Kei smiled. As opinionated as Baala was, she had many great views and her thoughts, if completely accurate to the actions of the pride, were correct. A pride could not live without hunters and so many to feed. What Kei was not sure about, however, was if that was truly happening to the pridelands. "I agree with you, Baala. There need to be many hunters in order to feed an entire pride, but if the fathers of these litters are anything like myself, they will at least provide for their families even if they do not classify themselves as hunters. Hunting is not limited to those who are known as such. Or, I do not see it that way.." He grinned a bit. Although prides typically had the females do the hunting, Kei couldn't put one of his favorite hobbies past him. It would be strange to allow others to hunt for himself. It gave him a sort of satisfaction devouring a meal that he hunted for himself. He was independent.

"I'm not sure that that is true, Baala. Although hunting and caring for younger cubs are very important, I can see the importance of storytelling and searching out other lions to join your pride. Without a legacy, a pride may be nothing. It is Mufasa's ruling that inspired many to join. He was a kind, gentle lion and if they had no one to remind them, the pride may change greatly. And while many fear change, two rulers may also benefit them. Perhaps two brains are better than one? If one misses something clearly important, they have another to find it out. There may be problems between them, but the way I see it.. those problems stay between them until they're solved."

And while the two were so deep in conversation, Kei almost forgot why they got on the topic to begin with. "How has a rogue lioness come up with some great opinions of the pridelands? Are you seeking a pride to call your home?"

"Yes, but you are different. You would hunt for yourself when other males would let the females do their 'job'. The males of this pride mainly have the easy life." The words seemed spiteful, not about Kei being different, but in fact about males in general. She was terribly biased, and in her mind females would always be superior to males. Males lounged about and did nothing... and only brought hurt. They were not to be trusted, and even now she did not trust Kei. Sure, he was great at holding conversations with, but just because they were having a friendly chit-chat did not mean that she trusted him. No, her eyes still surveyed him closely, watching his every move and analyzing his words and the tone of his voice. She was cautious. Baala wasn't born that way, and instead the life she led had brought her to be so cautious. Only when she was desperate for friendship and some sort of a family did she lose her cautious nature for a little while. It always came back, and now it came back more then ever. She did not trust him.

"This pride is big enough. It does not need more members, and storytelling only provides cubs with a distraction for a hour or so. It's not substantial... nothing important. Any cub could do without it and live a balanced life. I was told barely any stories when I was a youth." She shook her head in disagreement, icy blue eyes peering out at Kei from behind yellow bangs. "There will be conflict, and though they are siblings and have a close connection... there will be differences between them. I think it was a mistake to choose to have the both of them lead. The oldest cub should've been picked."

She leaned forward, stretching out her long limbs with a faked yawn. It was over-exaggerated, a hint that Kei was reaching a rather delicate topic. When faced with such a thing, Baala ignored it, and in most cases she left rather the face a questioning gaze. She stood back up, slowly approaching Kei, and as she passed him her body barely touched his own. "I have done my studying. A home? Maybe." They were evasive answers, and probably the last he would get on that subject. "I must be going now. I've got a friend to meet up with, and I wouldn't want to worry her with me being gone for so long. Perhaps I'll see you again, hmmm?" She turned her gaze to him one final time, before walking away and back to Kiuma.

By Baala's statement about Kei being different, the lion puffed out his chest lightly. She had clearly begun to open up to him because this statement, although not a direct compliment, indicated that Baala thought more of him than she did of the male pridelanders. Kei was proud that he had managed to break into the tough shell of such a closed in lioness. He hoped that even if the two parted ways, he might run into her again.

Kei allowed the female to again speak her mind and this time he chose not to object to her opinion. She was entitled to her views and though Kei, himself, did not have great ideals of the pridelands, he found many of their ways interesting. Looking Baala over, the male wondered if perhaps lack of storytelling and affection was the reason she was so cold. Though the activity is short and only may last an hour or two, the cubs come together as a group and are spoken to by an elder in which they can look up to and learn from. Many stories have lessons to be learned from them and once the story is over, the cubs have a chance of making new friends.

When Baala walked past and brushed up against Kei, the male only smiled. He understood not to chuckle and have the female return in a fit of rage. She was to be heading off and the two would part, perhaps never to meet again. During their meeting, however, Kei had a pleasant conversation. He only hoped that his kindness would have somehow left an impression of the lioness.

"Have a pleasant travel, Baala.." He said quietly.
