She watched Zeki squirm, her rounded ears swivelling forward as she watched him look about for his friend as well. Snorting softly, she shook her head, "You can kill what you want, that doesn't make it prey beast, just makes it dinner." She grinned broadly at that, no matter how unladylike it was. It was the truth in her own mind, crimson eyes widening as she observed Zeki turning and pulling his friend out into the open.

Ah, there was that well-known hyena chuckle. Tilting her head to one side, she listened for a few moments before hefting herself to her feet and crossing the short distance between she and the pup. A small paw lifted before batting him over the head imploringly, as if investigating the strange creature before leaning forward to flop her front legs over his stomach. "You're strange, Ophos."

Ophos gave a small umf noise before grinned up at her. "Strange? No, you just haven't met someone as awesome as me," he was starting to act more like a male, the more jerk-ish sort. This was the one he only revealed to some, but it was mostly for fun. He grinned and nipped at her paws. "Are you going to let me up or is it that you can't keep your paws off me."

Zeki chuckled to himself as he moved onto the other side of him. Looking down at him and then to Safuma and down back to him. "That was really lame, Oph." he chuckled as he smiled. "Does Miss Safuma want to go somewhere or do something today?" he inquired, curious as to what the female, the highly respected gender in the area, wanted to do. To Zeki, the girls always went first.

"Sheesh, do you call everyone 'Miss'? You even called my sister that too." The hyena questioned.

"Sure do, "Miss Ophos"," the cub laughed as he joked upon it. Only the young females were called 'Miss', sometimes the older ones too. The older males where called 'Mr.' but that was hardly the case as everyone else would be called their names without any form of formality.

Arching a brow at the hyena, she scoffed as she lifted herself off him and rolled her eyes, "Hardly. I've met plenty of more awesomer people than you." Her crimson eyes darted to Ezekiel as he spoke, her flickering though she didn't even take note that he'd referred to her with a formality. Granted, Safuma was used to it, but when Ophos noted it, she took in the fact that Zeki bestowed the honorific to all females. How mannerful of him.

"I don't notice it, everyone calls me 'Miss'." Looking between the two of them, she shook her head and shrugged, "I didn't have anything in mind. You guys came to see me, anyways, you're supposed to have the plan."

Ophos rose to his paws and shook out his fur, Zeki got off him and stretched out a bit. It seems whenever he called her 'Miss Safuma' it was nothing outside of her normal formalities. She was the daughter of the Queen of the Pride Lands, everyone respected her highly so his own formality must have been overlooked as a usual thing for her. It felt as if... it had lost it's meaning. The cub smiled softly to himself and then to the female.

"Alright then, I'll just call you Safuma since everyone else calls you Miss Safuma. Alright?" Zeki chuckled.

Ophos felt a slight out of place feeling here. They seemed a lot happier without a third wheel there. He wagged a bit and stepped forward. "Hey, guys, I'm gonna head back home before my family notices that I am gone. You guys do your thing and I'll be off." he spoke, nudging Zeki briefly before dipping his head to Safuma. "Laterz you two."

Without another word, he disappeared into the grass. What did he mean 'do your thing'? Zeki cocked his head a bit. "Ophos?..."

She shrugged but inevitably smiled at the other cub, glad to be referred to by simply her name rather than any other honorific by him. It definitely had more meaning than 'miss' - afterall, only the closest could refer to a princess with such casuality, no? Her crimson eyes darted toward Ophos as the hyena spoke, frowning as her brow furrowed, "Do our own thing?" She was minorly concerned by the abrupt exit, concerned she might've said something to upset the pup.

He was gone, however, and she was left with her lips twisted in a thoughtful expression before she looked to Zeki, "What's with him?"
PostPosted: Tue Jun 26, 2007 12:18 pm

"He has to go home at weird times," he spoke as he got up a little. "He is a hyena of the graveyard and has to go back before any of the Pride Landers notice him or before the hyenas notice that the son of one of the strongest pair of the graveyard's pack is missing. He has limited time to hang out with me so, I try to make the best of it."

He chuckled a bit as he smiled at her. He was sort of hoping the pup would leave sooner than later, he was looking forward with some time alone to play with Safuma. Lion play. Ezekiel stretched out lightly and nudged her a bit.

"Hey, I thought I said you could call me 'Zex'. You know, not many can really call me that, not even my dad," the cub spoke with a fake wisdom like tone as if a teacher from the west telling their student a very special and omnious message or some sort of moral. "It's a special thing, y'know?"

He winked.

She bumped her head against the other cub's shoulder, ears folded back as she pushed against him gently before raising her head again. Her eyes were wide at the explanation for Ophos' disappearence, frowning slightly, "A Graveyard hyena? Isn't that like, the worst ever?" She had thought her mother had told her about them, or perhaps it had been one of the nannies. They hated lions, and that was likely just an understatement. Her frown deepened as she looked at her friend, "Be careful, Zex," that made her grin mildly before it faded, "Don't need you to get killed or anything. Maimed. Mauled. Turned into prey beast."

Grinning broadly at her lists of possible outcomes, her tail flicked against the dust before she pawed at his head for the wink. Zeki was a wierd one, that was for sure. Purring softly, her hind legs folded so that her rear fell with a little 'thump'. Seated, her crimson eyes took in her surroundings with interest. "What's your dad think of you being friends with a hyena?"

He chuckled at Safuma's actions. Princess or not, she was still a cub just like him. She should play and have fun, do things cubs do. His head tilted when she spoke of the Graveyard hyena pack, the one led by Mafa and her pack of blood-thirsty, lion-hating beasts. "They are. Ophos tells me that all the time how things are there. It's rough, really harsh and it pushes them to live on edge. I guess that is why they are so mean..." he smiled innocently, almost unknowing of the meaning "dangerous". "Don't you worry about me, Safuma, I can take care of myself just fine. And then some!"

His ears fell back and his head looked down at his paws. "My Dad... doesn't know," he replied. His red eyes looked away for a second and then back. "that is why I told you, I trust you with this secret. If my Dad-no, if anyone from the Pride Lands found out..."

"Yeah, you say that and then the next time I hear about you, you were mauled to death by a hyena trying to play hide and seek with Ophos." Her cynical smile melted into a frown at that thought, suddenly concerned that that was exactly what would happen if Ezekiel wasn't careful. Her tail slid through the dirt to wrap around her hind paws somewhat before her crimson eyes returned to the other cub and she smiled once again.

"It's okay, Zex, I won't tell your dad. Do you really think your dad would be mad, though? He seemed... like you, kind of." She knew what her parents would do, and what most of the nannies would do. It was best that it was kept a secret unless Zeki felt safe enough to tell someone.
PostPosted: Sat Jul 21, 2007 3:44 pm

"Trust me, I know Ophos would not do that. His sister is even nicer than he is most of the time and I only met her a pawful of times. Ophos can be rough sometimes but nothing I can't handle and at most it would only be some cuts and little bruises. Those will heal up quickly," he knew Ophos very well, enough to know that he was uneasy on the topics of females. At least, on his part. If it were on another's side of the story-say, Zeki and another female, he would freely speak about such things and most likely taunt, mock, and tease the cub. The hyena was a strong hunter and a good member of the Graveyard pack, but outside of that horrid place, he is like any other youngling... sort of. Zeki watched as Safuma's smile melt into a frown. "Don't worry about me, I can take care of myself and if worse comes to worse, you can tell someone about it. I know I won't be able to tattle on my friend, I stand by my promises..."

He rose to his feet and stretched out a bit, rubbed his ear from when she had tugged on it, and sat back down. "My Dad has already met this family of hyenas, he seems to even know the father. Not the best time either, it was the first time I have seen him so defensive... it was scary. If my father ever found out that Ophos was with me, even more, in the Pride Lands, he would go back to the den and may do something drastic. So best to keep this a secret..."

"Alright, enough about this little secret of ours, lets go do something. Something fun."

She couldn't help the nervous giggle that bubbled from her throat, ears swivelling backwards as if searching for the sound though she knew it had come from her own mouth. Giving him an easy, apologetic shrug accompanied by a sort of grimacing smile, she nodded, "Wouldn't want your dad on our bad side, I'm guessing. He's pretty big." Her crimson eyes glanced over her shoulder somewhat, as if expecting Ger to leap from the high grasses quite unexpectedly or, worse still, Ophos' family. Anxiety was a new feeling to Safuma and her tail swatted the ground violently before she shifted her weight to one side and leaned in that direction as Zeki suggested they do something fun.

Giggling, much brighter and more 'Safuma' once again, she raised a brow at him, "Now what could be more fun then sharing dangerous secrets?" Pulling herself to all fours, she bumped her side against him as she walked past, flicking her tail in his face playfully before stepping through the grass as she spoke, "Let's go visit the watering hole. I could use a drink after all this excitement."

Zeki grinned at her somewhat. She was a strange, but special girl. Princess of the Pride Lands and all that, but to him, she was just a normal girl. He rose to his paws and stretched out a bit before giving chase, a few steps ahead of her, leading her. After all, cannot have a her getting hurt. He looked back and smiled that innocent smile. She was so fun sometimes, no wonder why he liked hangout with her sometimes. Too bad she had her own things to do with the royal family and all that.

"The water hole you say? You like the water don't you, that is where I met you for the first time, remember?" he asked, walking at a steady pace no rush needed. The time he spent with Safuma felt good, actually being with someone different for a change other than with his father that he sees and with everyday. Or with Ophos, paranoid of who may see him.

"Dangerous secrets, huh? Now, what dangerous secrets do you have, Safuma, Princess of the pride lands~" he purred with a hint of playfullness.

Sometimes she wondered if it mattered if she got hurt. Of course, her parents would be upset, but she didn't think it'd be quite so critical to the pride as if Sarakiva or her brother were injured. Safuma was a normal cub, even if her status in the pride made her a tad special. Her rump moved with the swaying of her tail, mouth slightly agape to show her teeth (as cubs often do) as she followed her companion. Sometimes she didn't know what she'd do without Zeki to keep her sane, especially not that Zu was off playing with other cubs now.

"Of course I like water!" She took a swat at his rear, keeping her claws tucked before scampering forward a few steps, "It's hot outside and the water's usually a bit cooler. Hippos have the right idea." She nodded almost philosophically at that before giving a bit of a giggle. "But I'm no hippo."

Dangerous secrets, no. Safuma was often an open book and never got into heaps of trouble. Nevertheless, she made a joke of it, "Oh yah. I've got this one friend who introduced me to the strangest of creatures. Momma would kill him if she knew." She nodded as seriously as she could manage, with a soft grin.

Zeki was often a very active cub that found great fun in other's company. Usually, he would be with his father and they would do things to keep him occupied for a great while with their morning runs and travels. He has gone quite far for a cub. If it weren't for his friends, Ophos, Leji, Pam, and especially Safuma, he would have gone bored out of his mind. He was glad he was able to get some alone time with those his own generation. Undoubtly, his father is probably hunting right now to keep himself active.

His maw curled into a smile, that oh so innocent smile. "Hippos may love water but so do many others like crocodiles and snakes. The water may be a dangerous place to be some times so you have to know where you are and be familiar with it. My Uncle says that you should always keep your mind open to any dangers that could arouse. Oddly, he is the one who swims in the ocean where there are even more dangers. Strange, huh?" he smiled and nudged her when she came close. "Don't worry, I'll be more than enough to take on any dangers."

He perked a bit when he heard her 'dangerous secret', curious... "Oh? Who's that?"

Safuma's interraction with adults was kept as minimal as she could, escaping from nannies though there were a few that she didn't mind setting around with at dusk before bed time. Right before it was time to sleep and right after a good romp, when everything feels really hazy and dream like even though you're wide awake. She liked those times best at the end of a good, well-run day. Most of her time was spent with cubs her own age, however, doing her best to find the best adventures while staying in the least amount of trouble.

She couldn't help but arch a brow at Zeki, listening to him speak. As he warned her, she plopped onto her rear end and tilted her head slightly to one side. A paw reached out to pull his tail to her mouth when he finished, tiny cub teeth searching for a hold as she giggled, "Zeki, you act like a grown up. But yeah, sure, you try to protect me from a crocodile."

When he looked at her with what she read as feigned innocence before grasping that he honestly thought she spoke of someone knew, she laughed once more as her tail swung over the dirt behind her, "You, silly!"
