In a baseball game the Simpsons sang the Canadian Anthem.
I was wrong with one thing when I posted in that mule. It was Homer eats donuts, beer, bacon, and has been know to have a glass of maple syrup for breakfast: foods commonly associated with Canada.
Matt Groening frist sold the comic strip which eventually turned into the Simpsons in Toronto Canada(1982). His father's name was Canadian and is named "Homer".
Matt even stated in an interview "That would make Homer Simpson a Canadian" after confirming that Homer J. Simpson was based off his father.
Though the town does not exist in Canada as "Springfield" but as "Winnipeg".
first, the simpsons isn't based off of a comic strip, he had a comic strip about rabbits, (Life In Hell), not a simpsons comic, at least until the simpsons was a show
Also, on one of the simpsons seasons DVD commentary, they stated that they didn't want them to live in a real place, so they said springfeild, thinking as it is a generic name. they never actually planned on the simpsons being know from a state
