Journal Entry 1, November 29th Wow, I've been wandering quite a bit these past several weeks. I'm glad that I've finally found this book of parchment, I figured I'd lost it. I tend to do that. Considering the circumstances, I've decided that it would be appropriate to keep a journal. I managed to get myself two very interesting Pokemon during my travels, along with learning many things about the both of them. They seem to be complete opposites, in terms of personality. There's my Eevee, Akuen, who acts very shy around outsiders. Though, I've also noticed that he tends to take to the shadows rather quickly, and despite his appearance, I really think he's heading in the right direction in his development. After all, darkness is best. I hope to teach that to every Pokemon I team up with. Gouka, my Flareon, seems to stray. He's such a showoff, and I'm not sure how well I'll be able to control him. He's acted decent enough within the few small battles he's participated in, though they were only with wild Pokemon that we'd run into between destinations. But, when he comes upon a stranger, he's quick to approach them. This isn't something I'm too keen on, because then I have to go after him. He seems to think that he can get admiration from everyone, I have no idea who he learned this from. I'm not nearly this narcissistic. What am I going to do with him? They've both been questioning me on a living place. I'm a wanderer, where do they expect me to live? I'm not too keen on the idea, but I'll do what's best for them, temporarily or not. Regardless, I've been searching for the proper place to set up residence, but I've turned up next to nothing. I was thinking of an area within or around a lot of woodland, few inhabitants, I hate highly populated areas. I'll have to look around some more, there's got to be a perfect place somewhere on this continent...

Journal Entry 2, December 6th Wow, it's been several days since I wrote in this thing. But, I just had to put my good news down on parchment! Two days ago, I was accepted into a growing company. I'm one of the newest members of Team Rocket! I wonder if I should really be writing this here, Master Giovanni forbids anyone outside of the hideout to know. Meh, nobody will get their paws on this journal. No worries. Anyhow, we've been assigned to keep an eye on Hotaru and her adoption center. I like Hotaru a lot, but I have to do my job. Besides, Master Giovanni never said we had to hurt anyone. Well, other than that bit about experiments possibly being conducted on our own Pokemon. I'm sure Gouka and Akuen will be just fine.

Journal Entry 3, December 12th I can't believe it! We found a place to call home. An entire forest on top of that. There's not a human in sight, and it's all ours. Gouka and Akuen seem to love the place as much as I do, and they aren't at all bothered by it's evil aura. It's perfect in every way so far. I can't help but wonder, though. If the night seems to never end, I wonder if the winter season will? Wouldn't it be great if the snow lasted forever as well? I suppose we can let a few humans live here, so long as they don't try and take our cavern. I guess I could put several seals around the places I don't want anyone trespassing into, not a big deal. For now, I'll just sit back and bask in the moonlight.

Journal Entry 4, December 18th What luck I'm having! Two gyms have opened up here in the Tentou region, and I've become an apprentice to the gym leader in Ningyo City! Giovanni will be happy to hear this, I'm sure. I've recieved my first badge as well, along with some sort of CD. Miss Nami told me that it was useful in my Pokemon training, but considering that I currently have nothing to play it on, it'll just stay safe in my bag for now. The Sea Note Badge, however, I shall wear proudly on my person. Of course, these were gifts for becoming her apprentice. I plan on challenging the gym leader to a battle at some point, so I can properly earn what she has given me.

Journal Entry 5, December 21st Something is lurking within the forest, perhaps it's not as deserted as I had previously assumed. I'm sure that if my Pokemon cannot handle it, I'll be forced to. From the reactions of Gouka and a couple of the visiting Pokemon, it seems threatening. Why else would they act in such a defensive manner? Whatever it is may be hostile, I'd be unsure of what to do. The trainers may be a bit uneasy if they find that I'm not human, that is if the tail doesn't give that away already. I dunno...spells may be a bit too harsh. I mean, if it's a Pokemon how much damage could it do? I must find out what it is, my curiousity has already gotten the better of me...

Journal Entry 6, January 3rd I've made quite the discovery! There's a wild Umbreon within the forest! I'm not sure how this is going to be handled, it seems to be very hostile. I'm not sure if I would be able to capture it, but I'll try my very best. Gouka is the strongest of my Pokemon, and he's already been injured by the beast. Here's hoping its not as strong as it tries to make itself out to be, or we might just be in for it...

Journal Entry 7, January 6th As I had feared, this Umbreon is very hostile. I already know that it will not go down without a fight, and some fight it is going to be. Gouka will be in for a challenge, as I doubt that Akuen will stand a chance against the beast. I've lost track of it in the forest now, as well as the other trainers. I hope everyone is alright, it makes me a bit nervous. There's no telling what we're up against, I just hope that it doesn't catch anyone on their own.

Journal Entry 8, January 14th As though the Umbreon wasn't worry enough, a strange man has appeared in the forest. He's apparently a dark trainer, though I have yet to see any of his Pokemon. He possesses such strong dark magic powers, much like myself. Of course, I cannot show my true power, lest I want father to discover where I am. Perhaps I should have been a bit more cautious about how I flaunted my own spells. Too late now, I suppose. I just need to set this guy's head straight, or get him the hell out of my forest!

Journal Entry 9, April 27th Well, I'm sitting in the Haven now, watching my Pokemon running about and getting into all sorts of trouble. It's the Haven's year anniversary, and there's a party going on as I'm writing this. I'll be joining in shortly. I didn't realise that it had been so very long since I wrote in my journal. It's horrible, really. In these several months, I have aquired three new Pokemon. Yasha, whom I'd written about before. She's finally at my side, but I suppose she hasn't officially joined my team just yet. That is, she's making all of her own choices still. I...I'm not really sure if that's a bad thing or not. But, she's strong, and I'll leave her to decide when to listen to a trainer. Gangu, he's my new Growlithe. Nutty little git, he is. I swear, he's so mental. I probably shouldn't speak so rudely of him...but I really can't help but wonder on his intelligence sometimes... Shoubi, a unique little Rattata, is the newest of my bunch. He's a lovely red color, and he absolutely adores roses! He's usually carrying one around in his teeth, and he finds it very proper to perch on the head or shoulder of any trainer or Pokemon that he comes across. He seems very well behaved. Though, he does seem strong for such a little guy. Well, the party calls...I've WON something!? Wow! Who knew? Seems my luck is pretty good tonight! Hopefully I'll write in here sooner rather than later. For now, I'm out.

Journal Entry 10, May 26th Been awhile since I've written here, but I suppose it's been longer before. I've...learned things about Yasha. She's opened up to me a bit, and apparently there's a few damn good reasons that she's the way that she is. The bad attitude, the dark nature, and everything else that my Pokemon and I have been trying to fully adjust to. I'd like to write it here, but I'm unsure of how it would be looked upon. My...alternate profession may one day become quite the conflict. I haven't told her of the darker company that I answer to. That is, if you can call them a company. I only hope that I can properly defend myself when she discovers this, I'm afraid to know what her reaction may be. My other Pokemon have accepted it, but...Yasha. I'm not too certain. On a more happy note, my Pokemon and I will be returning to the Forest very soon. We've spent a lot of time away after the ordeal with WizzRobe, more or less to avoid further conflict and damage. Surely everything will be healed up well enough when we return, and I'm sure it will be even more attractive to the eyes of the other trainers now that the leaves and other plants have grown up. I can't wait to see it again, and hopefully this time we won't have to leave for such a long period of time. I will be writing again shortly, Yasha's past must be on paper. I am only the second trainer to ever gain this knowledge, her first trainer learned little of it, along with a young Houndour several years before.

Journal Entry 11, May 27th I have decided to put Yasha's past into my journal, I think it should be put into writing that all can understand. Humans wonder about the nature of Pokemon, and seem to work so hard in trying to form it to their own desires. I have an all new understanding for Yasha at this point, and apparently she has a bit more respect for me. Though, I still dread the day when she discovers the dark secret that I must keep from her. This cannot be kept from her eyes forever, and I am only left to hope that I will not lose her. As many trainers tend to forget, most Pokemon are still born in the wild. Now, there is no exception for those that are considered to be the rarest of types. It must have been no less than half a decade ago that the wild Umbreon had laid her egg, which in a matter of time hatched into the most unlikely thing that the Pokemon world had seen in quite some time. Twins, born from the same egg. Not unheard of, but even more unusual than that of a human giving birth to more than one child in a single pregnancy.
Despite the unusual birth, the twins seemed healthy and fully developed, if not a bit smaller than an Eevee permitted to grow without another body taking up half of the room. She loved them so, both of them. Her son...and her daughter. Overjoyed that she had birthed twins, she cared not for either any more than the other, even if it was extremely rare for a female Eevee to be born in the first place.
As the duo grew, their mother did everything within her power to protect them. She would die for them if she must, in order to ensure that her young could continue to live as they desired. They lived peacefully and without worry, the forest in which they dwelled untouched by the human hand. She?d found this place just in time, in fact. The Umbreon had searched months for the proper place to raise her children, without the worry of the human trainers discovering them easily.
Her mate had promised to catch up in the journey as well, to aid in her protection in such a vulnerable state, but he had never caught up with her. Though, she still waited hopefully, and had been sure to mark her trail without fail. On the nights of the full moon, she would sit on a hillside and call for him, howling out into the darkness. Slowly in the months that passed, she began to wonder what had become of him, what had caused him to fall behind.
If she were to know that she would never see the father of her children again, perhaps she would have migrated on when the humans began wandering along the borderlines of her territory. Perhaps, but still she waited, risking her family. It's getting a bit cloudy, threatening to rain. I'll be putting this away before I risk getting it soaked...

Journal Entry 13, May 29th Continuation of Yasha's Past (Part Three) One Rocket gave a short laugh, "Look at 'em. Scared out of their wits! This should be easy..." Reaching to his waist, he removed a PokeBall. "In the bag." He stated, giving the ball a toss. As it hit the ground, there was an eruption of red light. It quickly faded away, revealing a Scizor. Flexing its crab-like claws menacingly, it glared darkly at the Umbreon.
Trembling beneath her, the twins whimpered. Their mother growled loudly, ~When it attacks, you run away. As far and as fast as you can. Don't return until their scent is gone. You listen to me, and don't look back!~
She barely had a moment to take a breath after this command. "Scizor, use your Metal Claw!" In the blink of an eye, the two collided as the Umbreon bound foreword to meet it. A shrill yelp rang through the air, followed by the shouts of the Scizor's master.
Frightened, the Eevee had no choice but to do as their mother instructed. Taking off in the same direction, one Rocket chased after them. "You're not going anywhere!" He yelled after them, unlatching an Ultra Ball and chucking it at them. The brother gave a distressed cry as he was hit and drawn inside, struggling vainly against it with all that he had. As young as the Eevee was, he could not escape from a device of such strength. Defeated, the Ball was promptly retrieved and pocketed.
The young female continued to run, fearing what lingered behind her. She'd heard her brother cry out, and her mother's painful howls were still ringing vividly in her ears. Or, perhaps she could still hear the battle near their den. Regardless, she dashed on until she leapt into a thick mass of vegetation and bushes. Catching her breath, she scanned the area behind her for the human that had run after them, and for her brother. Neither were there...
She remained in her hiding spot, for what must have been hours. The area from which she had come had finally gone silent, and had stayed that way for quite some time. Convinced that it would be safe to return to her home, she backtracked to home from her erratic escape.
The humans were gone, long before she had returned. Her brother was nowhere to be found, captured and taken away by the humans. She'd apparently been dismissed, as they had no idea how far away she'd gotten, nor in which direction she'd gone after sight of her had been lost. Her mother was still there, lying awkwardly outside their den entrance, back to her.
The Eevee approached her mother, pausing a foot or so away. She'd circled the den, in order for her mother to see her approach. Her sensitive nostrils were met with a vaguely familiar scent. Unpleasant to say the least, a scent she could recall her mother to carry briefly after returning from a hunt. This was much stronger, almost more than her nose could bear.
To her confusion, her mother did not rise to greet her. Was she asleep? No, her eyes were open. She couldn't be asleep. Forcing herself to ignore the stench that seemed to insist on lingering, she stepped up to her slowly. Nuzzling her mother's snout lightly, trying to stir her. Nothing. Sitting back onto her haunches, becoming frightened all over again, she whimpered. Examining her slowly, her body was covered in no less than half a dozen deep wounds. Clean cut through her fur and skin. Some seemed to still hold fresh blood, though most had already dried. Eyes dull, clouded and lifeless. She made no movements as her daughter looked her over, gradually beginning to grasp her condition.
Whimpering softly, she shook her head to will away tears. She wouldn't believe it, their mother wouldn't give up, she couldn't be gone. ~Wake up, Momma.~ She pleaded, ~You have to help me...brother is gone.~ She continued, reaching out to paw lightly at her mother's stiff forepaw. Getting no answer, she became more frantic. ~Wake up, Momma! WAKE UP!~
Shouting at her proved useless, it took only a few minutes for her to realize. Her fear had been confirmed, she was completely alone. Her brother, her mother. Gone. Tail dragging the ground, she slowly crept back into their den. It wasn't until she'd curled up into a tight ball, lying where they had always slept together, that she let her emotions win.

Journal Entry 14, May 29th Continuation of Yasha's Past (Part Four) It wasn't the last night that the Eevee would cry herself to sleep, many more would follow. Especially as she adjusted to adult life, much sooner than would have been needed. Now that she was alone, she had to fend for herself, or she would not survive. Mother had spoken of hunting, and had been bringing meat back to the den. She was used to eating it, had nothing against the taste. However, seeing as she'd never been taken out on an actual hunt, she only had the vague instructions from her Mother to help her in capturing her meals.
At first, killing another Pokemon seemed like an act of taboo. Though, she learned quickly that holding such a moral would only cause her starvation. A carnivore could not live on plants and water, after all. After countless failed attempts, and some prey-inflicted injuries, she finally caught a small Rattata. With weeks of practice, she began to stalk almost flawlessly. Returning to her den with food began to outweigh the times she'd come home frustrated, with nothing but an empty belly.
Hunting was only the beginning, she had to become stronger. Much stronger. Not only to defend herself from any of the Pokemon in her territory, but in order to protect herself from humans as well. Always convinced that they may one day come back, to take her away like they had her brother, or worse...to do as they'd done her mother.
Sleeping and hunting during the day, she trained herself only at night. Be it with the obstacles that nature provided, or any unsuspecting nocturnal Pokemon that happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. In most cases, the victim would be smaller than her, and likely to be on the menu for the next day or two.
She trained relentlessly, determined to become strong. Stronger than her mother, not wanting to allow anyone to deal her the same fate. Perhaps it was her determination, her will to become strong, that helped her to evolve. Her confidence increased even more, the night that she transformed into a Umbreon. Sleek, black fur. Golden patterns that seemed to have a mind all their own, emanating a bright glow. Proudly, she promptly set off in search of her twin, leaving the safety of her territory behind her.
With her evolution, she felt even more powerful. More than double her original size, the abilities that she had cherished had improved. Speed, flexibility, muscle, all of it. She'd use her gifts well, and fearlessly. For her revenge, for what the humans and their Pokemon had done to her family.
Easier said than done. The world around her, she discovered, was crawling with humans. Their cities, villages, tribes. They were everywhere, and it disgusted her. Even worse, they possessed Pokemon that answered to their every whim! How degrading. She couldn't imagine answering to the commands of any human, and was left to hope that her brother had not become one of these...traitors.
She also learned of how humans captured Pokemon, many times more than what she would like to recall. It was only a matter of time, before she learned to be a bit more cautious about approaching humans so readily. Even a threatening Pokemon was a welcome addition to their collections. Needless to say, she eluded capture from the humans who were always ready to battle her.
Trainers, as the traitor Pokemon called them, were there to help and teach Pokemon. She'd hear nothing of it, and even those that tried being kind to her were either frightened or wounded by her in the end. Soon, she had acquired herself a nickname. Yasha, which she learned meant 'female demon' in it's translation. This pleased her, and she decided to refer to herself as such. It suited her well, she knew it, and those who did not quickly learned why.
Though, through the humans she learned of her enemy. Team Rocket. Apparently a group of thieves, and horribly abusive humans. She'd found her more direct target, and journeyed on in search of this...Giovanni that she'd heard tale of.

Journal Entry 15, May 29th Continuation of Yasha's Past (First Theme) You can't take me.
Gotta fight another fight, I'm gonna run another night. I'll get it up, check it out. I'm on my way, and it don't feel right. I've gotta get me back. I can't be beat, and that's a fact. It's OK, I'll find a way. It ain't gonna take me down, no way.
Don't judge a thing till you know what's inside it. Don't push me, I'll fight it. Never gonna give it, Never gonna give it up, no. If you can't catch a wave, Then you're never gonna ride it. You can't come, uninvited. Never gonna give it, Never gonna give it up, no. You can't take me, I'm free.
Why did it all go wrong? I wanna know what's going on. What's this holding me? I'm not where I'm supposed to be. I've gotta fight another fight. I've gotta fight, with all my might. I'm gettin out, so check it out. You're in my way, yeah you'd better watch out.
You can't take me, I'm free!
Oh yeah, I'm free...~Bryan Adams, "Can't Take Me"
