"Dunno," another short answer as he bit into the apple again - it was already half gone, "'Gain, don't care either. Done with the twenty questions, breakfast king?" He really didn't want to talk about the two that had abandoned him anymore - it was starting to ruin his breakfast.

"Draven." He nodded slowly as he looked down to the foal. "My name is Draven... And who might you be? Or should I simply call you 'little one'?" His brow lofted slightly. "I told you that I'd find you something better than just one apple for breakfast, didn't I?"

"My name is my business too," he said, not really having a name. Wouldn't admit that either, though. Had a few that he liked, but none that were really his. "What's better than apples?"

Usually he had grass and twigs - that apple was a feast for the young foal. However, the name Draven was filed away in his memory for later use.

"Well... There are more apples, for starters." He laughed as he looked towards one of the nearby trees before glancing back down at the foal. "There is also sweet grass down by the stream, better than any grass you'll find just sitting around under these trees." If he lead the foal to the stream he could begin his search for its parents... Even if the foal said they weren't around didn't mean that there wasn't some slight chance that they could be.

Good luck searching for the sorry bags of skin, that was for sure. They probably were laughing the entire time they left the basket in the woods! Who knew what beasties could have gotten him - he must have had a lucky star. "I guess I can let you find me breakfast," he said, as if Draven doing so was a huge honor.

"Let me find you breakfast?" He snorted softly, trying not to laugh again. "No, little one, this is a lesson in teaching you how to find your own. It is a good lesson for anyone to learn if they're on their own, as you seem to be." He nodded slowly as he turned, trotting towards the forest. He didn't look back to see if the foal was following him... He was pretty certain that he would.

"Same difference," Altair muttered, following after the dark stallion though still keeping his guard up. The 'little one' was starting to dig at him and make him slightly annoyed, though. Why keep bringing up his size? He didn't constantly bring up Draven's height, now, did he? No. No he did not!

"No, I'm afraid it isn't the same." He shook his head, trying not to laugh. "If I was just finding things for you then you wouldn't learn anything. I may be guiding you to a stream but... Who says I will be pointing things out to you from there?"

"Because you gotta," Altair pointed out, "Cuz then I'll know where to look next time." the foal said it as if it were the most simple thing on earth. How could the older stallion not get it? Not that he needed him, of course. He was just letting the older Soquili do it to put HIS mind at ease, not his own. Yep. That was all it was. He could take care of himself.

"There is no rule stated anywhere what I have to do." He laughed, peering down at the colt as he walked alongside him. "It is the job of your parent or guardian to take care of such things... Are you trying to give me the title of your guardian?"

Altair snorted, flicking his star-filled tail, "I don't need no guardian," he said, chest puffing up, "Been livin' just fine on my own since I came out of my basket." He was a little scrawny, actually, so he probably wasn't living JUST fine. It was hard for a foal on their own, picking up bits and pieces everywhere he went.

"Everyone needs a guardian from time to time." He nodded slowly as he continued to make his way through the forest, keeping his eyes on the path ahead. "Even I have a guardian... Crow keeps his eyes on me when he knows that no one else is. The forest can be dangerous. Even if you are just fine on your own it helps to have others around."

"I've been just fine without one," he said with a glare over to the dark stallion, "No bumps in the night have gotten' to me 'n' none of 'em will." His tail and ears flicked before looking ahead again. Prideful little bugger, he was, but that was just him. He had a lot to be proud of, really, if one thought of it.

"What about a friend? Do you have any of those?" He paused, turning to look at the foal once more. "Sometimes friends are just as important... I didn't have a family when I arrived in these lands either. My friends became my family."

The little foal grew impossibly quiet as he pondered that question, unsure how to really answer. Another long moment passed and he took a breath, "If my own family can turn their backs on me, who's ta say that a friend who has no blood relation wouldn't?"

Such a surprising question from such a young one.
