She laughed quietly, "Between me and my friend, I rarely had time to even think for myself." She paused a moment and turned her head back to him out of habit.
"I was merely a cub. The plague took my family and my eye sight. It wasn't the loss of seeing what was around me. It was the loss of those who might have loved me." That was when she had found Uma, or Uma had found her. "I don't know which is worse," she said in response to herself and her discovery of her other personality.

Mzimu shook his head solemnly. "The plague was a truely dreadful thing. I too lost my family, and all those I had come to care for." He smiled slightly. "Despite my disability, I was treated no different from any other cub in the Clan." Saying that, his smile soon turned to a frown. "After I found myself completely alone in the world, I would sometimes wish that the plague had taken me too...but it was my belief that any cub who had survived the plague was destined to live a very long life." A breif chuckle escaped his throat. "And it turns out that being alone isn't so bad."
In the silence that followed, he realised that Monifa had mentioned having a friend. Mzimu didn't really consider anyone a friend, as he was never really one who appreciated the company. Monifa was different though. "Where is your friend now?"

The blue lioness felt a slight kinship to this unseen lion that sat near her. Someone that understood what it had been like, what it was like now. And with that realization that he was getting closer to her than her other personality, Umasikini'mzaliwa seemed to growl deep inside her mind.
It startled her and she jumped. She was off guard that such a vicious sound could actually be directed at her in her own mind than at someone else. "No, it isn't so bad to be alone, Mzimu," she said quietly. Her other personality quieted down for the moment, but she could tell she was just waiting to pounce. "My friend? She's around. She's not very nice."

Mzimu raised a brow, concerned by Monifa's revelation that her friend wasn't very nice. "If she isn't very nice, then perhaps she's not really your friend." Saying that, the old lion's thoughts briefly drifted to Zizima and Isilahi. They were both very kind to him, to the point of annoyance. If he were to consider anyone to be his friends, it would be those two.
He would consider Monifa to be a friend too, although he was unsure as to whether or not she would be staying here at the coast. "Do you plan on settling down here, or are you a wanderer?" Mzimu was very much a wanderer before his age forced him to settle somewhat. He was unsure how old this lioness was though, and he didn't want to ask.

She knew he would say something like that and could hear the growl from Uma growing louder. "She's the only friend I've had since cubhood. She kept my head above water, teaching me how to move around with no sight." She shrugged her shoulders. Just as her darker self didn't want to know she shared the mind with a simpleton, she didn't want anyone to know that such a dangerous creature could actually be her.
"As much as I would enjoy settling down, we're always on the move. We've recently been around the Pridelands, but I'm getting too old for the plots Uma has cooking."

Mzimu felt somewhat confused by Monifa's friend. She wasn't nice, yet she had apparently helped Monifa greatly whilst growing up. "Where is Uma now then?" The old lion was well past the age where he felt curious about things, but this rather charming lioness didn't seem like the sort who would befriend a lioness who was the complete opposite, so he found himself wondering.
Despite is wondering, he knew full well that it wasn't really any of his business. He cleared his throat, hoping that all these questions didn't drive Monifa away prematurely, although the mystery of Uma would most likely bug him for as long as she stuck around.

She hesitated on answering his question and that hesitation what all Uma needed. The pitch of her voice went deeper, sounding more mature and less spacey. If he could see her face, it slowly shifted into a snarling look that seemed calculating even without the look in her murky eyes. "Why she's right here. I heard that my pet was talking about me. She kept me locked up in fear of your safety," she said with a hint of laughter.

Mzimu noticed the change in Monifa's tone of voice immediatly, but he didn't know quite what to make of it. In all his long life, he had never actually encountered anyone with a multiple personality disorder, although he had heard of it. It was too soon for him to assume that that was the case though, so he tried to remain unphased.
"For my own safety eh?" He said with a chuckle. "I don't mean to be rude, but lions with our 'condition' are rarely considered a threat." Mzimu knew he was more than capeable of defending himself should push come to shove, so this was merely an attempt to mislead the new darker Monifa (or Uma, if that was now who she was).

She sneered as she spoke, "Monifa'nkiruka tends to be weak hearted when around others. And quite frankly, I don't see the benefit of keeping you around." She flicked her tail as if she were indifferent and appeared more in control than her partner. "It's not a matter of brute strength."

Mzimu frowned deeply. It was as if Monifa had morphed into a completely different lioness, who had a very bad attitude. He didn't want to fight Uma, as where he was concerned, she was simply something of the mind. It would be Monifa's body he would be fighting, and it would be her who would have to suffer the wounds and the scars once Uma had had enough.
"I don't see the benefit in sticking around either, if you're going to be rude." Saying that, Mzimu slowly got to his feet and began to walk away. Of course he knew from his own senses that his footsteps would be heard by Uma, but he hoped that simply walking away and leaving Monifa would be enough to deter Uma.
(( surprised Shall we end it there, or do you want to have Uma pursue him? ))

A harsh and cruel laugh seemed to echo out behind him as moved to leave. That gleeful sound was also in benefit for Monifa who was crying deep inside their shared mind. To have hurt two birds with one stone how lovely.
She rose from where she sat and half thought about following after him. As soon as that thought came to mind, her body became rigid and wouldn't move towards him. So the softy was strong willed. She turned her back to the great lion and slowly made her way from the waters.
(( We can end it there. It gives Monifa a reason to want to get rid of Uma even more. x3 ))
