I think I might get a job so I can save up and buy a Wii and a PSP since I highly doubt my parents will ever buy me either haha. I asked for a Wii for Christmas and they got one for my brother for when he moved out mad

I got if for my birthday. heart
It's fun, but some of the features are annoying. Like having to wait a whole week for the story updates. That gets old fast. Also, the fact that you can have bad storms (hurricanes) during any season is annoying. Especially when it can wipe out your entire crop section. stressed
For a portable, the graphics are nice, and everything looks good, and I like the Bask&t rail stuff and the robot. There are some things that bug me, though, mainly:
Pets=worthless. ...Okay, so they're pretty much worthless in all the other games, too, but in this one, they're especially worthless. xd
Skill points=worthless. They don't seem to have any real effect on gameplay. Heck, I'm only in Fall of the first year (the game lasts 2 years), and I've almost already maxed out all my skill points. gonk
Farming & making money=pointless. I had this same problem with Save the Homeland. It just seems like there's no real reason for you to earn money in the game. There's no upgrades to buy, and once you buy all your animals, the only thing you really need to buy is Bask&t rail stuff and seeds. Joy. More seeds to make more money that I don't really need. stare
Mining=semi-important=annoying. I've never been a big fan of spelunking in mines in Harvest Moon. For me, it's always been about getting my hands dirty in the soil and taking care of my animals. In this, as I mentioned before, farming becomes unnecessary after a while, and your animals are fed automatically by a machine. The only thing you have to do is brush them once and they're good. This frees up the rest of your day to make friends with people in town, which really isn't important as you can't get married and I really don't think it'll make a difference story-wise because you'll probably make friends with everyone naturally as you progress through the story, anyway. So then your other option is to search through these elaborate, labrynthian mines in order to find the different jewels to unlock the seals on your fields. But even then, those are only found in chests, which are strewn about in an annoyingly-limited supply.
Cooking=pointless. You don't have to gather any materials to cook; all you have to do is ship crops like any good farmer would, watch the Cooking Show on TV every week to learn new recipes, and then make the food. (And the only reason you need to ship crops is to make different versions of the recipes, i.e. You can't make the Tomato Salad until you've actually grown and shipped some Tomatoes.) Now, I say cooking is pointless, but I've read that there is an event that can only take place if you've watched all the cooking shows and have a high cooking skill, but other than that, it really serves no other greater purpose. And filling up your recipe books is a snap; I'm in fall of year one and have almost completely filled mine except for maybe 3 recipes.
The overall concept of the game is nice, but I wish it would've been executed better. :sigh:
...I meant to speak well of the game, but this turned into a rant-fest about all it's hiccups and faults....oops. sweatdrop I guess it's because I'm disappointed because I really wanted to like this game. crying
