Telor I've always felt that the laws in place to regulate alcohol would work great for weed. I mean, no walking down the street drinking a beer; no walking down the street smoking a joint. No drinking until you're ; no smoking weed until . No driving under the influence of either. You'd need a permit for growing a significant amount of pot just like you need a permit to operate a brewery. It would be available in different strengths just like booze is available in different strengths.
The government would get a slice, so they'd have nothing to b***h about. And they could start cracking down on the real drug dealers instead of old ladies cooking hash brownies to help with their arthritis.
Seems to me like extensive marijuana use has no worse effects than long-term alcohol use. I mean, potheads are just as useless in society as alcoholics, on average.
And the snack food companies would LOVE it. xd
Also, I think Naru's post was more concerning the fact that you shouldn't be surprised that you're getting hassled since you're doing something illegal, nevermind that the laws making it so are dumb.I totally think that laws like that would work. Well, since this new generation is pretty different from the adults out there now, who knows what the future will be like. Maybe it will become legal and maybe it won't. So far the two pages I read on why it should be illegal had rather wishy washy arguments. They keep saying weed is worse than tobacco or alcohol but it doesn't seem that way.

Kurokitsume The reason they Deem weed worse is the lack of Quality Control. Exactly! Which would be completely solved with government acceptance and regulation.

Here they're trying to ban tobacco, but the alcohol problem is pretty bad. Kids of 11 getting completely plastered, stupid things like that.
There's some odd drug called Shisha? That's legal here. No idea what it is. But it doesnt seem any different from weed. I gotta admit, it doesnt seem any worse than alcohol, and a lot of students here want it legalised too. And people don't get aggressive with it too; so in that respect it's better than alcohol.

Hehe. Special brownies. > 3> [/laughing at page-old telor post]
Eeeh, the whole drug sitation currantly happening most places is pretty stupid though. o _o It doesn't seem like it'll be worked out any time soon, either, considering the people that would like to change the laws usually aren't in any sitation to be able to change them, and the people who could change the laws wouldn't, to keep their image or reputation. A lot of it has gotten to be really bad hype by now, I think. >_>; From all the anti-drug commurcials and 'just say no' health classes, it's pretty hard to change someone's opinion on the matter. I think it's going a bit in the way of the underage sex thing? Like, schools really should be teaching moderation and things like that, instead of just saying 'NO DON'T DO IT IT'S BAD', because most people will just go around the laws anyways. o _o The government people just being generally stupid about it doesn't help either. > 3>
Then again, my opinion might just be a bit warped on this subject, considering my school still is called Hippy High by a lot of people, and that my physics teacher knows how much a pillow-size thing of marijuana weighs. XD (At least the people smoking in the back lot went away in the 80s)

I think it's going a bit in the way of the underage sex thing? Like, schools really should be teaching moderation and things like that, instead of just saying 'NO DON'T DO IT IT'S BAD', because most people will just go around the laws anyways. o _o Umm, yeah. Here, they do teach how to practise safe sex, to 13 YEAR OLDS. I wish they wouldn't. 13 year olds should not need to know about this sort of stuff. In fact, without the whole thing at school, it's highly unlikely any of them are actually thinking about having sex. Or sex at all! They're too preocupied with their OWN changing bodies, and rightfully so. They also dont let you take a headache tablet without permission from your parents, but you can have an abortion whenever, including underage, without your parents even knowing about it. I think people should be taught safe sex stuff at 15. That way, they do know about it by the time it's legal (here it's 16) but not too early. At 13 they should be taught about how their own bodies work. We get a little bit of that in primary school, but then seem to skip a massive chunk, and go, "ok! You're not even a grown up yet, and shouldnt be exposed to all the stuff you are in the media and in schools, but who cares!" Bleh. They talk about it so clinically too, nothing about the emotional sides. I only know that the emotional side happens from other people; abortions cause major depression that goes on for years in mosst women, sex complicates things a lot, and makes break ups hurt so much more. Those are the things we should be talking about in schools.

Telor I don't understand why weed is still illegal. I mean, come on. It's a ******** plant. So's [insert really poisonous plant here]. ;P [/smartass] And yes, Trav, please don't bash officers for doing their job. But yeah, often times they can be retarded and focus on dumb, insignificant problems rather than the real ones. ... Hmm. Roissy's opinion is that yes, it's a drug, and yes, one should stay away from it. But of course not everyone does that. So I just hope that people that choose to do so are responsible about it. Unfortunately, sometimes people get out of hand, such as with alcohol, and drive drunk, and...yeah, that's not good. Travmeister The argument for why marijuana should be illegal is that 'it's a drug?' What about the countless millions of prescription drugs that are legalized by government? Are you trying to tell me that those are 'safe drugs' because your government has approved of them? I'll tell you something from experience: Presciption drugs can, and usually do, ******** you up way harder then weed can ever do. I take prescription drugs. Yeah, they're approved by the government, but how much can I trust them? It can potentially ******** me up worse than any other illegal drug out there. I think it has, already. So much for that. ...They should totally make driving under the influence punishable by death. That would significantly stop people from doing it...I mean, if you know you're going to die if you drive drunk, you're not going to take the risk xD; Kinda joking about this, but in theory it seems good. I suppose the really bad thing about weed is that you're around other druggies who might abuse harder substances, you're more likely to try those. Gateway drug, mmhmm. FishyLady Umm, yeah. Unfortunately, some thirteen year olds are already sexually active. Not most, some. And they're going to do it. Teenagers are horn dogs, so we need to teach them proper ways to protect themselves. I always overheard people talking in middle school about 'MAN i had great sex last weekend'. Some of them may be lying, but it's kinda sad someone would do that so young. Thirteen's still a kid. FishyLady They also dont let you take a headache tablet without permission from your parents, but you can have an abortion whenever, including underage, without your parents even knowing about it. School rules vs government rules. Bad comparasion there, Fish. xD FishyLady Bleh. They talk about it so clinically too, nothing about the emotional sides. I only know that the emotional side happens from other people; abortions cause major depression that goes on for years in mosst women, sex complicates things a lot, and makes break ups hurt so much more. Those are the things we should be talking about in schools. Yeah, the emotion side can be ignored. We should focus on that more... Sex can potentially ******** up a relationship, but sometimes strengthen it. Unfortunately, most of the time, relationships consist of nothing but horny teenagers screwing eachother and as a result, they get pretty ******** up, emotionally. Roissy included >>; [nitpick] Sometimes women who get abortions may feel relieved because they didn't want the little bugger. I know I would. But yeah, the majority of women are all 'oh, i killed a potential life, what would the future have been like if I had a screaming annoying little kid in my life'? [/bias] [/nitpick] HAHA REALLY LONG, UNORGANIZED POST. My bad. surprised

I've gotta throw in that when I was thirteen, I DEFINITELY knew about sex. I've known all about it since I was like, seven or eight. No adults or anyone actually talked about it to me until grade seven (thirteen-ish), and that was just the stupid sex ed in Health... we were laughing, because it seemed like they actually expected us to... not know anything. >_>
Maybe it's just my area, but everyone around here has known about sex since waay before they were able to have it, and a lot of us were sexually active really, really early. I mean like, not me, of course, because... uh... I wasn't ever that interested in DOING it, just talking about it.
And making really, really perverted jokes.
And hitting on my friends with lines like, "Hey. *Holds up a quarter* If I flip a coin, what are the chances of me getting head? ;D" (lulz, I'm funny)
xD I'm still not all that interested (unless it's with you guys, oh sexy Jellowship, winkwinknudgenudge). My dad seems to think I am, though. We were buying a new mattress for me (my other one was about ten years old-- aren't we awesome?) and he was alluding to my future sexual activity when talking to the salesman. I was like, "Hey! Hey, Dad! No."
Right. Drugs. With my friends, I'm always the one who's like "Calm the ******** down." One of my friendpeople was smoking pot and my two other friends were taking SHITFITS and I was like, "Yeah... okay... shhh."
I'm less likely to freak out over someone smoking pot than I am to freak out over someone drinking too much, but that's just 'cause of my parents. :B Whatev. S'all cool. s'all chill.
