"Oh!" Aislinn started the cold water in the sink and took the cup from him, leaning against the counter and setting her own down in order to do so properly,
"Hurry, put your hands under the water. The ice will help too."
Stupid. She hadn't even thought about the fact that his hands were now so large and difficult to work with. And then of course they were sore too, so she couldn't possibly expect him to be able to hold the damned cup. What had she been thinking?
"Just put the cup anywhere, it doesn't matter."
She'd rather he didn't break it-- she was rather attached to her tea set, but she could get more teacups. She only had one friend like him, "I'm so sorry. I can't believe I was so stupid. I didn't even think..."
She shook her head, pulling the hair back into a faux ponytail, and then letting it go again: she was many with that nervous habit of playing with her hair when upset, "Please forgive me..."

Oz had already started to suck his scalded fingers, his already wrinkled face scrunched up in a wince. He'd expected to see some kind of reaction from Aislinn, as most girls normally make a fuss when someone has an accident. But this...
"It wasn't your fault...what you saying sorry for?" he asked her, looking at her slightly confused.
He put his hands under the running water and after brief stinging, he started to feel its cooling relief. His hands were made of tougher skin now though, and as he withdrew a hand to inspect the damage...there was very little. It was too dark a skin tone to see a burn and showed no serious damage.

She shook her head, "For...not thinking. I should've realized it'd be just as difficult for you to manage as for me."
She reached up into the cabinet for a small bowl, "Perhaps we'll put some tea in this instead? Maybe that'll be a bit easier to work with."

"Aislinn...it happens...I wouldn't worry about it..." he said comfortingly.
It was true. He'd lost count of the number of times he thought he could still do 'human' things like hold a cup of tea, have a shower, even sit on the toilet! And each time, he felt stupid and embarrassed, which always ebbed away to loathing of the labs.
"Oh, I can get that..." he offered instinctively, reaching a long powerful arm up to the cupboard and fishing out a small bowl.
All without having to stand up.

Aislinn laughed, "So you can. Now -that's- impressive," she commented on his reaching the bowl while seated, "Why can't I have useful talents like that with my changes? I just get a big arse and a useless tail."
She shifted her weight a bit-- her side was getting tired of holding up her weight, and so she went back to the walker, "I see why your hands are so sore. You'll have to ice them down at night 'til they get used to it, I think. That'll help with the swelling anyhow. I don't know that joint medicine or whatever will really work on you now."

Oz hadn't realised what he'd done until he placed the bowl on the counter and then took another look at the cupboard of its origin. Any feat like that would have normally been followed by self-adulations and an over-dramatic bow or something. This time though, Oz just went silent and pulled his long, muscular arms close to him.
"Hrrrmmm, I thought so," he said, those big amber-brown eyes looking quite dulled by the news. "Can I even take painkillers or something?"
Being turned into an animal made things as simple as alleviating pain suddenly complicated.

Aislinn nodded, "I should think so. I'd take smaller doses than the recommended at first, but if it doesn't work, just up it a bit. With the added body mass, chances are you'll actually need more than the human dose if you're using Advil or something."
She knew that dogs and cats usually could take children's doses of medicine, but they also were smaller in size, and size was often the reason for these sorts of things. A bigger guy would need more medicine to get an effect, just like alcohol.

Oz just nodded, the thought of maybe taking TOO many tablets having already crossed his mind on numerous occasions during his stay on the Island. But painkillers were probably restricted at the medical centre, to prevent such scenarios. He'd have to find a way to cheat the system...
If Aislinn was over feeling guilty about the accident, Oz might ask for another cup of tea...since he didn't get to try the first one. However, another question took greater precendence...boyish smile spreading over simian muzzle...
"So...why the new fashion statement? Not that I'm complaining..." he smirked.

Aislinn laughed. She should've know the question was coming, though she'd all but forgotten about her nudity at this point.
"Oh, I just figured it wasn't worth the bother anymore. Besides, shirts look bizarre on me with this whole half-horse thing going on."
She'd never really seen pictures of centaurs with any sort of shirt or anything anyhow, except sometimes armor. She imagined it would have looked bizarre..and she certainly wasn't about to try wearing armor about. Going half nude was bad enough.

"Like I said...doesn't bother me," he continued to smirk, eyes visibly shifting from her eyes to her bust now. "And of course, naked is all the rage at the moment. Just look at me, trend setter that I am."
That feeling of normalacy was creeping up on him again. After everything he'd been through, everything he'd witnessed, and everything he was yet to witness, this normalacy was bittersweet. As much as he craved this again, so much desired to just talk to a friend without the worry of suddenly grooming them, it also stung at him inside. A sharp and cutting reminder of what his life used to be.
Couldn't he have both? Why did this have to feel horrible as well as pleasurable?
Oz looked visibly troubled, but that boyish smile kept flashing back to his face, confusing his outward appearance more.
"Heh...you're not gonna let anyone...ride you, are you? I'd hate to think of anyone spanking your bum."
