"Oh?" Stevie had to admit she was curious about that statement. "What's your oldest like? And which one is he? Fleur tells me a little about some of the other D-Corp kids he meets."
"Ligeia, right?" Fleur offered, not sure he remembered right. "You have more than one?" He had never met Terpsichore, so he had no idea Ligeia had a brother.

"My oldest... hes a good kid." He said, trying to think of how to word it, "His mode of dress and some of his hobbies sound a bit like what Fleur is into, hes also into magic and babysitting." He looked over at Fleur and gave a smile, "Yes, Ligeia. He told me about his time watching you and the others, he enjoyed it quite a bit." He was glad that his son seemed so good with the kids as often as he had Ligeia helping out in classes.
He sat back in his seat, sipping his coffee, "Terpsichore is... about the exact opposite as his brother and can be a bit of a handful but still a good for the most part. Hes has what one would call a strong personality." That was putting it nicely, "And a fetish for dragging his friends off to get piercings. He likes them so he thinks everyone needs them."
He was giving a bit of a warning to both Fleur and his parent, just in case the skunk were ever to cross paths with the snake what the outcome could be.

"Piercings?" Fleur asked, blinking his wide, blue eyes in confusion. He had never heard of that before - of course, his days were spent in the mall clothes shopping, so it was not too surprising.
"Earrings, foofy," Stevie clarified, knowing he'd heard of them with that wording before. "Among other body parts. You come home with a nose ring, and I'll amputate your tail."
"Oww..." Fleur murmured, holding his nose protectively now that he knew what they meant. "No way!" The thought of driving a metal spike through his nose was both mortifying and disgusting to him.

"Thats good to hear, Ter seems to be quite the salesman when it comes to that. He was even able to get his brother to get a piercing though I wonder if some bullying may have been involved." The last part a thoughtful murmur, he then turned as the waiter arrived with their snails and the object of their class.
"Ahh, excellent thank you." He waited for the guy to leave before picking one up, "Normally you just sort of suck them out of the shell but for you we are wanting to test the strength of your jaws which means breaking into them through their shells." He said tapping a shell with his finger.
He then sucked the snail out of its shell and set it aside, unbothered as he rather liked the taste of them, "How about you try one." Hopefully they wouldn't taste super bad to Fleur or he'd feel bad about making him break into them.

If Fleur was not covered with fur from head to toe, he probably would have turned green when Orpheus ate the first snail, but he was determined to do it and get it over with. He picked up one snail, swallowed nervously, then shoved it to the back of his mouth to bite open the shell, gagging when it proved to be much harder than he thought it would be.
Stevie was highly amused, watching her boy with a grin while Argent busied herself eating her own meal, cutting and spearing the meat with her claws as makeshift forks.

"Try using your canines?" He suggested, they were slightly sharper then the other teeth after all, "Maybe you can get it started with them, weaken the shell then use your back teeth?"
He picked one of the snails up and looking it over, checking to see if they had a weak spot to their shells.

Fleur raised his napkin to his face to prevent from being rude and coughed the first shell back out, holding it up and inspecting it the same way Orpheus was. If wild skunks could do this, surely he could too. He just needed to find the right technique.
The skunk decided to try his teacher's suggestion and started working at it with his canines first, driving them through the center of the snail's spiraled shell. His tail perked up when he heard something snap, and he shoved it back to his molars again to finish the job, spitting out bits of shell and gagging when he swallowed the snail itself.
"Oh, yuck!" Fleur coughed much to Stevie's amusement.

"That bad?" He asked, trying not to laugh at the face that Fleur was making when he tasted the snail. He didn't think they were as bad as that but then again not everyone liked the same sort of foods, "Well I will take the crunching as a good sign, means you figured out how to get into them. How about we try to figure a way to spilt the shell in half? That way you can pop it in half but not have to eat it."
He drew a line along the center of the snail's shell to show his idea to Fleur. A couple more snails broken into and he would call it good, he was giving suggestions now so that he have to taste the snails if he thought them bad tasting.

Fleur frowned and looked over the shell, twitching his ears as he thought about how to approach it. He first tried weakening it with his front teeth, but that did not work at all since he could not get his jaw's full strength into the bite. The skunk then tried shoving it into his mouth again only halfway this time, using his front molars instead of the back. With a little more room and leverage, he was able to get a better grip on the shell, and with the extra pressure, it snapped more easily than the last though it still did not split cleanly down the middle.
"Better?" Fleur asked after spitting out pieces of the shell. He still accidentally swallowed the snail itself, but it was not so bad. His initial reaction the first time was because he had not been expecting it though he would still be reluctant to eat escargot willingly again.

"Very well done." Orpheus said, taking the shell from Fleur to look it over, "I am quite impressed. How about you open one more as cleanly as this and we will call it good. You will have your passing grade and can go to eating the other food your ordered." He said, jokingly. He would then dig into the remaining snails that were on the plate.

Fleur nodded and did as he was told, trying with the other side of his mouth this time to see if there was any difference. Using his left teeth actually made a slightly cleaner break though it took a little more effort than the previous try. He made sure he did not swallow this slug, however, setting it on his napkin.
Setting aside the shell, Fleur raised a hand to rub his now tired jaw and asked, "Do you think I'll have to do this for something other than food any time?" He was very curious - he supposed skunks in the wild used their jaws only for food, but maybe he should work to make his jaws stronger if necessary. His natural odor was a defense mechanism, after all.

Orpheus seemed to think on it for a moment, "Well people use their teeth for all sorts of things aside from food, I've used them to open bottles that were stuck closed before, to bite through those plastic loops that come on cloths and shoes, various other small tasks that scissors would have worked better for but I didn't feel like finding any..." He gave a laugh, "Just think when and if any of those situations or anything like them comes up you will be well prepared because your have much stronger jaws."

Fleur blushed a little at the thought, thinking back to the many times he had used his teeth to do such things but never really realized he was doing it.
Stevie picked up one of the split shells and grinned before speaking, "You know, I could probably find a use for those teeth of yours." Fleur's ears drooped back at that. He knew his guardian - when she got that look in her eyes, it was never a good thing.
"Am I going to have to tell Chrysler to keep the fire department on call for the next two weeks?" he asked. Stevie's experiments never went without blowing up at least once. Fleur looked to his teacher, exasperated. "It never fails - she blows up the lab every time she does something new."
"Hey!" the scientist interjected in her own defense. "While that may be true, name one time where I blew up the lab and didn't get something right as a result!" Fleur shook his head. It was a paradox, but she was right. The explosions always meant she was on the right track.

Orpheus watched the exchange between the parent and child before he gave a smile, shaking his head as he pulled a familiar to Fleur bag from his pocket and dumped something out onto his hand, "Here you are, a gift to you for passing the class and for surviving eating snails." The last part he couldn't help but add then held out his hand. "Now, lets eat up and then order some sort of overly sugary dessert." He said to Fleur and Stevie, he was always happy when the students did well and passed. (( One last post from you and it can be called good. ^_^ ))

Fleur squeaked and took the gift from his teacher, blue eyes lighting up and tail swaying up and down happily. "Thank you!" he yipped in delight, looking over it closely in one hand while his free hand busied itself feeding him before it food grew any colder. "What kind of dessert do they have here?"
"I read something about a big brownie with ice cream - a la mode if you want to get fancy about it," Stevie answered him, halfway finished with her own food. She turned to Orpheus and lowered her voice though she need not worry too much about Fleur listening since he was completely distracted by his new bauble. "Thanks for making this such a good time for him," she said. "It's not often anymore he gets this enthusiastic about anything other than shopping." She knew things would be back to normal tomorrow, but at least for now he was having fun.
