Feck.
Well, that about summed up how he felt in response to her sudden glance. Apparently the fates weren't favouring him in this race and with a snort he pushed himself forward once more. Game over (so to speak), now he would concentrate on trying to get up that slope, he had no doubt that the shifting sands would be like the muddy slopes of the mountains and that would prove troubling if he couldn't hit them with enough speed.
GO!
Thrusting his limbs forward his strides once again lengthened and he slipped passed the mare with a coltish smirk on his lips - he wasn't going to let that comment lie, he'd been taught much better than that.
"On the contrary," He offered a wink, "Just admiring the view."

Her turn to enjoy the view, she didn't follow the stranger's reckless pace, hooves speeding only enough to carry her up the dune to maintain the spectacle. The colt's scent grew heavier with each breath she took, and she hoped he would not disappoint her by collapsing dead into the sand.

Accustomed the the slopes (and the cool air that came with them), he shot up the dune like a bullet only to stumble and wheeze like an elderly and retired stallion. Lowering his head in an attempt to regain his breath, it reached a point where he began to curse the sun for even existing - his thick coat was completely incapable of handling this heat.
"Urgh." He gave another grunt of weariness, eyeing his own legs as they wobbled in a similar fashion to that of a new born foal. Now he hadn't felt this sensation since he was a new born and this time he didn't have his uncle to drag him round. He sincerely doubted he could latch on to her tail and be dragged back to the shade either.
"Need," His knees gave way and he slumped on the dune, his head swaying somewhat as he attempted to regain both his breath and composure all at once, "Water...lots of it." He gasped, no longer concerned with the pretty sight before him.

The mare eyed him as he buckled to the shifting sand, and the ice was gone from her smile. "That is why this is my desert, kid." she chuckled. She circled him again, slowly, deliberately, until her tail of flame and frost both shadowed and lit his muzzle.
"You want to touch it....and you need lots of water." She smirked, and bent her hindlegs just enough to brush the icy tip of her tail against his gasping lips. "You can have both, if you make it melt." Her golden gaze burned into his. "Then we can discuss what I want and need."

Great, so she was talking in riddles now. Either that or he was beginning to hear everything but his mind had simply opted to make the words incoherent. That being said, he did stare at her when she informed him that he had to make her tail melt - did he look like a genius? He had no control over the elements and he was reasonably certain he couldn't make her tail do anything unless she wanted it to do something.
He gave another grunt, having managed to quiet his own breathing he struggled just a little to string a coherent sentence together. Half tempted to point out that her words were completely ridiculous but alas he would never actually get the chance.
The mountain horse really couldn't handle the heat.
So used to snow, ice and foul winds the warm air and continued scrutiny of the sun had worked much more swiftly upon his form than it would have on a horse from the Clearings. Thus, it was with another grunt of effort that his head fell to the sand with an unceremonious, but dulled thud.
Desert soquili were cruel things...

She shook her head. "Colt." she cajoled lowly, and the fire of her mane and tail sparked with the word. "I suppose I have to do everything myself."
The icy length of her tail didn't melt, but Biscuit found himself suddenly drenched in a frigid bath nonetheless.

It was a little like an ice cold shower, one of those annoying ones that you received in the morning. It was a well known fact that very few actually sought out cold showers, they just happened to be given them when they refused to wake up in the morning for whatever reason. He didn't normally get them either, most sane people let him sleep until he was ready to wake up.
Apparently, evil queen wasn't one of these people.
Half gasping as the water went up his nose and half gasping out of sheer surprise, his eyes shot open and it was with a rather unmanly yell that he leapt to his hooves again and stumbled away. He definitely looked coltish as he stood splayed legged, head lowered ever so slightly for balance - the gaze however, was positively murderous.
"What, in the name of the gods was THAT for?"

"You said you needed lots of water." she chuckled, and the demure expression she feigned was belied by her very knowing smile and the glint of her golden eyes. "And we are not even halfway to the sands where my herd dwells."
She trotted past him easily, then paused, and it seemed she wore the sun and the sand as a garment. "I don't think you can make it, kid."

"Oh really?" His tone was somewhat dry as she made her assumption, it was strange how she assumed he would simply follow her into such a place. Much to her disappointment she would find that he liked the mountainside and would remain there. A race he could have, a brief trip into the desert and back out again...but he sure as hell wouldn't live in the place.
Thus, it was with a brutal shake of his mane that he threw the majority of the water from his form and arched a brow. Two could play at this game, while he was naive in some things, lacked in experience, he could still play the game as he had been taught.
"Whatever gave ye the idea I had the intent of visiting yer herd, m'lady?" He enquired smoothly, although he had to admit he was really rather refreshed by the water that had miraculously appeared over him.

"That was the race." she husked, still as he shook the water from himself. "Or did you follow me for the view?"
A chuckle, and she was in motion again, movements smooth as the sand the swirled about their hooves. She leaned in, close enough that he felt the warmth of her breath. "Or did you worry an old mare couldn't take the heat?"

"Yer off yer bloody 'ead, girl." Shaking his head, the soquili seemed bemused by the entire thought. While following her had sounded tempting, her peculiar manner rang alarm bells in his head - he was almost certain she'd never lead him back home again. For that reason, he simply remained where he stood upon the sand dune and swivelled his ears occasionally - save the wind, this place was almost dead.
"I be favourin' the mountains, shiftin' sands do nothin' fer me." Flicking his tail, he glanced back towards the mountains to emphasise this point before releasing a snort. A part of him genuinely wanted to retreat to the shade once more but there was something in her words and the way she spoke that made him take heed.
...He supposed he could give it a little longer.
"'Sides, ye dinnae seem like the type who'd make tha' much of an effort fer someone else, so why should I?"

"It was you who challenged me, remember." she replied with a smile, her rich voice seeming more the purr of a great cat. Her long lashes couldn't hide the mischievous spark in her eyes, though. "I don't walk from challenges in my own tribe, kid, I sure as hells wouldn't walk from one cast by a stranger."
She was at his flanks, now, and she breathed in the scent of the sweat and heat of his exertions. She slid her cheek along his side to eye him lazily. "Do you deny me still as queen of the desert?"

No he hadn't...
His brow still raised, he surprised a shudder at her peculiar mannerisms. Her very touch sent shock waves along his spine and left him somewhat breathless. It took all of his self control not to shy away, to simply accept it and to perhaps even savour it, all the while, he was all too aware of the close proximity and the strange sensations. What was she doing to him?
"YE be the one tha' challenged me, if I be rememberin' correctly." He motioned back towards the tiny Oasis and shook his head, "By those very trees, ye be challengin' me te a race!" He pointed out, before his brow rose significantly higher as she made reference to denying her - had he missed something...?
"Yer upset tha' I be denyin' ye a race?" He asked in confusion.

Dinilawi caressed his side again, golden eyes half-lidded. "You challenged me by denying I am queen of this desert." she answered simply. "It should have been obvious this land is mine, kid." she chuckled at his eyes, growing rounder and rounder by the moment. She wondered if they'd pop out and roll down the dune if she continued.
She always loved a challenge.
With a slow step, she slid her cheek alongside him 'til she'd snaked up his neck to lip his mane with a wicked smile. "You didn't deny me a race. You denied yourself death by the sands."

"Sweetie..." Shaking his head, the stallion once again reigned in the strange sensations overcoming his body and flicked his gaze towards the mare. Already, he had began to regard her carefully, almost suspiciously - as good a flirt as he was he had never experienced attempts of seduction on his form and for that reason...he hadn't really clued in yet.
"With all due respect, ye ain't queen o' nothin'..." A somewhat colder smile flicked onto his lips, one of self control as opposed to warning. One might have said it was the type of smile conjured up by an individual who was tense and uncomfortable...or confused, it depended on how the individual perceived it.
"Ye jes' live 'ere, ye ain't the only one and I 'ardly think ye got the clout te do anythin' to them either." That said, he did tilt his head somewhat at the n** and kept his gaze firmly on the mare who seemed to have all the coins in her hand - she seemed to know how to control his body better than he could!
"So let's be frank 'ere," Narrowing his eyes to match her lidded ones, he opted to be more offensive in his approach. "Whatcha really after, eh?"
