No one knows what caused Stu's head trauma. It was either this bashing he got from a gang outside a pub one night in Germany, or, as some people might have thought, when John got angry at Stu for wanting to leave the band.

I'd probably aim more for the gang as being the cause, because a gang of people are more likely to do permanent damage to someone than one single John Lennon.

Yes, he admitted to hitting him. He was drunk and John+Drunk=Violent. It always has - even later in his life, people said his liquor tolerance was drastic. They said that after like, say, three drinks he was fine and happy and joking and really fun, but as soon as he took that fourth drink it was like he turned into a completely different, very angry, very violent person.

It's not a matter of whether John hit him or not, because he definitely did; it's a matter of whether or not John's hitting him actually damaged Stu in any way.

I dont think that it was what killed him, or at least I wont let myself think that way. But when John drank he went wild. I read in some books that one time (when he was on the "Lost Weekend") he drank quite a bit after having been rejected by yoko after asking to come back and he started smashing everything in the (i believe hotel or guest home, im not sure) and caused quite a bit of damage and he smashed his glasses and was screaming and they (his companions at the time, their names escape me) had to literally tie him down so he wouldnt hurt himself anymore than he already had, and then john had to pay for all the damage cos i think he ruined at least one of those golden record things.

also, he smashed one of his old friends in the face with a shovel when the guy implied that john had had sexual relations with brian epstein when they went on the vacation that one time and the friend (i want to say bob, again, im fuzzy) had to go to the hospital cos he was pretty roughed up.

i was surprised at first as well but then I rly looked at it. This was before John was mellow and calm; he was angry. Also, it wasnt just one isolated incident of haha youre a poof. People had been coming up and asking/saying/joking that he was/had turned gay with brian, which was enough to make anyone angry. Or at least it would have pushed me into anger.

john rly liked stu. im sure he was crushed when he heard he'd died. didnt he take a painting or a scarf or something of stu's after he had passed? i cant remember.
