Many of Tama's thoughts had also appeared in Kei's mind when his mother had given birth to he and his cubs. As he was brought up, held in a higher light than his siblings, he questioned his mother. He questioned the pridelands and he became greatly angered. There was nothing Kei could do about the actions of his mother. There was something he could do for Tama. He could remain in her company and help her out in her time of need. Though she did not share her inner thoughts with him, he knew partially how she felt and would remain with her until she decided she no longer needed him.
Kei understood why Tama did not trust him. In fact, Kei trusted no one in the roguelands. The reason he remained in her company was because she was a cub, in need of company and someone to speak to. At the small lioness' question, the dark male tried to think of some explanation that she would accept. "I too have had horrible nightmares. About my mother and my brothers.." Kei had not told anyone about his family and it seemed to release something from his shoulders to speak of them out loud. "I have many younger brothers that all passed away because of my mother's absense. She cared for me above the others because..."
It was at this point that Kei realised that Tama had not heard a word of what he was saying. She had fallen before him, absolutely still. Kei's eyes widened and he knelt beside her to listen for her heart beat. When he found it, he seemed a bit relieved. Curling up near her, Kei decided that he would remain beside her until she woke. He stayed at her side throughout the night, falling asleep and keeping her safe.
