing about it all was that she sort of...grabbing the tube to hard. Suddenly icing was squirting everywhere, all over her face, hair, and then when she squawked and turned her hand it shot across the table at Antony's creation and the boy himself. "Oops!"
