There we go! He was finally getting into it! "Whoo!" she cried in triumph, jumping up and catching the ball before splashing back into the water. Her splash was soon joined by Taki's, casing the water to spray and swish back and forth in the poor. Riley surfaced, peering one eye open as she spat out water. But then, seeing that the boy had finally joined her she laughed, "Yeah! You're in, you're in!" About time too!

Taki floundered to the surface, spitting out water and blinking as he paddled to the surface, looking a little bedraggled. His hair was hanging in his face, and he was trying to ignore the fact that he was very definitely Wet All Over.
"I only came in cause you called me a chicken..." he said in his own defense, and learned the repercussions of not kicking as he sank for just a moment beneath the water, then surfaced again a moment later, sputtering and coughing slightly.

Riley smiled and stuck out her tongue good-naturedly, "Well, s'ok, you not a chicken anymore." She brushed her wet hair out of her face, taking a step or two back while holding the ball to her chest. Then she motioned him over, droopy, wet feathered ears moving forward, "Come! It not deep here." Swimming was fun, but you couldn't play ball when you did it! Shallow water was better for that.

Taki followed, for want of any ideas of his own, trying to keep his ears, at least, out of the water. He hated when water trickled down into them, especially bathwater. The boy scowled at the thought, ear twitching vigorously once, and he realized after a moment that he could finally stand on the pool bottom without having to crane his head up to keep it out of the water.
Calder was watching the boy, wondering if he shouldn't have gotten him one of those floatey tubes, but otherwise just debating whether or not to hop into the pool. He'd heard plenty of things about how utterly unsanitary that water was... And Taki seemed to be doing fine with his new friend, anyway.

Riley waited impatiently for him to finally get to the shallows. Once he seemed steady enough she dunked both her hands into the water in front of her. But it wasn't in order to splash him, for the water didn't go far enough. It was in order to get the water-ball nice and wet. Then she lifted it dripping into the air and tossed it back at him with a smile, "Catch!"

Still getting his footing, Taki barely had time to raise his hands, and as the ball made impact the water splattered across his face, which was just starting to dry off from his first plunge. His ears were, luckily, firmly pressed against his head, so at least it didn't get wet there.
"Meanie!" he cried back, and tossed the ball, but it was becoming less of a battle and more just tossing the ball back and forth; at least for Taki. It seemed that Riley would never tire of splashing him.

Riley simply laughed at his accusation, wading over to where the ball had landed, since she obviously hadn't caught it. She soaked it under the surface for a moment before spinning around, launching it into the air. It was a pretty high throw this time. "Nah! It's fun!" she assured him, thinking his meanie comment silly. She was getting him to do something cool! That wasn't mean. Nope.

Taki winced as the water splashed over him again, and held the ball underwater for a while, this time. When he threw it back, he was grinning widely, looking rather like a human counterpart to the cheshire cat, fangs and all.
"Take that!"
"Well, I have to give Riley kudos. I've been trying to talk him into getting into the pool for the past month..." Calder murmured across to Liam and Victor, grinning behind a hand. "She's done it in ten minutes. And he's not even complaining."

Riley's widened a little, for this time the cat-boy had made a rather challenging throw! Her reflexes responded admirably fast, causing her to hop backwards two steps. Then she jumped backwards, lashing out to catch the ball. Only she missed and plunged underwater instead. The throbbing, ringing sound of water surrounded her for a moment as she blinked, staring into the chlorine treated liquid. Then with a hum of the water she rose to the surface, taking in a long breath. Her hair clung to her face, some of it almost in her mouth.
She rubbed her fingers across her face to clear her vision and then looked back at Taki a bit of a ways across the pool. Then she grinned, her smile seeming to match his own, "GOOD THROW! Tehe!"
Liam didn't stop his work for such an obvious statement. In all honesty he wasn't surprised by the outcome. Neither was Victor, but he was far more social then his more reserved younger brother. "Well, she is known for her very handy accidents," he chuckled, looking out across the pool with a careful eye. His body was relaxed, but he was always alert. One had to be, with how reskless little Riley was.
