An uncharacteristic look of complete shock and bafflement was all that he could manage for several moments, mouth opening and closing with no sound emerging, like a gaping fish. He was... going to be a father? He was going to have children? With miss Star? Was this some sort of cruel hallucination brought on by his blood loss, or were his dreams really coming true, all at once?
Looking down at himself, as if to verify that he was awake and not dreaming, he noted the painful wounds, still oozing blood, and came to the conclusion that this was, in fact, not a dream. A blindingly bright smile slowly spread across his features as he lifted his head again, golden irises sparkling in pure joy as his heart soared up into the clouds.
"If I had the strength or energy for it, I'm sure I would be making a fool out of myself at this moment... prancing around for joy, baying at the sky. Since I can only use words for the moment, however, I suppose I'll have to settle for telling you that I feel like the happiest soquili on earth, now." His words seemed inadequate for expressing his feelings, but it was the best he could do at this moment, so he had to accept it.
A brief flash of uncertainty flitted across his features as he thought about this 'father' thing... he'd hated his own father for abandoning him and his mother up until he'd finally learned the truth... could he really be a good father to his own children? What if he failed? What if his children grew up hating him like he'd hated his father? He would never abandon them or miss Star, of course, but Seto had never actually abandoned his family, and he still grew up hating him...
Shifting nervously, Nanaki lifted his head to meet with the kind gaze of his beloved mare. "Do you think I'll be a good father?"

She mused in her own happiness showing affection and admiration for one that protected her devoted heart so boldly. Her womb was moving fluidly, not visably but more of a soft swaying as if the ocean were contained within that special area. No pain nor discomfort, just a simple rocking motion of waves lapping along the seashore.
She nuzzled him feeling a bit giddy herself but she dare not rise from the spot she had placed herself near him. A simple smile to sink within those tired eyes of his, was all she needed to say "I love you" when words were whispers of the heart.
"I think" she mused blowing outward in her soft smoothed voice with a silvery ring, "That you above all know deep within that wonderful heart you will be an outstanding parent. Strange as it is that I of all Winged types have intertwined my love within yours being as shy as I normally am. Things happen for a solid reason and all this, everthing that has happened was meant to be" she nodded with a soft carress of her muzzle against his, "Two be two loving parents means to be together does it not? Well then I think together we'll be splendid in our "raising of the children" don't you think my love?"
She rearranged herself to rest her head upon his own forelegs satretching her neck outward gently as her long blue and pink tresses flowed over him, snaking toward the ground. She yawned a moment and whickered slowly closing her soft eyes. The sound of the water, possibly the ocean was teaming in her delicate ears as it rocked her and the babies within into a lucid sleep. All the worrying, hoping, and constant love in her heart was finally setting itself free leaving one beautiful white winged mare adorned with brilliant shimmery blue wings to fade off into much needed rest as her beloved nestled her lovingly.
Only one thing more echoed from her lips that night, as soft and sweet as they'd always been, "I love thee Nanaki" she uttered before her world faded into a misty background flowing softly as the ocean had since its birth.

His doubts melted into nothing at her kind, reassuring words, and his heart melted in its own accordance. Surely, with her at his side, there was nothing they couldn't overcome, right? He preferred to think so... they were stronger together than when divided. Nodding his concurrance to her words, he smiled again, gratitude and tenderness shining through golden orbs.
He hadn't expected this outcome- not by a long shot- but it was absolutely nothing short of a dream come true. A family of his own... a family with his beloved Shining Star... there was nothing in life he could possibly be left wanting- and he would give his all to make sure that she never wanted for anything, either.
Those three words from her sweet voice made his heart race in a way that he'd never believed possible for a grown stallion to experience, and he relished in the feeling as he leaned down to nuzzle the head resting against his forelegs. Pausing a brief moment, he hesitantly let his maw drift to the slight bulge in her stomach, nuzzling there. He drew back in shock when he felt a slight movement beneath her skin, and a bright smile graced his features once more as he realized what it was. His children... his children... were growing inside of her. The thought filled him with such pride and excitement.
Casting another tender glance down at his sleeping beauty, he laid his head upon her own, careful not to disturb her rest as he finally let his eyes close, giving in to the darkness lurking within those golden depths. "I love you too, my Shining Star," was the gentle murmur that fell from his lips before he drifted off into the abyss as well.
