Sevilin grabbed the two tickets and We`rika grabbed Sevilin by the hand, knowing full well he'd dart right into the planetarium without him. It was nice that the watery Frei was curious, but he had a bad habit of forgetting about others for the need to explore. So his guardian held his hand high and firmly so Sevilin couldn't wiggle away in his excitement.

When they entered the large circular building, the Huichol found it was two massive levels and most people were in groups with tour guides.

"Well we'vea go' a lotta time t'kill before th'show... Do we wanna grab a gro--"

"No, I wanna learn on my own! Groups are too slow!"

"Bu' we paid for the audio tour.."

"But she didn't say it was going to be in grooups!"Sevilin whined loudly, wrapping his arms around We`rika's and tugged fervently.

We`rika could only imagine what horrendous laughter was emanating from Aphismet and his Raevan as they watched him lose to little Sevilin. His charge was turning out to be bad for his reputation. He'd remember not bring Sevilin out in large peer groups from now on. "Well... I really dun wanna follow a group either," The Huichol had never been a fan of being forcibly pressed into a cesspool composed of the human race and told where to go plus he really had no interest in what the guides would have to say. He was quite confident in his astrological and astronomical abilities as shaman. Turning around, he caught Aphismet's attention, "We're gonna skip th'guided tour thing... If ya guys wanna be m'gues' we'lla trail around ya.."

Aphismet wasn't laughing out loud, but he was chuckling at the show. His head was tilting to the side much in the way it would if he was watching a little girl playing with a puppy. It was endearing.

Rivener himself wasn't really watching, as they entered the building. His attention was already captured by the posters and dioramas of planets and nebulas that dotted the entry lobby. He floated over to his favorite display, and re-read the small paragraph before leaning on the velvet rope and staring at the pin-point lights of the sky that were pricked along a black velvet backdrop.

Aph smiled. "We don't mind not taking a group; we've heard the guided tour quite often. As a matter of fact, I'm sure Riv could recite the whole thing by heart if he wanted." Aphismet walked over to Riv, placing a hand on his shoulder. "Don't ignore our friends, okay?" he gently asked the Scorpion.

Riv turned a deadly-cold glare at Aph before turning its icy power onto Sev and Werika. "Whatever," he hissed, turning his eyes back to the display.

Aph frowned in worry, wondering what caused such a hostile reaction. He turned a nervous smile to Werika, and chuckled. "Eh... l-let's go, shall we?" He motioned for the two others to take the lead, since they'd never been here, and Riv and he would follow.

In his wide eyed excitement, Sevilin noticed his guardian wasn't giving anymore as he tugged and he looked up at the man, finding his mouth tight as We`rika stared off. The little Frei's smile turned into a frown as he glanced back to find Aphismet and Rivener talking. It was then when Rivener flashed a frigid scowl at him that his chest tightened and a nice lump formed in the back of his throat. What had he down wrong? Whichever hand was still holding onto him he hugged tightly and eased behind We`rika and away from Rivener's gaze. His whole mood was now shaken by this and he no felt like just going home.

We`rika caught the gaze to and scowled right back <******** is his problem? The little staring battle didn't last long as he found Sevilin hiding his face against his back. "Whas wrong?" Though it registered quickly after he said it.

Sevilin pulled his pouting face back slowly and looked up at We`rika. He didn't say anything, just glanced over the Huichol to Rivener and worried his lip.

"Ah, fu--ferge' him... " Before We`rika could go on, Aphismet came back and so the pair carried on first, coming to an exhibit on the Milky Way.

The little Frei kept his head low, but when his guardian came to a stop, he looked up to see a large display of the Earth's galaxy. His sulky eyes brightened as he let go of We`rika and pulled close to the scene. "It's... really pretty.." Though the comment was mostly for himself.

The shaman stood back and let Sevilin circle around the exhibit like a vulture as he ate up the signs and inscriptions. He was very happy to see his Raevan had perked up.

As the two others were taking the lead, Aph took advantage of the space to pull Riv close and whisper angrily, a rare emotion for the cook.

"Dammit Rivener, what are you doing?! Why are you so mad at that sweet little boy?" He immediately liked Sevilin, he was so sweet and innocent, and he needed to hear a good excuse for Riv's behavior.

"...Don't like him," Riv muttered, detecting Aph's like of Sevilin, and adding that to his list of things he hated.

"Why not?!"

"Because Laz likes him. And YOU like him more than me. And he acts all sweet but he just wants everyone to love him so he's a fake." Riv frowned, crossing his arms petulantly.

"Oh for god's... Have you ever thought that Laz likes him because he's not as pushy as you? And there's no way I like him more than you. Just please try, okay? He's had a tough life, so far, so go easy on him okay? Look, he likes stars... Why don't you try talking to him about it a bit?"

Rivener sighed and rolled his eyes. "Fiiiiiine," he drawled, floating closer to the other Frei.

He snuck up behind the other as he was reading a panel, and cleared his throat, arms crossed still. "So, you like stars, and the sky, and stuff?" Riv attempted to talk civilly.

Aphismet walked over to Werika and stood by, hands in his pockets. "Sorry about Riv... He gets easily jealous. I... I talked with him, hopefully he'll be a bit nicer."

Sevilin didn't bother looking up, assuming it was Aphismet behind, as he finished reading about the creation of the Milky Way so say the Greeks. Kinda weird. "Mmm yeah! But I don't know a lot about it... We`rika talks about the stars, but they're mostly stories ya know? Nothing sc... scientific. I like uhhmm uhmm..." The sea nymph raised his arms and made a gesture like he was holding a big object, "The uhmm black holes! Those are sooo cool! I watched a TV special on them a few weeks ago..." He paused to laugh and looked back at Aphismet to catch his smile... but he his cheerful face froze as he saw who was really behind him. He attempted a sheepish smile and quickly looked back at the panel, feeling a little uncomfortable by the Raevan. "Yeah..." He said timidly eying the poisonous Frei out of the corner of his eye. "........................... What do you like?"

"....... Dun worry abou' i'.... Sevilin gets hur' eas'ly sometimes... bu' he's tougher than he looks... Nothin' keeps him down fer long... Besides... he's used to tantrums from me... he's well prepared believe me..." We`rika stopped talking when an acrid taste filled his mouth. Why was he rambling on? And to this asshat on top of that?! The Huichol looked over at him, having to look up slightly. Oh my god, he was taller too! How cruel.

Rivener had almost forgotten who he was talking to, as Sevilin's enthusiasm about the stars spread to him. He was grinning now and looking at the panel, eyes carefully following the twirling tails of the galaxy. When Sev did look over, expecting Aphismet's smile, he did find a hint of such an expression on Riv. His arms were still crossed but his mood had already lightened.

"I like them all, but my favorites are constellations. Later there's gonna be that show with the giant machine that projects the stars onto the dark ceiling. That's my very favorite. I've been here a dozen times already, so I know all the science... I wish I knew more of the stories though." He had been about to offer that they share what they knew, but instead he pouted slightly and looked away, not sure he wanted to do something so friendly with this blue Raevan. "Sooooo, you watch a lot of TV too?" Dammit, he had way too much in common with this hated Ocean Frei.

Aphismet was smiling at seeing the two Raevans begin to talk. Rivener was still resisting slightly, but surely if Sevilin kept it up, he might make a new friend. Aph surely hoped so; Riv needed more friends. "I'm glad to hear that, then," Aph replied to the long-eared man. "Rivener is really difficult to deal with, and it takes someone rather erm... special to withstand him. He normally makes up his mind about something and refuses to change it. Sevilin is so sweet though, he might make Riv reconsider." Aph grinned. "So, you're not interested in reading the panels? It's really interesting, you know."

"Really? We`rika was telling me about the show! It sounded exciting!" The little Frei squealed softly in his earnestness. "Oh! I love TV!! It's never off at my house! I like to watch uhmm history and movie channels. And I loooove playing video games!" He paused to clasp his hands together and float a little closer to Rivener. "I'm really good at shooters and role play games! I can't play survival games though, they scare me! I jes watch We`rika play them though he doesn't like me to cause he says I scream and distract him..."He rambled on as he finished reading the last panel and glanced over to Rivener, smiling cheerfully. "Do you play any video games? OH!" Struck with an idea, the sea nymph glommed onto Rivener's arm excitedly. "You should come over and play video games with me! We`rika has a big TV and we have headphones! We could be a special forces team online OH!"

"Well Sev'lin is somethin' special...." We`rika watched the two Raevan with an amused expression. Sevilin had already forgotten how scared the dark Frei had made him.

"So, you're not interested in reading the panels? It's really interesting, you know."

The Huichol eyed Aphismet suspiciously as his long ears fell against his skull. He was saying these things on purpose. Did the man have a tap on him? The shaman looked back at Sevilin, trying to think up an excuse. "Is, eh, fine. I watch a lotta those.... specials with Sev'lin on th'uhmmm TV abou' th'solar system and.... s**t. I'mma good. Besides I wanna give him some space..." Well hey! it sounded pretty good to him.

Rivener had been watching Sevilin's complete change of behavior with a raised eyebrow. Could anyone really be this bubbly and have such a short memory span? Did he not remember how fearful he was just moments ago? It was downright insulting to not be considered threatening anymore. Then Sev had to go and glomp onto Riv's arm.

Riv yanked his arm free and shot a dark glare at Sev. "Listen you, I'm not your boytoy. Don't touch me like you know me." He pouted and crossed his arms again.

Now that the lines had been drawn, he felt he could answer the other questions. "I watch lots of movies and the discovery channel most. But Video games, I've never played any. Aphismet doesn't own a console. I usually paint, or take pictures with my camera, when I don't watch TV." He began floating towards another display, tilting his head and smiling at the pretty meteorite rocks that were lit up from underneath in their casings. "I don't know what any of those games are, and I don't think I'd be much help playing them."

He wanted to ask Sev a thousand searing questions about Lazarus, but he couldn't get up the courage to. Instead he kept looking elsewhere and trying to distract himself from the topic.

Aphismet smiled and nodded, not knowing that he had hit a chord. He also didn't read the panels, and just followed the two kids. "I have to admit I'm a little jealous," he said under his breath. "Sevilin looks like such a joy to have around. I have so much trouble with Rivener all the time, I feel like he'd be likely to kill me if I ever tried to punish him or anything... But Sev is just a sweetie. Did he ever give you any trouble, when you first got him? On account of, you know... the explosion, and erm... his previous guardian's, erh... You know?"

Sevilin looked like a puppy that had just been kicked. His ocean blue eyes grew big and his cherry red mouth formed a heart dropping frown. What was a boytoy? We`rika used to say that, but when he asked his guardian what it was he got all flustered. He wondered if it was bad. The little Frei watched Rivener pass him by and after a moment of hesitation followed the short-tempered Raevan. "Well... I still think you should come over... You might like it and...." Sevilin kept trying to tempt Rivener as best he could. It seemed the more the Raevan hated him, the more he tried to please the Frei.

"Trouble? No' really... he was... very quie' a' the beginnin'... I think he was scared of me a' firs' but then he found ou' I would do everythin' for him and now he sucks my money dry with his puppy dog eyes... he is spoiled rotten. Bu' I think... he's startin' ta ge' lonely. I... have a very time-consumin' job and so I hooked him on video games ta keep him entertained for most of th'day and I can' take him ou' enough.. I think he's looking for friends..." The Huichol stopped and rolled his tongue over his sharp teeth. He wasn't sure he had ever said so much in one sitting in his life and for it to be Aphismet pulling this all out of him? He must a witch. It was the only answer.

Rivener could detect the puppy-dog-kickness in Sev's voice, and it grated his nerves. He felt like he'd just taken candy away from Eiry or something. Rolling his eyes and making a big show of sighing, Riv turned to the blue Frei and made an effort.

"Ohhhh, stop sounding so dejected. I honestly probably would like video games. I just don't like talking to you because of... because of something completely not your fault." He pouted. So Laz liked the super-sweet, energetic type, hunh? Pfeh. Riv could never be like that, no matter how much he wanted Laz to like him. He supposed he shouldn't be taking it out on this guy, but it was so damn hard to see past this big FACT. "Look, just don't cry, alright? Here, look at the pretty rocks instead or something." He pointed at a particularly sparkly meteorite.

He really had no idea how to be nice, at the present moment. Everything he tried to say came out snippy and short-tempered.

Aphismet smiled. He hunched his shoulders and chuckled a bit at the mention of hooking Sev onto Video games. "That's so weird, I had the same instinct. Well, I mean, back when I worked all the time and Riv was young, we were alone. So I'd turn on the TV and he would just watch it all day. He learned to talk real early because of that, but he became quite jaded. And I later saw that the TV didn't really fill that need to be around other people... Sev should have friends, yeah. D-do you live near any other Raevans? If my Rivener and your Sevilin hit it off later, I could let Riv visit often... Although we live kinda far. But I'm sure Riv can travel on his own now, he's quite able..." He turned to look at the Huichol. Strange how they both always talked about the Raevans, never about themselves. Aph realized he knew nothing about Werika himself!

"So, what's this job that's all-consuming? I work a lot myself, but it's mostly evenings... I'm assistant Saucier at the Crystal Carafe, in Durem." He couldn't help but puff up a bit at the title. It wasn't so fancy as all that, but for someone like him, he considered it quite an accomplishment.

".... Ohhkay..." The watery Frei was a little confused and slightly frustrated. He wasn't used to a cold shoulder especially when he was trying so hard to be amiable and inviting. Was he boring? This time Sevilin kept quiet mainly because he couldn't think of anything else to say and followed the poisonous Raeva's advice. He read the panel quickly and then read it again and again so he didn't have to look up at Rivener. "Do you know why it sparkles?" Sevilin tried once more to open the communication link back up.

"I-I'm... no' sure... I haven' really looked ta see who is by me... I'mma sure we could figure somethin' ou' if they wan'..." He was happy enough to find a way to get Sevilin more socialized, but when it came to the next question he was a bit hesitant. It was kind of a long answer and a bit embarrassing to say the least. ".... I work a' a construction company in th'early mornin'... is a twelve hour shif' so I ge' back pretty la'e fer Sev'lin... and then I work two other jobs on th'weekends... so we really dun even ge' a whole day together ever. I would give up one of them if I could, bu'........ I really can'..." Before the silence could get awkward and before Aphismet could ask questions, he flashed a wry smile at Aphismet. "A saucier? And wha' praytell is tha'?"

Rivener had been looking at the sparkles of a dark glassy stone when the question was asked. He smiled, happy to share knowledge about some of his favorite things. These meteorites were, after all, the closest thing to a piece of night sky, which he was made of.

"I heard it's because of all the heat and pressure they go through when the enter the atmosphere. It condenses the material until it turns into glass or semi-precious stone. When it cracks open, all the facets reflect light and that's why they sparkle." He nodded, tapping on the glass case as though trying to get the rock's attention. "These are my favorite things in the world, apart for the stars themselves."

Riv was warming up, although he was still undecided about whether he WANTED to forgive Sev or not. Talking about stars and such always made him happy. "We should go see over there, the nebula display. We can push a button and see it explode!" He floated over to the display, bobbing enthusiastically as he waited near the glass. Feeling generous, he would let Sevilin push the cataclysmic button.

Aphsimet smiled gently. He knew what it was like; Werika was in the same boat Aph was in a while back. "I used to have to work that much too, and hardly made ends meet... It's not easy to live on our own, hunh?" He cleared his throat, too self-conscious to ask about Werika's parents. Maybe they were similar in that respect too? ...Maybe he'd ask later.

"I got that job by accident when I met Isi. It was just to pay back a dept at first, but they kept me on and now I'm not worried anymore about that, er... money stuff. A Saucier is the guy who makes the sauces. Since i'm an assistant, I make the more common sauces, while the chef above me makes the complicated, specialized ones." He grinned. "It doesn't sound like much, but in that restaurant even the common sauces are delicious, so I'm really happy I get to help!"

Aph wrung his hands. "Um, I could keep my eyes open for jobs, if you like; I overhear a lot of rich people talking, and sometimes they mention needing someone for something or other... I mean, it might pay more and take less time, and you could see Sevilin more. if you want, that is. I-if i'm not prying. Or, er... Um." Aph clamped his mouth shut. He was rambling, trying not to insult the other, but he was making more of a mess of things!

"Ohhhhh..." Sevilin tilted his head to the side and observed the meteorite a little closer. He wondered if he could get We`rika to by him one. He looked back up at Rivener as he pointed to another exhibit. "A nebula?" He had never heard of one of those, but he followed the Frei, curious. Sevilin really couldn't explain it. They looked like large puffy clouds in space, but they were so pretty. They were every color imaginable. There were a few examples displayed like the Eagle Nebula, though he didn't see any birds, and the Omega Nebula which literally took his breath away. Coming back to Rivener he saw the button Rivener was talking about it and a large blank screen above it. "... E-Explode...?" Not waiting for an answer, he pressed the button and watched with fascination as a large nebula appeared in space. Other bits of matter and gas began to pull into the large cloud and it grew and became denser and then it began to collapse on itself. Sevilin had no idea what was going on and leaned closer And closer to the screen as he often did when he was learning something new. And right on cue it exploded creating stars. It was so sudden the little Frei screamed and fell back behind Rivener, completely terrified.

We`rika exhaled dismally, "No, is no'... bu' is better than th'alternative..." Though he didn't elaborate. He was actually kid of happy, kind of, to have so much in common with someone. At least he knew his life wasn't the only hard life.

He laughed softly at the explanation to the word Saucier. He liked that word. It made him giggle. It was one thing he did like about learning English, it had some crazy a** words. "well, thas good ya like yer job... i haven' me' tha' many people who did. I dun mind my job really. I'mma ou'doors, I'mma helpin' someone with a new house or a new office buildin', and i' keeps me in shape, bu' sometimes I wonder if I could be doin' somethin' else ya know?" The shaman shrugged off the his deep questioning and watched Sevilin scared the crap out of himself (If he had any) with a bemused smile.

The man paused at Aphismet's attempt to help him before he politely declined, "Thanks, bu' I really dun have th'qualifications for anythin' much higher than a construction worker or a janitor... I dun have a high school diploma le' alone a college degree in anythin'..."
PostPosted: Tue Jul 03, 2007 12:03 pm

Rivener could see it coming. He'd grinned in advance, knowing that Sevilin would startle when the explosion happened. And just as predicted, the Ocean Frei jumped and rushed to hide behind Riv. The Scorpion laughed out loud, lifting a wing to peek at the scared Frei. "I told you it exploded! Isn't it fun? That's how the sky was made, you know!" He reached forward and pushed the button again, watching the inward collapse, the sudden explosion, the lights and pinpoints settling across the screen.

Aphismet nodded. "I understand. I don't have a diploma or a degree either, you know. Cooking is one of those things you learn by apprenticeship, much like construction I'd imagine. Have you ever thought of, I don't know, making cabinets or chairs and selling them, if you're good at carpentry? That might allow you to quit a job..." Aph couldn't help but try to think of a solution. He felt bad for Sev, and he could detect that Werika really wanted to spend more time at home.

Aph glanced at his watch. "We got twenty minutes before the star show begins. Riv! Hurry up if you want to see everything before we have to go to the show!" He turned back to Werika. "Sorry to interrupt, I just want them to see it all."

Riv looked over at his guardian and nodded. "We gotta hurry! There's the anti-gravity room to see, and the spaceship exhibit. Come on!" The dark Frei grabbed Sev by the wrist and floated foward hurriedly, towards the spaceships. Being almost anti-gravity already, there was not much point for the Raevans to go there, but it was still interesting... However, the ships were Better.

"F-Fun? Well......" Sevilin eyed the screen as if it was going to bite him. "... At least I know when it explo--Ahh!" Sevilin hadn't noticed Rivener had hit the button again. He hid back behind the Frei and forgot his worries as he looked at the barbs on Rivener's wings. "You have really cool wings..."

"I... never really though' abou' i'... Carpentry is sepera'e from my position, bu' hummm..." It sounded like a good idea, but if he were to become apprentice, he would no doubt get paid less than he does now adn then learn a whole new skill which would take awhile. Or perhaps... "......... I unfortunately know how ta sew murals. I'mma no' a fan of wieldin' the skill around publicly, bu' I can stay home and do i'... They fetched a pretty good price a' antique stores and museums since Huichol ar' is--Well never mind! Is a good idea though..." He hated to admit it, but Aphismet was a nice person... even if though he was still a woman stealer!

"Thas alrigh'.... Whas an anti-gravity room?"

"... Antee-gravy?" Sounded strange, but it was better than the nebula exhibit any day! As Rivener lead him away, he glared at the screen the whole way just to make sure it didn't pop back on again. It was on the second level, but that meant nothing as they simply floated up and over to an exhibit much larger than the rest. It showed small-scale models leading up the most recent shuttle launched which seemed to envelop the whole area. They had old concepts of the future and ridiculous models of fantastical spaceships not very likely to even get off the ground. But what had Sevilin pulling was a small exhibit beside the wall of the shuttle. "Oh... they have a moon exhibit too..."
