my gut reaction is to want to kill them, of course.
that Couey guy that raped and killed Jessica Lunsford makes my skin crawl, and i would never want anybody like that on the loose.
but are we sure, completely 100% sure, that the people we convict are guilty?

http://www.innocenceproject.org/about/ has freed hundreds of convicts from death row, by using DNA evidence. prosecutors, judges and juries agreed they were guilty and should die, but they were all wrong, and the DNA proved it.
a couple dozen had even confessed, but were still completely innocent (there is great psychological pressure applied to force a confession).
so since we can't be sure we are killing the guilty and not the innocent, i would just give them a life sentence without possibility of parole.
that way i won't risk having innocent blood on my conscience.
