He kept the motions going. This was excellent exercise to strengthen his limbs. A shame he couldn’t do this on his own. Harder and stronger, Jordan moved his limbs, feeling free as if he really was powering himself through the water. As much as a canine smile he could muster appeared on his muzzle. He could work past the embarrassment of needing assistance to do this if it would help him walk less awkwardly on land.
His digitgraded legs felt so odd kicking in the water, but they felt weird on land too. The stress on his spine was aleved in a weightless atmosphere. “Hey. Cowdy! Ahm doeeng it! Ahm doeeng it!” Jordan continued to paddle, pleased that he’d remained afloat, mostly through Cody’s efforts, albeit. His motion was disrupted when he felt the rubbery skin shifting underneath him and it nearly made him fall into the water. “Watt’re yah doeeng? Dunt leev!” he was worried that Cody was proverbally removing the ‘training wheels’ and seeing how well Jordan could swim on his own. He squirmed and wiggled, feeling Cody’s webbed hands moving around, but wasn’t sure what the heck was going on. He wiggled, feeling the shorts shift on his body and he pushed himself forward, trying to kick out of them. His shift in weight pushed him too forward though and he fell face-first into the underwater sand.
He’d re-surface after a few moments, a few feet closer to the beach as the waves had quickly carried him. Jordan blinked. Suddenly, Jordan felt himself able to move his hindlegs a lot more freely and… Cody was left holding a pair of black shorts. “Uhm… uhm… uhmmm..” was all Jordan could say, speechless and once more embarrassed.

It had been a pain to get those shorts out, but Cody finally managed to get those damned buttons off their holes. Though pulling the shorts off had been quite a task as well. That thing must have felt really unconfortable, considering how tight it was gripping the furred skin
The boy resurfaced, clearly happy he had completed that task. He handed over the shorts back to Jordan, just in case he wanted to keep them
"Yiieee yeekk khack wierrrkeck. Wyyhieenn yeeckrrr houuh?" (I bet that hurted. Feeling better now?)

It was more than a relief to not have his skin painfully constricted. There were indents into his flesh, beneath the wet and matted fur. The water rushing over his furred body eased that discomfort though. The thing about being in the water was the free movement. That sense of weightlessness was helping him remain in a more vertical position for the moment without the same amout of pain doing th same thing on land ould cause. It felt awkward to be upright, mostly because his body wasn't made for it anymore, but he could still look around if he craned his neck in the direction. Jordan brushed the blonde hair out of his eyes as he smiled to Cody, who delivered those evil shorts back to him. "Uhm.. t'anksh." he looked back and forth a moment, trying to pretend that had never happened, but he'd said it with true appreciation. His body was free from clothing once again.
He balled up the wet shorts and threw them closer to the shore. He'd pick them up later. Maybe? "T'anksh fow tha halp, Cowdy. That reewy hurt a lot. Cudunt shtretch mah legsh.. not that ah cun reewwy move them much now.." he shook his wet hair, sending droplets scattering like rain. Jordan patted Cody on the shoulder and hugged the dolphin boy. "Ah owe wu big time, buddy."
The water was keeping him cool from the sun. Even with so much fur, his body temperature was more regulated. Jordan released the boy and fell down onto all five paws, stretching his body with a grunt. His spine couldn't take much more of that abuse. 'Standing', even in the water, was taxing on his re-aligned spine. Jordan wanted to know more about Cody, but both were experiencing vocal problems, making communications strained, if not downright difficult.
Jordan paused, in thought, arching a brow curiously, an ear flicked. "Tell mee, Cowdy, do wu come to tha beach a lot?" he tried to smile, which given the muzzle wasn't a simple task. "Ah leevon tha beach, sho wu can find me ahny time. Ah would enjoy tha company." he nodded. Then he did something that really surprised him. Jordan was in low enough water to lower his front quarters down, while hiking his hindquarters into the air, wagging his wet tail. Jordan had just told Cody he wanted to play without even thinking about it. Body language was a beautiful thing.

"Nyiiieeerr yiieehhkieen ik" (Don't mention it)
Cody was really happy he could have been of service, though he wasn't expecting such a warm welcome as a hug. But he didn't push back at it. His dolphin side really liked the physical contact. And his human one wasn't against it either, after all the time he spent alone. He gladly retributed the hug before both let go
The boy kept eyeing the dog curiously. He wasn't aware of all the strain his poor spine was going through, though he could easily relate if he did. If the kid was to be put on land he would start suffering his own share of pain The heat and the weight of his body on his organs was a problem both he and normal dolphins had. But If he was to try to sit on that damned wheelchair of torture, the lack of butt to cushion his weight would bring a great deal of pressure on his spine, even if he still had his hip bones to bend his body into a sitting position But those were things of the past. Now that he kept himself completely to the water, he rarely had to face those problems anymore
"Yieeephieehnss. Yiiihm ieenhh shiiee woyiisk uf ck wyiieemsh" (Depends. I'm in sea most of the times)
To aid the understanding of what he just said, Cody pointed to the high sea around the island. He never really got too far of the shore, afraid of bumping into the wild dolphins, but he often spend most of his time there. Occasionally he'd come down to the rivers and the lake, or to the beach in search of company, but the sea was the only place where he felt right. Sadly he didn't had anyone else to share it with
He got the hint to play and gladly took it. Swiftly he grabbed the black shorts again and dared Jordan to take them back. It was the dolphin version of tag, grabbing the object of interest and swimming around with it until someone came to "steal" it and have his turn He was careful not to swim too fast or being too out of reach. It wouldn't be fun if Jordan wouldn't be able to participate

He didn’t understand what Cody had meant until the dolphin pointed all around him, nodding with understanding. Maybe Jordan would see him around more that he knew the dolphin boy was often around the sea. It was lonely out this far and though he did have to walk into the village, Jordan was happy to know someone would be out so far to talk with. And play with. There was something about the canine mind wanting to play with Cody. Dogs were big children at heart and any excuse to relieve some stress was welcomed.
The dogman splashed after Cody, making his good mood clear with his waggling tail. He was indeed in a better mood having met the playful dolphin. Even with his debilitations, there was time to goof off now and then. Pulling himself up as he watched Cody zip through the water, he had a feeling he wanted to play as well. Anywhere in the world, it would have been a normal sight to see a boy playing with his dog on the beach, but to witness a dolphin boy playing with a malformed, incomplete dogman-thing… well.. that was only normal on the island.
“Show wu wanna play? T’ink yer fasht?” Jordan teased, giving him encouragement to play keep away. “Beddah run cuz here ah come!” the dogman laughed, splashing forwards with an awkward jump in the aquatic environment. He actually having fun since his last change. His body would hate him tomorrow, but for now, who cared!

Cody kept himself at bay, whistling cheerfully and teasing Jordan to go after him. Everytime the dog man was about to catch him, he'd zip away a bit further. But more than once he'd drop the shorts behind him, giving the dog a chance to catch them before he turned around to grab them back

Had he dropped them? Alright! This was his chance to win! Jordan paddled for the shorts. The kid was fast alright, but apparently he’d lost some grip in his hands. That was his opportunity to jump in, figuratively, and snap his jaws at them. Having thought they were in his grasp, all Jordan had to show for it was a mouth full of salt water, which he spat out in disgust. He shook out his head, expelling water from his canine ears. He pawed at his face, wiping the water and salt from his eyes.
When next he looked up, Cody was zipping away gleefully with the shorts. Amazing! Cody was so graceful in his element. It was inspiring for himself to acclimate to his body. If a kid could do it and not complain, then he could too. Well, he could try. Jordan took note of where Cody was and he dove underwater, not resurfacing immediately. The dog paddled his way towards him under the waves. When he resurfaced, he was a few feet behind Cody, but being quiet wasn’t a possibility at this point. Not realizing how far out he was, Jordan paddled after him, trying to be stealthy though he was splashing. Jordan hummed the jaws theme as he approached.

Trying to sneak upon a creature that depended mostly of its hearing system to survive was a nearly impossible task. Cody knew all along where Jordan was, but he pretended he didn't notice... until the last minute As soon as the dog was about to grab him, the kid zipped away again, waving the shorts in a taunt while cackling a whistle. He wasn't trying to frustrate Jordan, he simply couldn't help to show off
He abandoned the shorts again, pretending to have lost interest as he dived. He was actually giving the dogman the opportunity to grab them this time, before playing the little prank he had in mind

Jordan coasted towards him on the waves, stretching his arms out in preparation to sneak upon Cody and surprise him with another grappling hug. When he was distracted, then he’d try for the shorts and then it’d be his turn to keep away from him.
That didn’t work out quite the way that he’d intended. Like Wyle E. Coyote trying to capture the Roadrunner, Cody zipped away with his own version of ‘meep-meep’. Jordan was left hugging air and stunned at the speed and grace Cody displayed in the water. He must have had a lot of time to adapt to his aquatic body. Jordan kind of wished he could have known Cody before his changes had begun.
Jordan moved himself around, treading water. A brow cocked as Cody had disappeared when he wasn’t looking. He had a feeling this was another baiting by leaving the shorts just floating there, but he could be a good sport, as long as the kid was enjoying himself. He dog-paddled himself closer.
“Cowdy?” he called out. “Cowdy? Where ah wu? Ahm gonna wiiiiin.” He smiled as he reached out ofr the prize.

Cody had positioned himself behind Jordan, watching the furious paddle towards the abandoned shorts. He waited until the kicking had diminuished before he started tickling the hairs between the rough pads of the hind legs, moving upwards to the lower torax He was curious to see just how ticklish Jordan was. The boy always found funny to see dogs licking their legs when he scratched their ticklish spots. And this situation was even better, because of the soft, thick fur standing on end in the salty water

He was so close. The game was afoot and he could win this. It was suspicious how Cody just disappeared, but Jordan was enjoying himself too much to give it in-depth thought. He could win this and then he’d… uh… well.. he’d… uh… keep them away from Cody, he supposed. Both he and the increasing canine side needed this day of relaxation. With everyone either conspiring against him or wanting to do him bodily harm or.. just treating him unfairly was enough to make anyone crack.
The fur on the pawpads was brushed and Jordan wiggled his hindlegs. Maybe just some stray seaweed toching him. It made him jerk reflexively anyways. Jordan had never liked the slimy feel of seaweed on him. He’d learned at an early age that poisonous sea snakes dwelled in seaweed, which made him paranoid his entire life of being killed at sea.
He felt it again and this time it felt ticklish, different but ticklish. He couldn’t help but let out a giggle as it only got worse. Jordan was very ticklish at several areas on his body, his feet had always been one of the more sensitive areas. Jordan splashed as he tried to see what was going on, his awkward body not giving him that chance to do so. He tried to move away, but he couldn’t. He wasn’t strong enough to push against the waves on the surface. He sputtered as e swallowed sea water while he was helpless to laugh at the tickling stimuli.

Cody was getting a bit carried away, enjoying brushing his fingers in the thick white fur and watching the contortions the body made to avoid him. He wasn't stupid enough to let himself being caught in the path of the kicking legs. He had learned that lesson more than once
But he immediatly stopped when he heard Jordan coughing water. He grabbed the dogman's torso and positioned his body along his, kicking his tail to push him a bit more above the surface and towards the shore Mentally he was kicking himself for not paying enough attention

He sputtered on the water still in his lungs, coughing and choking to expel it from his body. He wasn’t mad at the boy, but Jordan should have been more aware of himself in the water. He’d let himself get carried away with the frivolity to seriously pay attention. Mentally, he scolded himself for not being more cautious, but as promised, Cody wasn’t letting him get hurt. For that he was grateful. He was so strong to be able to move Jordan’s awkward body. It was like having a personal lifeguard at the beach.
The water was coughed up and it dribbled down his chin. He distastefully expelled with from his mouth, sticking his tongue out at the awful taste. He couldn’t be mad at him though. Cody was just being a playful kid and no doubt the dolphin DNA only amplified that aspect. He turned his head to give Cody a smile, as not to give him the impression he’d be scolded. He wanted to thank him but he was still hacing too much to produce his awkward words.

Cody watched, worried. He didn't know what he could do to help in this situation. Although he no longer had that problem, he knew that swallowing water like that was bad But he was a bit more relieved to see Jordan smilling back at him. It seemed he was going to be alright after all
Though the boy still felt guilty. He approached Jordan carefully and nuzzled against the fur. It was hard to tell if it was a dolphin behaviour or just him mimicing a dog. But it felt right at that moment, as a way of appoligising

“Ahm awright.” He coughed out.
The nuzzling did seem like a canine behavior and as a way of accepting the apology, he nuzzled back and patted Cody’s shoulder. “Dun beh wurr’d Cowdy.” He continued smiling “Eetsh not tha firsht tom ah’ve shwallowed shea wata. Eetsh not wurr fault at all. Ah got carelesh, buhd t’ankfully wu were thar to come tah mah reshcue.”
Once they were in the shallow end once again, Jordan’s smile turned into a canid smirk. A paw had remained hidden behind his back. The sound of dripping water became audible as he showed the pair of shorts to Cody. Jordan ruffled his hair, waving the shorts proudly. Although it was silly and he was glad it was only those two on the beach. Jordan didn’t want to explain why they were playing keep away with a pair of shorts. “Ah t’ink ah should shtay on thish shide of the water fow a while. Ah’ve got tah get mah stren’th bock bafow ah do thish agon. Ah only changed ah few days ago.”
He looked to and fro before his body automatically shook down every part of him, showering a hailstorm of droplets everywhere. His fur remained wet but it didn’t look as matted now. That was the good thing about Samoyed fur: it naturally repelled water, dirt, and most other things to a fair extent.
