Ah! Summer!
Warm beautiful sunlight, cool breezes and wonderful grassy fields to play in. This is what most would consider "The Life!"
No cars, no trash, no bustling city madness, no--
"AAAaaaahhh!!!"
... screaming... children...?
"MOMMY!!" Ok... maybe the occasional screaming child. "IT TOOK MY TOY AGAIN!!"
The grass flurried to let the "theif" rush past away from the screaming child and it's now in pursuit mother. But the creature being chased was far too fast for the two-legged creatures and it bolted skillfully through its own domain.
Soon the small furry figure darted into a burrow, joyful chitters in what would appear to be laughter escaping as it traveled deep inside, searching for a den to play with the new prize as the human above stomped her foot in defeat and decided to turn back to her pouting child in comfort. "We'll get you a new toy, alright, Sweetheart?"
The furred figure stopped within its own den and dropped the new prize in a pile before rumaging throughout the pile itself and plucking out another toy.
Scurrying back towards the surface, golden eyes glinted off the sunlight as it snuck up on the mother and child couple skillfully.
"Stupid rat..." the mother snarled and helped the boy gather the rest of his things.
"It's NOT a stupid rat, mom!" sniffled the boy. "It's a Furret! And I'm gonna catch it one day to get all my toys back." he huffed then wiped his eyes.
"Alright, sweety. Let's go inside, ok?" It was then that the mother went to reach for something when the oh-so familiar chitter caught her attention. Both her and the boy turned to look upon the orange furred creature with bright yellow eyes as it slowly stepped forward and rose onto his hind paws.
It was small for its kind, probably a runt by the looks of things, but it only held this pose for a minute before it brought its large tail around and pulled the toy from the mass of fur. The little orange furret then let out at chattering squeak as it turned swiftly and darted back into the grass, leaving the toy for the little boy in place of the one it had taken only moments before.
"Look mom! It brought back one of my other toys!" the boy giggled out at snatched up the gift.
"That's good, honey. Let's go inside." the mother muttered and started back for the house, the little boy not too far behind.
With the transaction settled and the humans now gone, the little orange furret snatched up her more recent prize to take it back up into the sun to play with. Passing through the tunnels, she heard small murmurs from the other furrets of a trainer lurking about, but she paid no mind. They never caught her. No matter how much they tried. She was too quick for a pokeball.
Besides, she had her toy to keep her occupied, nothing could possibly catch her attention. At least... not for the next day or so.

Trotting proudly down to the small creek, the small Furret chittered a soft giggle to herself as she plopped just inches from the water's edge to play with her new toy.
Plucking the prize from her tiny jaws she squeaked softly in delight before messing with the bending arms of the doll - making it mimic the actions she had seen most humans doing. She moved the legs back and forth only to watch in frustrated amusement as the upper half of the body seemed to bend over with each tug on the legs.
With a cute little snort, she threw the toy down on the ground beside her with a huff. Obviously the toy wasn't working well. With a nose turned up in her moment of anger, she huffed again as appeared to give the inanimate object the silent treatment, but only that lasted a few seconds before she opened her eyes with a blink then looked pitifully down at the thing.
With another chitter, she snatched it up quickly and hugged it tightly to her small furry frame as if to apologize to the toy for being so mean to it.
What a cute sight to behold...
After her hug of apology was done, she placed the toy back in her mouth and darted along the creek bed towards a fallen log to cross it to the other side. There was another field over there - less furrets - to play more with her toy without having to worry about being spotted by any of her family. Knowing them, they'd spot her and want to play, or make her come into the den to help dig a new burrow for future younger siblings or whatever. Furretta wouldn't have any of that though. She had a new toy and she was going to play with it, gosh darnit!

It wasn't some family member meaning to recruit Furretta for digging duty or babysitting, however.
A dark form crept closer and closer to the young Furret, silently and slowly. Without making a sound, the figure settled down on the hilltop, watching the little one at play. Watching...and waiting...waiting for the precise moment to make his move...

Furretta carelessly bounded up the small hill. Chittering happily, she kept the toy in her jaws while bounding towards the crest with her eyes closed. She knew the territory well and knew that no one was going to be around, at least not for a while. She was currently completely unaware that she was running straight into possible danger.
A strange smell wafting from behind her caught her tiny nose and it made her stop and turn, her back now facing whatever it was that lay in wait. She stood upright, unafraid of any dangers as she gazed back down the hill towards the creek.
Perhaps the boy was coming back?

Slowly....slowly...the form crept closer, practically itching to leap upon its unexpecting prey, but knowing that he had to wait until the time was right. Just a little closer now...
NOW!
With a growl, the form leap, paws wide and jaws open...
Was that a growl...or a squeak?
The Houndour pup sailed through the air down the hill, hitting the Furret with a playful bark. He was young enough that the pounce was all the further he had thought through his plan. He didn't think about the fact that his momentum plus the slope of the hill probably wouldn't let his leap end right here...

Furretta gave a leap into the air in her surprise and emitted a rather startled squeak of protest as she was caught off guard, but her squeak was caught short by the impact of the pup barreling into her. She coiled within the grasps of the pup, her tail covering her almost completely as her method of protection as they both began to tumble down the small slope.
Even shortly after their stop at the bottom, she remained coiled waiting silently in her balled form for that split second of which she could uncoil and make a run for it....
... she'd have to wait for the thing that had pounced on her to stop squishing her first.

Whining softly, the pup seemed puzzled at first. Didn't the fuzzy thing wanna' play? He scrambled to right himself, backstepping a bit before prodding Furretta curiously with his nose. He wanted to play! It was hard to play though if she was just going to lay there like that. That wasn't any fun!
He whined again, sniffing at the furball on the ground before him.
'Come oooooon... Wanna' plaaaaay!'
