"Sure thing!" He shouted excitedly and hoped up and down once before looking Ibada in the eyes, "You've got to promise not to steal any of them, alright? They're all mine!" He looked around to make sure no one was looking and then whispered, "They're in an elephant head bordering the grave yard, if you look right over there you can see it." He raised a paw and hitched his thumb back over his shoulder.
Aten had carried many things into the head, bones, polished stones, interesting pieces of scrap fur, and even hunks of wood in odd shapes. What he thought he was going to do with all of it he wasn't quite sure, he'd need someone to give it all too once he left, so no bigger lion stole it.

Ibada's tail wagging increased in speed to reflect his excitement when Aten agreed to show him his secret hiding place and all his valuables. His tail momentarily paused when Aten looked the small hyena in the eyes, expecting a promise to leave things where they were. If Ibada was not so keen on keeping his own things to himself, he might not have been so capable of understanding how Aten felt and he nodded eagerly to show he agreed.
"Ok, ok, show me," he said, looking off where Aten had pointed.

Aten made a jerky nod and turned towards his elephant hiding place, this kid was safe, and one cool cat..erm..dog? Well Aten knew he was a hyena that's what counted.
"So, got a family, kid?" He said smoothly feeling that he was so cool to be like a big brother showing a little brother something amazing..well amazing too him.
Aten felt a pang of home sickness and felt like finding his brothers and sisters, but they left and that was that, they left. That's all he could say to himself to keep himself from running back to the den and looking. If they were there now? He'd have to ignore that, they left him...not the other way around.

Ibada grinned widely when Aten nodded, and skipped along after him excitedly. This was certainly entertaining for the pup, especially since he was off to see his new.. "friend"s treasures! The hyena didn't know what he'd do if he really liked them, but he'd have to do his best not to try to steal anything- he'd promised, and Aten was a lot bigger than him. A lot.
"Yeah!" he replied brightly when asked about his family, "My mother and brother are around somewhere, I don't look much like them though. Where's your family?"

The earthy red juvenile had a spring in his step as they came to his secret hiding place for treasures. He pointed a paw showing a hole in the back of an elephant's skull. There was treasures to be seen in there, pelts, rocks, bones, all sorts of different things he collected over his short time in the grave yard.
"Take a look, I don't think it's big enough for the both of us. I think I'll need to move it into a bigger place anyway," he added. It was bright enough out that the skull did not look spooky or eerie, just an odd shaped rock.

Still grinning, Ibada hopped along after Aten cheerily. He jogged to take a look in the skull as soon as Aten pointed it out, only catching the first part of what the lion said- only one of them would be able to get in, that was ok. Aten knew what was in there, Ibada just wanted to see.
"Wow!" he called, once he was inside and trying to be loud enough so Aten could still hear him. After a moment of looking around hungrily, he stumbled to the opening, "Where did you find all of this?"

A large grin graced Aten's maw, as he heard the kid exclaim and he wanted to jump for joy that another treasure seeker enjoyed his trove of booty.
"You really like it? I found it all over the grave yard, it took forever to collect," not really, but to the red lion it took quite a bit of time to find things that were so significant to him, worthy of being stashed away.
"I umm...might be going on a trip, want to look after my things for me? Until I come back? You can add stuff if you want?" His grin lessened but did not all together disappear at the thought of Ibada keeping his things. He didn't think he would be coming back any time soon anyway.

"Yeah! You have a lot more stuff than I do!" he exclaimed brightly, his tail wagging behind him excitedly. Ibada had something to aim for now, he wanted a collection like this- but BETTER! He wasn't sure how he'd do it, but it would be awesome. He sobered up when Aten said he was going to be going on a trip.
"Where are you goin--" he paused when he was asked to watch over the hoard, "Ok! I can do it!"

Aten beamed, he /did/ have a fantastic collection, and this proved it! The earthy male chuckled at the kid's excitement. He was going in search of his ancestors in hope to understand not only himself but his mother and father.
"Oh away, probably to the desert," he pause, "But I would hate to see my collection lost to a thief." he said smoothly, a charm he could possibly develop years to come.
"As long as your mom doesn't mind you in the grave yard, then you can have them. But, don't show your brother, I don't know him, don't know if he'll take any.

Ibada's tail was wagging excitedly again, and now he was shivering in excitedly as well. He skipped out to talk to Aten about it more instead of just shouting from where he was. He nodded enthusiastically- if he had a collection this nice, he wouldn't want to lose it either!
"They won't mind, or take anything!" he assured his new friend, sure now that Aten was his friend. Honestly, Ibada wasn't sure he would tell either of them but Aten didn't need to know that. It would just mean all the treasures were that much safer.

"Well, now that I know all of my possessions are safe with you there's nothing stopping me," he sighed and shot a grin to Ibada as he popped out of the skull. "I'll see you soon, but I might not be back for a looong time, alright?" Aten stressed the word long. He was going to depart the moment Ibada said yes, heading towards where he assumed the desert would be. Unfortunately he was not going to find it any time soon, it would certainly feel like a lifetime.
"Promise they're safe?" He needed to hear it again, and he knew it would make the younger hyena happy to feel so needed and important, he knew it would have made him feel important.

The hyena nodded enthusiastically to assure Aten of his promise that the items would all be kept perfectly safe. Ibada would not let anything happen, he would protect them like they were his own! In fact, he would even add some more stuff to it, if he could find good stuff.. then aprt of it would be his. Or so he'd have to argue when Aten came back for it, but that didn't matter. He puffed up importantly.
"I promise, I can keep it safe for a looong time!"

He stood and turned around in his direction leaning back to look at Ibada, "Take care my new friend," he grinned happily and started walking hoping that the kid would be entranced by the treasures enough to let him leave without having to dally much longer, he needed to find out where he was from, and hopefully find his mother, although he would never admit to wanting to see his mother, he wanted to at least know why he was abandoned.
"Until then," he lifted a paw and sort of saluted Ibada.

Still shaking in his excitement, Ibada couldn't hold back an almost-bark as he took a couple steps after Aten as the lion departed. Trying to be reassuring as well as polite, he called after him, "Bye! You can count on me!" He watched Aten go, and then did a sort of victory loop around before darting off to gather up his rocks to bring back to the little treasure den.
Fin.
