Smiling, Antony rubbed the back of his head with a wing. His sister? "Actually, Neve looks the most like my father. The only kalona traits she has are the split hooves and fangs; otherwise she's physically a wind. My brother has the kalona horns and tail, and I, of course, have the wings and teeth. We're all really different, which comes from having really different parents."

He wasn't surprised to hear that his father wasn't that much of a hunter, though. From what he'd heard and seen of Ariston, the kalona stallion wasn't very "stereotypical" by breed standards. Actually, to hear that the stallion hunted at ALL was surprising. Ah well. "That's cool that you got along with my mom, honestly; she doesn't really get the chance to do things like that much, not with me, my siblings, or my father." To put it mildly.

Indeed, Guilian was used to be towered over these days; if it wasn't Ariston, it was his sons. After all, being a wind among kalonas meant being 'the short one.' After all, being the small one didn't mean diddly, as Ariston's words proved. "Yeah, I've been busy lately, but I can't be surprised you didn't notice me. I've been..." Glancing over at the two kids, Guilian moved closer to the kalona stallion before whispering, "avoiding Izusa-Chica. Different hours, different routes, different hang-outs. It's proving...challenging."

However, the new race's description was most intriguing, to put it mildly. "Poised, eh? Sounds like something I might enjoying...removing." He had always liked getting past the stiffness, after all. "Are they bigger than me? Your size?"

Wow, how strange was that! It seemed that Antony's brother and sister were quite a mix like him. Loveless connected what he said to her own brothers, and she could right away tell how different they all were. Though, for some reason, her brothers almost looked like twins at times, one being blacker and one being golder.

"Well I am happy that I was able to make your mom happy, too." Of course, Loveless couldn't tell from the Kalona's reaction, seeing that she barely expressed any emotions. Loveless looked over to where the fathers were talking, and made a distinct frowning face. The fathers keep winking and nudging each other on the back, very sketchy, in Loveless's opinion. "Scuse me, what are you guys talkin' about?" She puffed her shoulder out like she always did, and was mad that her and Antony were excluded.

Ariston nodded quickly to what Guilian said, not suprised at all. Izusa was a scary one, and he was NOT thrilled that Izusa had already met his daughter as well. "I've even been trying to avoid Izusa for the sake of Loveless, since she is so back and forth with emotions, many of the Kalonas find her fascinating, in hopes that she will be something different then me." He chuckled to himself, "I guess I am just that bad!" Oh well, though in his chuckling, he looked over to the angry-faced Loveless.

"Yes darling?" He said, spoiling her as always. "Guilian and I are just talking about some daddy things, nothing to worry about."

He looked back at Guilian, but noticed that Loveless didn't seem to enjoy his answer to her. "Heh I figured you would say that! Though, the male was my size, who knows what the females are like. But, it might be a nice treat to search for." He laughed before turning to look at Antony and Loveless.

"Well Guilian, who would of thought we would survive through this much." His eyes sparkled as he looked at the Loveless and Antony, such beautiful spectacles. "At least are children are pretty, could you imagine if they weren't?!" He made a goofy face at the thought.

Unlike Loveless, Antony hadn’t the slightest doubt what the two older stallions were likely discussing. Even if he hadn’t noticed the body language, the mere fact that it was Guilian and Ariston, standing off out of earshot, told him all that he needed to figure out what they were talking about.

However, it wasn’t until Loveless’ rather blunt declaration of exclusion that he actually LOOKED that a way again, just in time to catch Ariston’s explanation to his daughter. That caused a look of slight surprise to cross Tony’s features; after all, Guilian had been teaching Tony and his siblings about the facts of life from the time they were baskets, practically… well, at least when they were young. However, it seemed as though Ariston had a different method, given Loveless’ seeming lack of knowledge about the subject.

Oh well. Different things for different parents. “That probably means that they were talking about something dull and boring, Loveless, so I guess it’s good of them to not include us. We wouldn’t want to fall asleep now, would we? But I think that they can stop with that and start back with the interesting conversations, don’t you?” The innocent look he gave the filly turned slightly devilish as he looked back at the older stallions; after all, if he knew his father, Guilian was likely quite engrossed in the previous topic. Ah, to be young and able to mess with the plans of the elders…

“A smart idea, given the already existing tendencies of the kalona…present company excluded. And I shall indeed have to look them up; I could do with something different in a non-violent way for a change…” Guilian’s voice shifted from serious to daydreamy as the two thoughts, that of protecting one’s offspring and romancing an ethereal beauty meandered through his mind. The sudden intrusion of the filly into their conversation drove both away, though, and caused him to look at his friend in amusement.

“My my, Ariston, I’d say we’re being downright rude. After all, we’re here in the company of our dear children, and here we are ignoring them. Tragic, that’s what it is!” Though the red stallion’s voice was teasing, there was a softness about his face as he looked at his son, a softness that become flat-out pride at Ariston’s last comment. “Aye, all things considered we HAVE been fortunate, haven’t we?”

That last bit wasn’t even worthy of a response, though; as if THEY could have ugly children!

Loveless sighed and looked at Antony. "Well, they shouldn't be excluding you, you are big and older like them. That's not fair to you, hanging out with me. You are probably bored enough over here." She laughed, "Being young sucks, I hate my small body." It was useless, it couldn't help her achieve any of her desired plans. "Hopefully I will just grow already, my body hurts enough already." Oh growing pains, her teeth hurt quite a lot when she would dig into meat. It just wasn't fair. But, she was happy to be learning about stuff, rather then being thrown into life scenarios. She just wanted to be ready for everything.

It was just too relaxing of a scenario for Ariston, and he leaned his body against a soft tree. "This is just the perfect day, hanging with the friends.." He sighed, wishing his boys were also with him. They wouldn't contribute much to the conversation, anyhow, but it would be nice for Guilian to see them. "You know, it is kind of sad.." Ariston chuckled. "The boys take after their mother too much, so they never want to do anything." How funny, Loveless looked more like her mother then anything, and she was the opposite, just as the boys were to Ariston."Her lurking and hiding ways have really rubbed off on them." When Ariston thought about it, it made him a bit disapointed. Though, he hoped that when they grew more they would experience more in life.

Lovless laughed while her father was speaking. "The boys are so stupid, sitting all scared in the trees, never doing anything. Just like our weak mother." She snickered loudly, for her mother was not one of her favorite subjects. "Who could honestly sit around all day, there is too much to see and do.

Smart little one, that's what Loveless was. Antony could see how Ariston might have to stay on his toes around her! But he himself wasn't about to be cornered by a filly, no siree! "Ah, but what makes you think I wouldn't be bored listening to them? After all, I've been able to spend a lot of time talking with my father, so there's a good chance I've already heard about whatever they're talking about; you, on the other hand, are a novelty."

And actually, she was. Even though he'd have honestly liked to have heard what the fathers were discussing, he didn't doubt that Guilian would share with him later. In the meantime, Loveless was an interesting little filly! Even if she wished to be a bigger one...

Grinning, he ruffled her blonde mane with the spikes of one wing, ending with a pat on the head. "I agree that being a foal has it's drawbacks, but being small can be nice; you're harder to nab, tend to be more agile than adults, and can get away with things adults can't. If it wasn't for those inevitably obnixious growing pains, I'd say you had things in the bag!"

As Antony teased, Loveless pouted, and Ariston waxed nostalgic, Guilian couldn't help but be amused as well. It was so strange to be here, chatting with Ariston about romance one second and the next be pondering on the joys and sadnesses of family life. How the mighty have fallen...

No, how the mighty have changed. Glancing from his son to his friend to his friend's daughter, the red stallion smiled a bit as he reflected on how things had changed...and not changed. He was still a lover, right? He might have children, but they had been such an amazing development in his life, teaching him so many things about being young, being responsible...now, he could share with them that which was most important to him, and use what they'd taught him in his own life.

Looking at Ariston, he could see that such was the same with him. His children were so very important to him, he wished that he could share with them everything in just the same fashion he shared with Loveless. Guilian could identify with not being able to share with all of his children, but now...

Looking over at Ariston, Guilian's features brightened in a wide grin and, reaching over, he gave the white stallion a pat. "Well, different things work out for different Soquili, right? The two of us ought to be prime examples of that...so perhaps it is not surprising our children have chosen to do different things as well, no?"

She giggled at Antony, and let her childish smile come back. It was nice to hear how he felt about foalhood, especially since he experienced it himself not long ago. "That's true, there are many situations that I am able to wave a hoof at, so I like that about being a kid." Especially with her father, since it was always so easy. "Though, you don't seem like the type who tried to get in trouble when you was younger." She gave him a goofy grin, one that looked very similar to the one her father always made. "Getting in trouble is fun, do you have any stories about that?" Maybe looks were decieving? Even in the beginning of meeting Antony, she didn't guess he was Guilian's son.

"Aye, that is true." Ariston sighed, and felt his body ache again from chasing the boys around earlier. "Though, I do wonder.. how were you able to put up with two boys? My body is acting dreadful compared to their young states." He chuckled, it might have been a swervy turn away from each of their moments, but that was Ariston for you. Always had to interrupt a moment to comment about something else.

But it was true, he wondered if Guilian went through the same pains that he was pulling through. "The boys require me to use body strength, and Lovless.." He glanced over to her again, "Just requires me to keep my mind focused, she keeps blabbing on about Kalona things." He sighed, already feeling exhausted about it. "And it is hard that she completely hates her mothers."

That was something Ariston noticed from Guilian's family; they didn't seem to hate the parents. It was a stress that had been building up for Ariston and he had no idea what to do. "There really is nothing I can do, her opinions are pretty set in stone." Heartless never did anything, let alone acknowledge that she actually had children. Though, Loveless had stated many times that she found her mother to be an embarrassment for how she hid and lurked.

Glancing at his father before answering, Antony nevertheless gave Loveless a conspiratorial wink before whispering. "I never TRIED to get in trouble, naturally...I just found it. Or rather, it found me. Sometimes you can't help but get in trouble, in spite of your best efforts."

It was amazing that he'd actually been able to keep a straight face as he spoke, all things considered. Technically speaking, he HAD tried to get in trouble a few times, trouble in the sense that he knowingly broke rules. He could have done without the trouble part, obviously, but as long as you didn't get caught...

However, he didn't think that this was the best time to talk about such things. Pointedly glancing from Loveless to their fathers, he gave her a grin and whispered, "we'll have to talk later. When there's no parents around!"

At Ariston's question about his sons, Guilian could only grin. "It seems we have it backwards of each other, Ariston; I bever had any issues with my sons that required much of anything. Both of them always seemed more...well, windish than kalona. Nicholi especially is a charming fellow; I don't think that he ever embraced so much as a single truly violent thought. However, in dealing with all three I often had to physically intervene. Neve has never cared for Antony, and since Antony felt the same way and Nicky got along best with Tony...there were a few fights. Hell, there are STILL a few fights."

Sighing, he glanced over at his son, noting how Tony was grinning and teasing Loveless. Strange that that handsome, smiling visage could become so vicious, so twisted with anger and loathing...and at his own sister.

Consequently, he could slightly sympathize with what Ariston was saying. "Somehow, in spite of the vast differences between Izusa and myself, the kids never truly 'chose sides.' However, the boys tended to sympathize with me more often, and Neve with her mother, just as a rule. But there is decent parental respect...mostly." If one discounted Neve telling him to abandon other mares and Tony telling Izusa to back off. "No, it's the kids who have issues. Nicky and Tony are close enough, but Neve? A complete loner. The last time she and Tony spent time together, there was blood."

Scandalous much? Either way, Loveless loved what Antony said, and was happy that they could exclude themselves from their already exclusive parents! (( XD <3 )) "That sounds good to me!" She basked herself in the attention, something her father had always taught her to do.

But, there were other things she wondered about Antony. She was well aware of what a flirt her father was, and from seeing his relationship to Guilian, how he acted towards females as well. "So, are you a big flirt like them?" She was still really unsure of what flirt meant, especially the 'older' more grown up aspects of the word, but she was well aware when her father was giving another mare different attention then he gave to their mother. "I get angry when my dad does that, the females are always so ugly." Of course she WOULD say that, every other female to her was ugly. "I wonder if I will be pretty when I'm older, I already look like my mother so much.." She turned her playful face into a scoff, and she shook away any thoughts on her mother before turning to look at Antony.

It did feel like they had it backwards, and as Ariston listened, he felt sorry for Guilian's dilemmas as well. "I am sorry to hear that, but who knows, maybe things will be patched in the future?" Obviously, that was a tough call, something that he was sure Guilian would wish for. Ariston didn't even want to think about what problems he would have when the kids grew up.

"It seems Loveless and her brothers get along pretty well," which was true, even though Loveless would get jealous of attention, she had no personal beef with any of them. "But it is just her mother who she depises, which I believe is the reasoning of learning more about Kalonas from other Kalonas." And, what would happen when she heard about how worthless Ariston was? Would their extremely close relationship go down the drain? "She already questions why I hang around lessers, but, I guess i will just have to see." From watching Guilian and his children grow up, it looked as though that was the best option. Just waiting to see what would develop here and there, and what would change for the worse, or better.

One thing Antony would have to say about today was that it had no shortage of surprises. Loveless was an interesting little thing, arrogant and engaging all at once! He wondered idly if he had ever been this way, or if his sister had had these qualities in any comparable amount...but the problem with trying to compare memories to tangibles was that his memories were the memories of a foal, and foals as a rule tended to have views adults would find skewed.

Then again, they could also be a LOT more direct than adults, as her next comment proved. However, being that Tony had grown up exposed to...free ideas, it wasn't quite the shock it might have otherwise been to be asked about his habits.

Without missing a beat, he gave the filly a shrug. "Depends on what your definition is, I suppose. If you mean like them," this with a head jerk towards the others, "then not exactly; I have my differences, naturally...and I guess you can say I'm actually more of a true FLIRT than either one of them!" This last bit was accompanied by a laugh; he knew Guilian's views on being a flirt (flirts talked the talk, but didn't deliver), and figured that Ariston shared them. As for he himself, well...his priorities were a bit different, true. No matter to a filly, at least!

Grinning, he gave her cheek a pat. "Considering who your father is, I don't think you have to worry about growing up ugly, Lessy. But you'll have time to worry about that once you're grown, eh?" Or once she started learning about that sort of thing from her parents!

Ah, the doubts of parenting; a true test for those who weren't used to experiencing such things. Guilian had gotten his share, and now it seemed as though even Ariston wasn't immune.

"The best we can do is try, ultimately remembering that our children are their own people and that all we can do is hope they'll listen to us. I can't say I know what will happen with mine; they are half-kalona, after all, and sometimes blood will tell. I have confidence in their abilities to decide things for themselves, however..."

And now he was rambling again. Whoops! Smiling, he glanced from Ariston to Loveless, then looked rather pointedly at himself. "Well, so far she doesn't seem to mind...we'll have to hope that doesn't change, no?"
PostPosted: Sun May 27, 2007 2:31 pm

She didn't really have a definittion yet, but she didn't want to show him that she was stupid. For a second, she idly stared off, until a lightbulb turned on in her head. "A true flirt? Well, maybe that is better then what they do. At least you have your own way of doing it, ya know?" She giggled, again really having no true thoughts on the subject. But, it was interesting that he was different from his own father. I guess it proved to her that it was alright to have different ways of doing things.

At his next comment, she grinned lightly. "Well, we all know my father is beautiful," She stopped herself suddenly, before thinking about how to continue. "But, my mother is not, so I hope I am not a spitting image of her. Everyone is already telling me that." She kicked at the ground, lost in her thoughts. "I worry about a lot of things now, older folks tell me it is strange to think so much, but I would rather have the thinking done now, and the doing done when I'm older." Her face molded into a different one, and she grinned as darkly as ever. "I like having my priorities all straightened out."

He laughed at Guilians correction, enjoying him when he ranted. "No no, please continue. I enjoy hearing tales about your family, it helps me ponder how to get ready for my own you know." Its true, the best advice he could get was hearing how others dealt with their problems.

"Its scary, since a few days ago she has been as bitter as ever. Tody has been good because she is able to enjoy herself without feeling distracted by her mind." It would be nice if she would just hold herself innocent for the time being, but from what he overheard from her, she disliked petty foal thoughts. "Heartless and I are very taken aback by her, and even her brothers react to her coldness." He molded his mouth into a grin, and playfully looked at Guilian. "Meh, even if this means having another wild female on our hands, I guess it will be funny to watch from an observers view." It was a strange way to think about it, but it was the only postitive way that Ariston could put something evil with something humorous.

"Heh, she may be a monster, but she is a beautiful one, ain't she?" He laughed.

"Indeed she is, my friend; and I don't doubt that she'll become even moreso as she ages. You should be very proud of that, if nothing else." Guilian was having such a good time that he'd all but lost track of the actual amount that was passing. However, when a bright beam of light from the setting sun managed to shine right into his eyes, the cardinal stallion realized with a start just how much time had passed.

"Wow, how time flies when one is in the presence of good friends. I have to get going, Ariston; it's not safe to be out in the open this late anymore..."

Almost instinctively, Guilian glanced skywards, looking for some sign that he'd been found out. There was nothing...but that didn't mean there couldn't be. Izusa was a hunter, after all, and he was the prey. But unlike her usual prey, he could be wily himself. "I'm sure you can understand, though."

Stepping away from his friend, he glanced over at where Antony and Loveless were talking, debating whether or not he should say anything. After all, Tony was on his own these days; and if he wanted to stay and talk some more...

However, Antony had been trailing his father earlier for a reason. Looking away from Loveless long enough to see his father eye the horizon and the sky, he realized with a start that Guilian was planning on taking off. Maybe from here, but they still needed to talk!

Looking back at Loveless, he gave her a wide smile. "And you are certain on your way to having everything in perfect order when you're an adult, something you'll have to fill me in on the next time we meet. Looks like my dad's getting ready to take off, so I ought to get going too!" Giving the filly a wink, he quickly closed the distance between himself and the older stallions. "Well, I guess we're off then. It's been entertaining as always, Ariston!"
