Kafiri smiled over a Mezi briefly when he agreed to do whatever Matojo might suggest, because she wasn't sure that play was something he generally enjoyed- after all, they'd dug a whole and picked flowers, that wasn't quite the same kind of play. She looked back to Matojo as he started to make suggestions, not caring much for the playfight idea- tag or hide and seek sounded most like something she might like to play, but she wasn't sure about them.
"I like hide and seek," she murmured quietly, glancing over at Mezi and then back to Matojo, "Or whatever you both want.."

Mezi smirked a little. It seemed his two dear siblings were a bit on the indesicisve side. Either that, or they had incredibley good manners. He was neither of these, and so ended up going along with his sister's suggestion. "Hide and seek sounds like a good idea to me. Since there's three of us..." Hide and seek wasn't something that was easily played with only two, so having three warrented playing it. Besides, he doubted that Kafiri would actually get in on a play fight. It wasn't that he thought she was weak or anything, but that she just wasn't the type.
He looked around him slowly, as if trying to find a future hiding place. After flicking his tail lightly, he looked at the male next to him. "I'll be it if nobody else has a dyin' need to be it." He doubted that anyone would, though Matojo might want to hunt or something.

"Sounds good to me. You count and we'll hide." He nodded, already trying to think of decent hiding places. Really, his first instinct was to climb a tree but that was hard for young cubs to do, usually. Though there was a half fallen tree he knew of, maybe that'd do...
"I'm happy with that."

Kafiri looked a bit surprised that they both agreed to do what she wanted, even Mezi agreeing so quickly surprised her. The more time she spent with her siblings, the more she found they weren't so bad after all. Mezi especially, and seemingly Matojo. She was hesitant to agree to Mezi counting, unsure if he really wanted to do it, but decided to go along with it as Matojo did.
"Ok, let's hide then," she nodded, looking at Mezi and waiting for him to look away and start counting.

"Okay, ready? Go!" He quickly turned around and placed his head on the ground, rump and tail high in the air. He placed his paws over his eyes and yelled out his muffled count. "One, one thousand, two, one thousand, three..." He trailed off with his counting, keeping time with the 'one thousand' inbetween numbers. It was a trick he had picked up somewhere, though he wasn't entirely sure where. While he counted, he mentally looked at the area about him. A nifty little feature he had seemed to be born with was a photographic memory of sorts, perhaps gifted to him by his seer powers, though he was unaware of them at the time. Having scanned the area just before volunteering to count, he now had a pretty could view of what was in plain sight behind him to study while he counted. As he neared the end, he tried to figure out where his siblings were most likely to hide in the limited picture he had. Somewhere low, obviously. As far as he knew, they couldn't climb yet, like him.

Matojo grinned at Kafiri before he ran off as silently as he could. He'd run roughly in the right direction as far as he could remember, so he started his swift search for the half fallen tree. The undergrowth was thick and tall enough to make it a harder task than it would have been for a taller creature but eventually he found it.
Half-rotton and hollow, the great tree had fallen and wedged itself against/in the branches of it's neighbours. Careful, mindful of his weight on unsound wood, he started up the semi dark tunnel of the trunk until a split. From there he crawled out into the open air again and was stunned. A few tufts of fur were caught on the rough sides and his scent trail'd be fresh but he figured it was a good hiding place.
It was not quite climbing a tree vertically, but he was high up and the vendance was stunning. Green and sunnier than below. He settled himself beside a branch - stronger than a bare stretch of trunk and he really didn't want to fall from this height. Matojo could almost forget his siblings and their game, looking about.

Kafiri was eased by Mezi's quick agreement and turning to count, and hesitated in taking off to find a place for her to hide. She hadn't thought of any good places off the top of her head- except for her hideout, which was too far away and if it wasn't it would be the first place Mezi would check. Or so she'd think. Matojo had time to slink off unnoticed, so her Plan B was quickly foiled- she wouldn't be able to follow him and hide wherever he hid with him.
So, needing to think fast, Kafiri turned around and darted away from Mezi as quietly as she could manage- which wasn't actually very quiet, but they were all only cubs after all. When she felt she was far enough away, she stopped again to take a look around for a good hiding spot- and for fear of running out of time and being found in plain sight she darted into a bush.

The cub listened as intently as he could to his siblings running off to hide. After a few more numbers, he opened his eyes and looked around the surrounding jungle. "Ready or not, here I come!" Dropping to the ground for a sort of dramatic affect, the youngster slinked along the floor, making a great deal of noise. He followed the path of his brother, coming to the base of the decaying log in no time at all. Fortunatley for Matojo, Mezi quickly abandoned the log, not believing the rotted wood could've held his brother's weight.
Moving on, the purple cub continued the search for his sister, figuring she would be someplace either at ground level or somewhat below it. After a few moments of searching, however, it was becomming quite clear that Mezi was not a master tracker.

Mato saw what he decided must have been his brother (they all had very distinctive colours, this litter) come and go from higher up. It made him purr gently deep in his throat. Leopards were supposed to do this! Be up-on-high, able to see the movements below and feel the golden warmth filter through the green above...no wonder mother had been annoyed when she'd been cub-bound to the ground. It was wonderful.
That's it, forget the game! The others just had to try this...
Turning to go, confident they'd love it and of his own ability to get back down, Matojo turned, stretching out a paw to go back down through the log - and snatched it back. Scared. Had the wood started to give a little? Had it? Not knowing the saying, he looked down and his eyes widened in fear. it was such a long fall! No way he was moving, no way!
To afraid to move and to embaressed to try calling, the little leopon dug his claws into the bark of the more stable branch and let his ears fall back. Who ever heard of a leopard being scared of the ground? Must be the stupid lion in him. Mother was going to be annoyed, if he ever got down.

Kafiri was very good at staying still and quiet, a skill she had aquired in her efforts to keep off of their mother's nerves and out of any trouble that the chaos of being with all 5 of her siblings at once could cause. She was just patient enough to last until Mezi left the log he could have found Matojo by, but the closer he got to Kafiri without her realizing it the more anxious she became and the harder it was to resist checking to see if he was nearby.
Carefully, as quietly as she could while being surrounding by leaves, Kafiri made to turn around so she could get a look out to where she'd come from and where Mezi was likely to be if he was on the right track. She caught sight of him looking directly at her in the bush (or so it seemed from her point of view!) and couldn't stifle a soft gasp. Had she been found out?

In actuality, Mezi had been spacing out and absently staring at a flower nearby Kafiri's bush. The gasp, however, brought his mind back to the game and to earth. "Found ya!" He smiled wide and bounded towards the bush excitedly, glad to have found anyone. He had been beginning to think he'd have to forfeit... or just wander around for the rest of the day until they had to go home. His pride would've taken a severe blow, and his excellent mood would have been dampered. That scenario was just so unappealing, he was elated to find that it wouldn't come true.
After reaching the bush, the purple cub took a quick survey of the area, looking for a sign of his brother. "So where'd Matojo hide?" He was just assuming that Kafiri had seen their brother run off to wherever he currently was. Assuming and hoping, really. He didn't want to have to attempt to track down anyone else. "Matoooooojo! I found Kafiri! We're starting over! C'mon ouuuut."

Time to swallow his own pride. In the short time it had taken for Mezi to find their sister, Matajo had done three very silly things. He'd looked down again and had only managed to scare himself into imagining just how hurt he'd be if he fell - his ideas probably more drastic than reality and ending in a red splat on the jungle floor. Secondly, he'd tried to move from his safe branch, splintered the wood still further and was now clinging to the branch again. And then? He'd looked down again.
Silly, silly cub.
"Meeeeeeezi? Kafiiiiiiiiiri? Is that you?" His ears picked up a bit, having heard the call and promptly flattened again. What kind of idiot got stuck up a rotton tree? He was too scared and too small to reach the nearby branch of the tree his log was stuck again. "I'm trapped up a tree!!!"

As soon as she had wondered whether she'd been found out, Kafiri realized she had given herself away- there was just something about the way that Mezi glance moved and the way he bounced over to her hiding spot. Fortunately, the girl was not too upset at being found and was just happy to be getting along so well.
"Yes, you found me," she confirmed, and crawled out from the bush. Without hesitation or thought, she shook the dust from her fur and joined in Mezi's look around. She had seen which way he had gone, and was just trying to figure out which way it was from where they were when Mezi called out to their brother and shortly got a reply. There was no question about which way it was now! Kafiri hopped off towards her hiding brother, only to stumble to a stop when he announced that he was stuck in a tree.
"Up a tree?" Kafiri repeated, sounding amazed and concerned. He'd gotten up a tree all by himself? And now he was stuck? She glanced to Mezi to see what his reaction was.

Plodding along after his sister contently, Mezi's mood only changed when he actually heard his brother's voice. For a moment, a flash of jealously was in his eyes, polluting his thoughts. Matojo had gotten up the tree? Without help? Mezi had been in a tree once in his life, sure, but there had been a leopardess there to provide a way to actually get up there. If Matojo had gotten up on his own... That just wasn't fair! The purple cub glared at his paws for a few moments, snorting. If his brother could get up the tree, surely he could get back down on his own. The star child, he'd be. The only one who could climb. Mezi'd show him, sure thing. He'd practice climbing for more and more hours of the day, spending all of his time lunging himself at tree bark, trying to scrape up the side. Yes sir, he'd climb, and he'd do it better.
His mind racing with these sticky thoughts, he lifted his gaze to see Kafiri looking at him. She was obviously concerned, and it somewhat softened Mezi. She cared about her brother, it was certain. Though there was still jealousy in his mind, and there probabley would be for a very long time, he blotted out the other thoughts, trying to focus on how to help his brother down. Though he wasn't particularly huge on the whole 'family' thing, as far as he knew his litter mates were the only other freaks in the world, and they should at least help eachother. With a sigh of defeat, he looked at the rotting trunk. "How'd you get up there? Maybe you can come back down the way you came..."

"The wood's rotton. I could try to jump to the next tree..." He glanced across at the possible way down again, trying to judge the leap it'd take. Even then he'd have to climb down that tree alone afterwards. Besides, look at where his judgement had landed him; up a tree that was too rotton!
"Mezi, you know about trees. Come and see if you can help me get out of this??" The black and white cub had noted his purple brother's interest in climbing before - though he had no idea about his trip with the elder leopardess. It was like how he focused on fighting and strength. Both very leopard-y pursuits...maybe Mezi was trying like Matojo was to pretend they weren't freaks? That they were actual leopards.
