I agree with what you're saying about Tasuki and Chichiri, but have you noticed the amazing number of people on the net who don't? I mean, Tasuki/Chichiri is so popular, just because the two characters are so close. They're the last Suzaku seishi left, of course they're going to be close. It's amazing the number of people who think that if two characters are very close they must be in love (VERY common in LOTR fandom). For the most part I think that the Seishi bond is more of a sibling thing (though there are certainly exceptions- Tokaki and Subaru come to mind, as well as Nuriko, Tomo and Soi).

Wow. A rant. (For the interested, I've posted my opinions on yaoi fics over at The Order of the Phoenix Guild in the fanfiction.net thread. I don't feel like copying it all out here. Yeah, I'm lazy.)

I just read it and I agree with you. There is nothing wrong with pairing two men/two female characters together but it has to be well written and make sense! If the characters are originally written as straight then they should slowly relaize that they have feelings for someone of the same sex. They should not just be thrown together with any random character with no seemingly plausible reason. A good story shows character/relationship development.


And going back to Chichiri: I agree with you Nakago that he will likely just have strong friendships. I think part of the reason he would never leave his duties is linked to the fact that he would never again get involved in a romantic relationship.

That's...kinda creepy. I can't really imagine it. I think that Tasuki and Nuriko would make a better couple

I don't really see Tasuki with anyone in FY. I suppose that's why he's so popular with squeeling-fangirl-types, because he's canonically available. That's probably the same reason why Mistukake doesn't have hoards of squeeling fangirls: because he's spoken for (anyone who tells me Mitsukake's not hot gets hit over the head with the kwanzaa plank. actually, please do. i need the stress relief)

I agree with you Nakago. Now there's a sentence I'd never thought I'd say. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against blond, B*stards. In fact, I root for them every once in a while...it's just that there's something about you that makes me want to hurl broken glass in your general direction. heart heart heart

Anywhoo, about the Chi/Tas relationship, I've had enough of it in the fics. I somehow just can't stand the fact...it feels...WRONG. Plus throw in the whole emotional segment of his life and you really see them more like friends than a couple. I do disagree with the whole never-love-again concept. However, I believe that is someone is truly going to reach him they're going to have to help him deal with the past and litterally fight for it, not blunder into it which seems to be very Tasuki-like. xd

If you do your reasearch, which I have done EXTENSIVELY. Kouran saw Hikou and Houjun as her two best friends. Houjun was the one who tried to make more out of the relationship, but when Hikou came out with his feelings, Kouran was torn between them because SHE LOVED THEM BOTH. She was bound by duty to Houjun ergo when she broke that trust, Houjun felt betrayed. Not only because she was his lover but HIS BEST FRIEND AS WELL. The love he felt for Kouran, although sincere did not bond them as deeply as say, Miaka and Tamahome's because unlike the before mentioned couple, Kouran and Houjun's relationship was based off the strong ties of friendship. Their "love" relationship therefore remained that of one that failed to blossom because of its short life-span. (whew long rant)
