Tanwen nodded her head softly and glanced up at the sky. The soft beams of sunlight danced across her face as she gazed through the canopy of leaves above her. "I think we all have to find who we are, we cant be a shadow of our mother or father, we are our own person.....if we where a shadow of them...that would be a sad existance."
She dropped her gaze to look at him again, he was still stiff, perhaps this converstation was not to his liking. A smile chanced across her face for but the flash of a second before it vanished again.
"Well, whatever your reasons for being here, it is a beautiful day to be out in the open. "

Kiefer nodded. He just had to stop this. It was just her eyes. Every soquili was different, more different than one could ever imagine, and her difference just happened to be more unsettling then others. He had to get over it. The stallion took a deep breath, trying to hide it, and made an attempt to relax. She was nice, he was being silly.
"You're right. My sisters...when I left, they stayed with pap...father, and mother. I have no idea if they are staying with them anymore or not, I hope not at least. I was always the one of the family the pushed the boundries the most, and they were the ones that kept me in check, for the most part. They can't do that for me anymore, but then again, I can't push them to take chances anymore." he said, worrying about them a bit. He felt, though, that they had gone. One couldn't stay with their parents forever.
"What about you? Do your parents live around here?" he asked, looking around. It was indeed a beautiful day. "Are you looking to find yourself as well, or simply on a walk?" he said, watching as she smiled for a moment. How odd, at home, he was always surrounded by smiles. When did they become rare?

The midnight mare nodded softly as she listened to him. "Well, its not like you couldnt visit home to see if they where around or not... Perhaps that would put you at ease some."
"Ah yes... My family moves all over really. We dont stay at one place long, always moving and seeing new things. Personally... I think Im out here for a bit of both. Its a wonderful day to be out for a walk, and while doing so you never know if you'll encounter something that could define who you are."
She paused for a moment, reflecting. "This meeting for instance, could be a turning point in our lives.. we could become fast friends, bitter rivals, or save eachothers life from a passing mountain cat." she chuckled and shook her head, each senario sounded funny but it was the best she could do to make her point. "Whatever the case... you never know whats around the next bend, or whats in the fork in the road. "

"Yea, I think I might visit them soon, although I am not sure if they are in the same place or not. My family mostly settled down in one place to raise my sisters and I, and sometimes my father and mother don't even see each other for a while. They try to stay together, but it is hard" he said, hoping to see them eventually, at least.
"I'd also like to visit more of my relatives, because...well, I don't know. I feel as if no one in my family is quite like myself, and I want to know how I ended up so crazy" he said, laughing. Little did Kiefer know of his mother and father's exploits before he was born, and how much of them DID rub off on him.
"Well, lets go then. Although I think out of that, I would probably like to be friends, since being rivals wouldn't be much fun, and even if we saved each other from a passing mountain cat, it still out be an experience I doubt I would look forward to" he said, laughing.
This mare gave him good advice, it seemed. She understood, to an extent, what he was going though, but she took it with a much more level head. Kiefer felt he often blew things out of proportion, made himself reasons to worry and think, because otherwise he would have nothing to do with himself.

Tanwen laughed and smirked softly. "No I doubt fighting a passing mountain cat would be something to look forward too....if it was you would have to be quite the agressive type."
She leaned down and took another juicy apple in her mouth. Biting it in half and savoring the sweet tangy flavor.
"I think you should visit them soon, It might clear some things up reguarding your family... and who they have become. No need to worry about them when they are just a visit away."

Kiefer nodded, beginning to walk along the grass. Where would they go? He looked over, and the 'path' seemed to be leading upwards. Perhaps onto a mountain? Or perhaps it was simply a large hill. Either way, it will lead to something new, and this area was getting quite boring, so he was up for it.
"You're right. I think I will visit them soon" he said, nodding. He dreaded the visit though, but he was sure he would be glad he did. "So, what is your family like?" he asked, very curious. Having basically spilled his guts on his family, he wanted to know what her's was like. Plus, maybe he would get more information to why her eyes were different!

Tanwen smiled at him a bit and followed his gaze down the path as it wound its way upwards into the hills. "well one cannot blame you for being a little scared to go home, things have changed.... and I believe even in the short time you have been away you have changed. Even just a little, into your own stallion. Perhaps you are scared your parents wont approve of who you are?"
Maybe she was being to litteral and reading into things to far again, she shook her head and cleared her throat and switched her mind to the question he had asked of her, hopefully she wasnt scaring him. "My family? well.... as I said apart from my mother Its all boys. I suppose I'm a bit like my mom for that, But I look more like my father. " she smiled as she thought of them both. She was a good balance of her fathers wild side and her mothers pride.
"My brothers I really havent seen since we where foals, but they are silly as any I suppose."

Kiefer paused, trying to figure out what she had said. Well, he understood it loud and clear. But had he changed? Could he really change so much, that he was worried? Yes. He could. Now he was more independent. He knew that much, but there was more. A little less fun loving, more serious. More like his dad.
But did he want that? Why would he want to be like his dad? He loved his dad, of course, but sometimes Bairn said or did things that made him angry. Like when he told Abattie that she didn't need friends, or that they were a waste of time, and she believed him. Kiefer might have believed him too if it weren't for his rebellion. He was never much for listening. He heard them all right, but he would never REALLY hear it until he experienced it, and learned that they were right or wrong. Often they were right. Sometimes they were wrong.
"Yes, I think you're right" he said, and paused. "That is too bad that you haven't seen your brothers. Perhaps one day you will run into them?" he said, grinning. Hopefully they would recognize each other. He heard about how sometimes foals grew up sepretly, then didn't recognize each other.. That would be horrible.

Tanwen smiled softly as she remebered her two brothers. "Yes, Im sure I'll see them again one day, just a matter of us crossing the same paths really. My father was all about freedom and so we all know that our hearts will lead us to were we need to be and our feet take us to new places where we may find that happiness."
She laughed softly as she remembered some distance memory of her foalhood. "and besides, its lifes journey that shapes who we become after all. I'm sure your parents and sisters will accsept you... I can see no reason why they wouldnt, but ... I did only just meet you."

Kiefer nodded. But how could she be so positive she would meet them? The world was so big, they could be anywhere! They could all walk in opposite directions for the rest of their lives, and it wouldn't be anything uncommon. Of course, the same went for him and his family, but he had never thought of it that way. He always seemed to know they would see each other again.
"You're right" he said, going up the steep mountain path. The air grew chiller the higher they went. Still, not unbearably cold. "I think this might go up for quite some time" he said, looking up at the path that didn't seem to ever begin to decline. In fact, it just kept getting steeper and steeper.

Tawen nodded softly as she continued to climb the steep path they had chosen. "Yes, it almost seems as if its a path that could lead into the clouds themselves doesnt it?" she asked him chancing a glance over in his direction.
She smiled softly as the wind blew around her, playing with her snow white locks before letting them settle slowly around her shoulders. "where do you think it will lead us?" She asked him.

Kiefer grinned. "Now that would be cool. I am a bit jealous of the Soquili that can fly. Seems so much more convenient, as opposed to walking. Much more fun, too" he murmured, straining his neck to see how far up it went, but he couldn't see a peak. The path curved a good deal, they must be encircling the mountain. Briefly he wondered how many Soquili must have climbed this mountain in order to carve out this path.
"Well..." he said, thinking. "I imagine it would be to the top of the mountain. I bet there will be snow up there" he said, remembering looking up at the mountains and seeing the white caps. He never was hugely found of snow, but it certainly looked pretty. Most of the time, at least.
"Do you like the snow?" he asked, taking a deep breath. They had only been going up for a short time, but at their swift pace, the air was already beginning to thin. He sucked in the oxygen again.

Tanwen nodded her head and looked to the sky herself. "I would like to fly someday. But as I was not gifted with wings I suppose that is a dream one cannot fullfill. While its true you could throw yourself off a cliff to experiance it.... Its not really flying is it? Just falling....and suicidal."
She looked back up the path and trotted a few steps forward to peer around the corner, yet the path only seemed to continue. "Up ahead it flattens out for awhile only to continue upwards again. I believe you're right when you say it may very well go to the top. I've never climbed that high before." She said sucking in a breath as she looked at the path. Her red eyes searching with wonder, this was indeed and adventure.
"Snow? The white fluffy stuff in winter? Its cold, but its nice all the same."

Kiefer laughed at her comment. Weather it was meant to be a joke or not, he didn't know. It amused him anyway. "Well, I guess you are right. I mean, it would be great. But if you think about the negatives.." he said, pausing. "It must be colder up there than it is up here, and tiring. I bet the wind rushes into your eyes, and I mean...Imagine running into a bird or bugs. I doubt it is as glamorous as it seems" he added.
Kiefer followed her, looking around the corner as well. "I see...well, we can either turn around or keep going. I would rather keep going" he said with a smile, craning his neck upwards. The mountain was becoming more apparent, he could make out it's form, against the sky.
"I was busy during winter, I didn't have much time to appreciate it" he said "All I remember is lots and lots of cold. I would like to see it again in winter to properly appreciate it" he said. Of course, maybe it was just wishful thinking in the summer heat.

Tanwen nodded her head and took a step towards the path. "Well why dont we keep going then, make and adventure of it." She chuckled softly to herself as she began to follow the path as it wove itself around the tall mountain side.
"I suppose its cold up there. The snow on the moutain peaks seem to stay all year long. One day I shall have to ask one of the winged ones how it is in the sky. " She added thoughtfully.
"The snow its cold and at times it can be hard to keep warm even with the sun full over head. I dont mind it that much though, Its fun to play in."
