Ren was laying down under a maple tree as she stared up at the clouds, flashing between the dancing leaves of the tree above her. Her music was playing a slow and calm song, (Don't Fear) The Reaper by Gus. The light breeze played with her short strands of blue hair. She rolled onto her stomach and read the last line of her book, "Beauty loved him more than anything, her Beast boy, but, secretly, sometimes, she wished that he would have remained a Beast." Ren closed her book and sighed, 'I suppose I'll need a new book again,' placing the book on top of ehr stack of books she stood up and dusted herself off. She picked up the stack of books and placed them in her lime green backpack. 'Things are so peaceful here, I wish I didn't have to leave yet.' A grimace appeared on her face as she reached the top of the hill. She looked down and saw the ice cream parlour next to the bookshop. She walked down the hill and entered the shop, a few murmured hellos entered her ears.
"Ren, weren't you just in here a few hours ago?"
Yeah, John, I finished them though, I need some more."
"Oh, ok then," the store clerk turned to the man at the counter and rang him up. Ren walked to the back of the store. 'Maybe I'll try some history this time.' She looked up at the top shelves and let her eyes roam. A space in the shelves caught her eye, normally the shelves were jam packed. She reached down to the bottom shelf where the space was. "Hey John! Since when do you carry scrolls?" she asked as she walked back to the counter, dusty leather scoll case in hand.
"Huh? Whaddya mean? We haven't ever carried scrolls before," he sent a quizzical glance at Ren then took the scroll from her. "I bet this isn't even in the computer," a few typed words and he found out he was correct.
"Ah, I'm sure the boss wouldn't care if I gave this to you, since there isn't a price tag anyway. Besides, I think you're our most loyal customer!" He spoke to her with a grin on his face.
"Hmm, well thankyou John, hey by any chance have my books come in yet?"
"Actually yeah, they came in 'bout an hour ago. I've got them right here, I'll ring you up, k?" John pulled a stack of about 7 books from under the shelf.
"Alright, how much?"
"$65.73."
Ren handed over the money, took the scroll case and books and walked out into the fresh air. She looked back up the hill, 'I think I'd like to go lay up there awhile.'
"It's such a nice day, I may even take a nap." And with that Ren walked back to her spot under the maple tree.
