Reeling back from the other Inari cast about, finding himself caught between the other and the small stream, fur prickling from their short contact. Shifting back towards Cyrus Inari made sure to stand at his full hight which, much to his displeasure, was still a good inch shorter than Cyrus. Regaining composure he looked to Cyrus. “So sorry to disappoint then, but I’ve previous arrangements to attend to.” Inari took an assertive step forward, eyes coldly challenging. “Now if you’d be so kind as to step aside, you’re in my way.”

Cyrus took a couple grotesquely slow steps toward Inari, his eyes slitted and glaring into the 'Prince's cold stare. They had a sort of flare of enjoyment in them, a disgusting pleasure that he got out of striking fear into others and toying with them to the point of insanity.
"Sorry, I'm not too kind of a soul, Prince. To stand 'side would be t'nice of me."
His black claws protruded from his paws, leaving indentions in the dirt by the ash-ridden stream.
"B'sides, I'm sure that you c'n make time for me."
Even his voice was different from before, it was low and rasp, with a small hint of exasperation and pleasure. Cyrus' stance was almost in a pouncing position, tail flicking back and forth as it did when he was pleased. His ears were tilted back and the same sadistic grin was spread across his maw.
Inari had nowhere to go- delightful.

Inaris scowl deepened, heat slowly spreading across his face. He was being played with.
“Stop calling me that” Inari snapped, teeth bared in a low growl. Shifting back again in an attempt to more distance between them Inari paused slightly, back paw landing with a slight splash into clear water. His mind raced, trying to calculate ways of escape, each one tossed before put into action.

Ears pinned almost flat again his head Inari gave Cyrus one last searching look before pivoting, rushing into the cool water. His legs kicked furiously at the soft riverbed, sinking beneath his weight. He need only get to the other side…

Cyrus was on him as if his life depended on it- not literally on him, of course. The pleasure he felt boosted his adrenaline, and even before the boost he was a frightening opponent. Physical confrontation was his forte, after all.
In the instant it took to get the the point where land met water, he leapt forward, pressing with his powerful back legs and stretching out his wings, which provided a little gliding action, in the least. That was all it took to take him very nearly to the other side of the river, but not quite, as he skidded to a halt, splashing ashey water all about.

He took no time at all in between his actions, and immediately pounced on Inari- pressing his back his his paws and to the ground, where his paws then rested on either side of the Ulaya's neck. Now his eyes were at least halfway shut and his devilish smirk has returned as his tail flicked about in the air.
"Nice try, Prince."

Panicked, Inari lashed out, extended claws digging into Cyrus’ forelegs. Twisting away, his body tensed in anticipation. Truthfully, there was nothing stopping Cyrus from retaliating back and Inari was no fighter. Though it was becoming was glaringly obvious Cyrus simply thrived on it.

Face flushed in exertion he held his ground, stubborn pride the only thing keeping him from flinching away from the other. “Y- You! What is it you want?” Face twisted in a snarl his body trembled slightly, both from anger and slight fear.
Now drenched with water he must have been quite the sorry sight to see and, to his credit, Inari was thoroughly livid with himself – allowing another Ulaya to so easily break down his composure. It was a far cry from the usual pompous air he carried about him.

Cyrus' eyes never left Inari's even as he fought back and slashed at his forelegs. Blood from the wounds dripped down his legs and into the water, immediately dissolving once it hit. The malicious Ulaya's grin itself might as well be dripping with blood as he slowly stood at his full height, his own composure still very potent, unlike Inari's.
"'t looks as though you're true colors're showing, Prince. What are you going t'do now, Princey?"
Cyrus licked the imaginary blood from his fangs, his wings stretched out and ears tilted back.
"I don't want much've anything, Prince. Just having sm'fun."

“So glad to hear at least one of us is having fun” Inari scowled at Cyrus before ‘tsk’ing, glancing away from the other. His nose scrunched in distaste as his gaze fell upon Cyrus’ blood swirling dangerously close to him, stemming from where the other stood.
Abruptly standing Inari made his way back to shore, without the urgency of his last trip through the river- He wasn’t foolish enough to expect to escape from this Ulaya.

Finding himself in the same spot, with the same company, and the same irate whistling of air rushing its way up through the ground he shook furiously, sending small drops of water flying from his coat. Taking one last glance at Cyrus he lay down, head resting lazily against forelegs and paws- If he couldn’t get rid of the other, he might as well simply ignore him.
His ear twitched as the whistling grew steadily louder and, opening a single eye, he glared down at the ground, small cracks webbed from where he lay, gradually opening wider and cracking farther.
Red eyes snapped open as Inari could practically feel the earth bending beneath him. Shooting to his feet he yelped slightly as a back leg fell through the ground, rough edges digging harshly against skin. Barely having time to register what was happening Inari roughly pulled his leg back up, only to have the ground practically shatter beneath him, engulfing himself beneath the surface.

Cyrus didn't have much of a reaction to this sudden turn of events, save for his eyes growing wider and his grin disappearing in less than the blink of an eye.
"What a turn off. Hmph."
He sauntered over to the gaping whole in the ground and peered down it. On the jagged earth where to hole had opened was a bit of splattered blood where it had dug into Inari's sides. He could feet heat emitting from the hole, it really wasn't too much of a surprise. Being so close to the volcano the land was craggy and there were many pockets to allow magma flow below the earth.

Cyrus flexed his wings a few time, feeling malice towards them because they did not provide him with true flight. With a sigh he took several steps back, taking his sweet time, since even had he hurried to the rescue Inari would have beaten him to the bottom in any case. Once he was satisfied with his distance from the crevice, he jolted forward, diving into the hole in a surprisingly graceful manner and with a grin.
"You're not getting away that easily, Prince."

Groaning Inari squeezed his eyes shut at the dull throbbing pain that spread throughout his body. It hadn’t been one of his most graceful landings, as he found himself sprawled across hard rock, taking in lungfuls of air. Defiantly pushing the feeling aside he forced himself to his feet, wincing faintly as he put weight on his back leg.

Quickly taking in his surroundings Inari moved towards the faint patch of light that tumbled in from above. His eyes slited into a glare as he took in the distance between here, wherever here was exactly, and where he had previously lain.
Eyes widening slightly at the voice that drifted down towards him he only had enough time to take half a step back, just enough to of stopped Cyrus from colliding into him, as the other landed with a small ‘thud’ next to him. He was, to say the least, taken aback as he starred Cyrus in the face. “You, What are you thinking? Obviously nothing! Now we’re both stuck here” His voice took on an incredulous edge as he continued, “And I suppose those little back decorations of yours wont come in too much handy.” He sneered out.

"Feh." Cyrus snorted, his sly smirk remaining. "I thought you'd be flattered that I came'n after you, Prince." He chuckled to himself as he took a few steps forward so that he was in front of Inari.
"And s'useless as these damn growths on m'back are, they're a fair bit more'n that purple gem in that tiara've yours." This time he gave Inari a wink, and glaring at him with his sadistic grin, he began to walk forward. Even walking on the ground was a pain due to the heat, and every time one of his paws touched the ground a little steam would rise up from the spot. Cyrus, of course, found the small pain pleasant, which kept a smirk on his face. His wings were now folded, and he was feeling quite proud of himself for being able to retaliate Inari's insults so well.
'I should keep this p***k around more often...'
He scowled a bit at this thought, because it was awkward in a sense. He detested Inari with all his being, like he did most Ulaya, but he was beginning to feel a kind of bond, as if they had been bond by chains that they could not break and would have to deal with.

Small amounts of magma boiled and bubbled in small pools around them, and larger pools near the center of the chamber, but towards the outskirts of the cavern was all clear.

Growling Inari brushed past Cyrus. “I suppose they are. Why, you could even use them to fan yourself with! While this ‘purple gem of mine’ can sadly only get others to do that for me.” Inari shot sarcastically back over his shoulder. Pointedly ignoring the other once more he glanced about, settling on moving away from where the lava pools grew larger and more frequent.
Hopefully to where he could quickly get out, and away from this infuriating Ulaya.

Cyrus flared with rage at being pushed aside- his feelings from before when he had been lost on thought vanished and he glared with nothing but distaste for the Ulaya.
"Only because they've no spine've their own with which t'defy a pirck like y'self."
Cyrus pushed quite roughly past Inari, roughing him towards some of the smaller lava pools as a threat, but not actually intending for him to touch any of the molten rock. He stormed forward, mumbling and detesting even himself for even thinking that he wanted to keep that royal pain-in-the-a** around.

At his quick pace he soon reached a jagged wall of the chamber. Tilting his head back he inspected it before leaping up into a ledge and following suit from then on.

Catching himself from tumbling into the pool he was jostled roughly towards Inari glared after Cyrus. “I don’t deny that.” He mumbled to himself. Dismally he followed behind Cyrus, keeping a good few paces between the two.
Frustrated he watched the others easily leap and climb his way up the ledge. Carefully, Inari tested his leg, only to pull his weight off it the next second- There was no way he’d be making it up this particular cliff anytime soon. Letting out a sigh he cast about, looking for another route.

That did it. Cyrus burst, laughing hysterically at Inari's attempt to climb the rock wall. It was a simple hop for Cyrus- and yet Inari had to go find a different route. He fell onto his back, paws clutching his taut stomach as he cackled.
It was a fair amount of time before he could stand again, breathing heavily so that his breath would catch up with him. Once this was done, he hopped down from the ledge and trotted to catch up with Inari, and once he had caught up he passed him up, snickering quietly as he gave him a nudge.
"Poor Prince- I suppose you've always gotten your loyal subjects t'climb for you, eh?"
For one such as, well, himself, Inari either had goods intuition or was just lucky that the random direction he chose was fruitful, for Cyrus could see some kind of opening ahead- a large crack in the chamber's rock wall.
Naturally though, there were pools upon pools of magma separating the Ulaya from it.

Inari could only stare, as Cyrus seemed to explode with laughter at his expense, his face flushed in anger and mortification- Mortification at the sheer fact that Cyrus was laughing in not quite the menacing little chuckle that Inari had already gotten used to in just the short time they’d been in each other’s presence. This laughter really didn’t suit him Inari decided.
He couldn’t stop himself from rolling his eyes as Cyrus passed him, always having to be the leader of sorts. “If need be, then yes.” He replied nonchalantly. His mood lifted slightly as he spotted the crack flooded with light that had taken Cyrus’ attention, only to fall even lower at the sight of the magma pool before them. “Lovely…” he huffed.
