Saw the movie twice the first day! Well, the 25th. Once with my nephew, and once alone, at night. My favorite part is when Jack notices that they have to turn the ship upside down. "What's that?" (runs to side, some follow), "Ah! There!" (runs again) I love how they all start following him, wanting to see what's wrong, then catch on. "Now down, is up!" Or did he say, "Now up, is down!" Anyway, that was an awesome scene. And uh... The many Jack scenes kinda... Were weird. Lmao, and the Chicken Jack? Oh my god! I also liked when Jack left the cell, and the other Jacks say how he was such a charming man, that they missed him already...

I'm gonna go see the movie on each day I have off, until the DVD comes out! blaugh

I saw the French dubbed version because I was with peeps who can't understand English, so that was a bit disapointing. I'll have to wait for the DVD to come out to learn the jokes in English.

And I too knew the Tia Dalma and Davy Jones thing. XP

But let's face it. All of you fangirls who hate Elizabeth should be happy. She is the most pwned character at the end of the movie. Seriously. No sex life, (does sex every 10 years count as sex life?) and she lives with the thought that some day she'll die and Will will (LOL) go ******** elsewhere.

My poor precious beauty. I wanted Jack to save her. Or I would save her. crying

Anyone else stayed after the credits? My mom asked me if the kid was Elizabeth's DAUGHTER. XD Poor boy.

That's got to be the best pirate I've ever seen!

-----------------
I forced my friend to stay with me. ^^
She was like,"OMG! That's the same kid that started singing that song in the beginning! They're too CHEAP to find another actor!"
Then I started cracking up. XD
-----------------

So it would seem.

I'm not Anti-Liz (just Anti-Sparrabeth xp ), but I think AWE ended the only way it could have. Honestly, after all they've been through, could any of you really see Will and Elizabeth just abandoning the pirate life all together to go live in a little cottage in the English countryside? Or something equally as uncharacteristic. Yeah, it was bittersweet, but it had to be. Not all movies need those "everything's alright now, let's go back to our happy lives" endings. I'm glad AWE didn't resort to that.

I loved Davy Jones and Tia Dalma/Calypso's story. I also loved the tie-ins with the first two movies (Ragetti's eye being a piece of eight; the jail dog being the keeper of the keys; the Code actually being a written record).

I cried harder than I ever have at a movie at Norrington's death. It just made it seem so final... like, this is it. The end of Pirates. Look, here, just to prove it to you: Norrington's dead, and he's not coming back ever. So there.

I was shocked when Davy Jones stabbed Will, but somehow in the back of my mind I knew Will wouldn't be dead. I don't know why I knew that. Maybe it's because in most movies, leading characters always have a big final monologue before they die, and Will kind of didn't. Or maybe it was because Will hadn't had his revenge yet, and to successfully conclude the movie they needed to have Will reunite with his un-fishfaced father.

Overall, it was amazing. The first time I saw it, though, I wasn't ready for the ending. I came out of the theater shellshocked, to say the least. But once I had time to process it and see the movie a second time, I enjoyed it much more.

Yes, Norrington's death was indeed beautiful. heart
I too think the ending was well done, and that all the plots were fantastically tied together and concluded.

And to clear up the "Why isn't Will a fish, will he come back every 10 years and then what confusion...":
Someone else in another PotC topic found on Wikipedia, I think, that the director of the movie had cut some scenes at the editing that were ver clear about the Davy Jones curse:

Davy Jones had been chosen by Calypso to lead the deads on the other side with his ship, as a duty, during ten years. If he came back to her and she had been waiting for him after 10 years exactly, his curse would have been removed. But Tia Dalma did NOT come (she was likely in bed with Jack at this time!), hence why Davy Jones ripped off his heart and put it in a chest. He then became cursed, with the tentacles and all. And THEN he told the Pirate Lords how to emprison Calypso. Hency why Calypso was also betrayed by him. And why they don't get along anymore XD

Now, Will took over the leading-the-souls curse for 10 years, and Elizabeth DID wait for him, so his curse will be removed for good. And Calypso will likely choose another man from then on. So when Will comes back at the end of the credits, it is for good. And it ruins my no-sex-life-for-Liz theory! Thank God for her.

So yeah, the scene where it was said that "If the woman waits faithfully, the curse shall be broken" was removed. I don't see why at all, it helps understand the story so much!

Really? There's a deleted scene that says "If the woman waits faithfully, the curse will be removed"? I was under the impression that it was an eternity of servitude. The Dutchman needs a Captain --- who would captain it if Will was allowed to go free after 10 years? And I don't think Davy Jones cut out his heart because Tia Dalma/Calypso betrayed him, I think it was necessary to bind him to the Dutchman.

Otherwise, why else would Bootstrap have needed to cut out Will's heart as soon as Will stabbed Jones's heart? To replace it. The chest always needed a heart. I thought Davy Jones turned out the way he did because he refused to ferry souls to the other side once he was betrayed by Calypso.

Maybe I'm wrong, though. Tia Dalma does say in DMC that "him carved out his own heart."

Ok, I was just thinking about this. In the second movie, Jack gets swallowed whole by the Kraken, right? Well, when Jack is found, he's in Davy Jones' Locker. But the Kraken was killed at that point! So is the Kraken some sort of warping thing? And how can you just get into the Locker by going over a HUGE waterfall? *sigh* I dunno. I'm just thinking too much, too logically. But does anyone have a possible theory/explanation?

Yeah, I don't know how well that can be explained. It's one of those "how do these unwashed pirates turn into skeleton zombies when the moonlight hits them?" sort of things. You just don't know. xp

Well the end sequence is a silent one that lasts about a minute.

There is a caption that says "10 years later". We see a kid running in a large field singing a pirate song. He has Will's hair and a pirate hat.

Then we see Elizabeth coming behind him. The sun sets and there is a green flash. Liz and son both watch the horizon... and zOMG SHIP! We see Will on it smiling at them. The end.

It's well thought... but that keeps me thinking "WOW, Liz has NO DAMN sex life." She is a saint, for sure.

Was Will turned into one of the weird fish/people things?

User Image Take What You Can...

Not unless he miss uses his power as the captain of the flying dutch man. Which we know he won't.

It was so freaky seeing Davey Jone's true human form. He looked like a grayer version of Barbosa. And the whirl pool fight scene was my favorite part. SO much action! and then Will and Elizabeth just randomly get married in the middle of it. And no, sex every 10 years is not a sex life XP. I don't feel bad for Elizabeth but I feel bad for Will, only step on land every 10 years. Why don't they just make him stand in a bucket of water like they did to Davey Jones?

Oh... is that why Davy Jones was a fish... I just thought it came with the ship and curse...

Spoiler:
I knew that Tia and Davy were in love! Glad I noticed the matching lockets...

I had a suspicion about that and I didn't even see the lockets. X3

Anyway, this movie was a bit odd for me. I completely adored it of course, but I also hated it a bit at the same time. With the exception of only a few characters, every one was just pissing me off, especially Will. There was so much backstabbing I could barely keep up at all, but that was actually amusing. Will's persona almost ruined the entire movie for me though. He got redeemed slightly at the end, but he still annoyed me.

But a couple things. One, I thought that the marriage thing in the middle of the intense battle was corny as Hell. Worse than that Singapore pirate snapping off his toe. At least that was amusing. Although Barbosa yelling about kissing was amusing, non-surprisingly. Secondly, I'm assuming that the odd older gentleman was Jack's father, correct? Why did they even bother adding him into the mix? He was in it for less than three minutes. That just isn't right. Why introduce a character like that just to make a cameo appearance? It annoyed me too.

Oh...And Norrington's death was indeed beautiful. It still took all my willpower to not scream out his name in complete angst though.

And there's a thing at the end? Argh, I hate how they do that so much now-a-days since I never remember and when I do there isn't anything. I guess I'll just have to either go watch it again or wait until it comes out. -shrugs-

I love Jack's halucinations, especially the little shoulder angels, because really they are telling him to do the same thing from different perspectives...they absolutely rock. Especially when he is trying to tip the ship, he looks at his shoulder and asked "What is that?" "I dunno, what do you think?"

Yes, I adore those parts. whee
The peanut-obsessed one, the one with the goat, the chicken!Jack...It was all quite funny, especially those two that actually followed him. I loved it when they were all 'he's a charming fellow. I miss him already' or whatever.
