Omg one time it was earlier before the concert we were practicing our bowing and my friend kayla raised her french horn above her head and then she began to flip off my other buddy brad. They cant stand each other half the time so it was quite funny. Also the same day we had to sit on bleachers to see where we'd all sit. Anyway we were sitting on the bleachers and suddenly my friend kyle started the whole we will rock you thing. and then earlier in 2007 my fellow hornist jack put his head on his stand and you know what, his horn was on it. so when he put his head down, the horn fell down. and it was supposed to be silent and focussed. It was hularious. so he was all blushing and the whole brass section (we are all together on the left hand side of the room when you east) was laughing including jack, me, and kayla the only hornist in the entire sixth grade. And people say I cant join jazz but I will prove em wrong just wait and SEE!

One time I was playing in a concert (don't remember the song) and I almost dropped my bow. burning_eyes I am SO glad it didn't, that would have been really, really REALLY embarassing. redface

Well. I am in Orchestra playing the Cello now. But this is a funny story for when I was in 5th Grade Choir.

So, It was out Spring Concert and some of the Choir Giries had a fun little Fazz dance with feather Boa's, Big Hoop Earrings, And Very bright Polka-Dotted socks, While the Choir was singing in the back. About halfway through the song there was a Saxaphone that this kid in Band had played, One of the girls in Choir on the back row of the raisers had Hearing issues well, She heard things too loudly. She was sick with the flu when we rehearsed with the Saxaphone, So she had No clue that it was coming. So when the Saxaphone's part came.. She fell down on the back raiser, Which sent the crowd gasping.. and the rest of the Choir on the back row falling like Domino's.
The dancers heard screaming and what not in the background so one girls feather boa got stuck to another's hoop earrings, But the last dancer was left standing, But she ran off of stage and went somewhere backstage...

Nobody was hurt, But the girl with Hearing Issues twisted her ancle...

I play percussion so I played the snare drum during the songs that we played. There was a part there I was to roll for 2 bars and I went to start the roll and brought my hand back, my drum-mate was standing close and I whacked him in the face with my stick which surprised me and caused me to miss the roll and I had accidentally dropped it on the drum which made a clang and then fell to the ground where it made a lot of noise. Goodness our BD was glaring at me for the rest of the concert, but we got straight 1's except for one 2

Heh heh.... I love these stories.

I was concert master when our Spring Trip went to Hershey Park. I had one of those Heifetz mutes, but since they don't stay on the instrument when not in use, I held it in my hand when I went on stage. On the way to tune the orchestra, it fell out of my hands and clanked all the way down, through the chorus risers, and down to the cement floor of the pit below. I stopped, stared for a few seconds, sighed, and continued. I had to sneak in during the next group's performance to try and fish it out from underneath the chorus risers.

During a rehearsal for my Conservatory Symphony Orchestra, our main percussionist went AWOL. During a pseudo-Grand Pause, he was suppose to roll away on timpani. Well, when that time came, the director cued it and announced, "Thunder" so casually so we knew what was suppose to happen during that time. Right at his cue, a beautiful roll of thunder happened outside.

In this same Symphony, we had an incident of a flying baton once too. Thank goodness it didn't impale our Viola Section Leader.

My funniest concert was back in middle school. Our band of 200 had just been seated, and our families were all packed into the school gymnasium with us (as we didn't fit anywhere else). It was snowing outside at the time, and the fire alarm went off. We all stared at each other for a few minutes before the directors decided we should all go outside. In the snow. On a hill. In our concert attire (skirts, high heels, etc.). Luckily it wasn't that bad - not too many people fell down, and it turned out the fire alarm was just for some dust in the ventilator or something - nothing serious, anyway. It was amusing though.

And I just recalled this story. In pit band practices (yeah, it probably doesn't belong here, but oh well), about half the pit brings their gameboy DS's and plays MarioCart. It's really funny to watch. Halfway through some line, one of the trumpet players will shout "Dang it Chris! What was that for?" while we're all watching with confused looks until we all start laughing... Yeah, you'd probably have to be there. We're considering getting the whole pit to play it, so when it's time for us to play, we'll all be scrambling to hit the pause button...
