She watched as the look on the other mare's face went from just as smug as her own look had been to the delightful mask of sheer horror. She should have laughed... She would have laughed had it not been for the look that replaced the horror.
Slowly she approached the other mare once more. "I'm sure it won't be that bad... Eat a little bit less once the little monsters are out of your stomach... Run a bit more and maybe you'll get that figure of yours back. If you'd like I'd even offer to help... Afterall, I have to have someone to compair myself to, don't i?"

She just stood there, silent and shocked. Kat's words passed through her... they registered, but didn't make any sense. She was still trying to comprehend what was going on in her own body, before she'd return her train of thought into the real world. How was it that she didn't see this? That she herself couldn't tell she was pregnant?
And not only was she pregnant... but she was pregnant with Plague's spawn. The thought of him alone sent a shiver down her spine and she shook her head violently, attempting to rid her mind of thoughts of him. He did this to her... he made her become this way. It was all his fault. The ultimate revenge.
After a few minutes of silence, deep thinking, and ever growing hatred, the kalona turned to her companion, her eyes darkened with her mood.
"You find this amusing, don't you?" she hissed, baring her fangs at the mare.

She snorted softly, tossing her head high as the other mare ignored her, eyes narrowing slightly. See if she tried to be nice to that mare again. No point in doing so if this was the way she was going to be treated in return. To think that she'd even contemplated feeling any sort of pity for her condition...
"Yes. Yes, I do, as a matter of fact. Granted, I don't know your situation so perhaps I'm prematurely amused but you, Dia aren't doing a thing to make me feel any differently about it."

She hadn't expected her to so bluntly agree with her question. Dia had expected her to fumble with a response, and come up with a quick 'no ma'm', like many of the others she'd confronted in the past had reacted when questioned.
This mare was different, and it was annoying. Where was the respect, the fear, the awe? The only thing she seemed to receive from this hussy was catty comments and a matching attitude.
"I wasn't trying to convince you to act any differently, Kat," she responded, stepping closer towards the mare with a long stride from her striped hooves. "But I would suggest you drop the attitude; it could cause you to lose a leg or two, seeing how my mood has dropped from bad to worse in a matter of seconds."

"Dia, darling, your mood wasn't exactly sunshine and daises when I met you." She snorted softly, giving her head a haughty toss. "I think you're more bark than bite." Calling a kalona's bluff; not exactly an intelligent thing to do... But she never admitted to being the most intelligent of mares in the first place. She still believed that if Dia had been trying to eat her she would have done so by now.

"If that's what you think, I'd be more than happy to prove you wrong, dear Kat."
Dia was now within inches of Kat's face, close enough to even feel the warmth of the mare's breath as she exhaled. Perhaps Kat would catch a whiff of the foal Dia had attempted to devour earlier, before Plague snatched away her meal. That would help remind her of what a danger Dia could truly be.
"Not all kalonas are mindless monsters with the sole purpose of killing. I, myself, prefer to converse with my prey before I end their pathetic lives. Did you ever stop to think, Kat, that perhaps you were next on the menu for me? For if you haven't, I'd consider thinking about it now, while you still can. And taunting me like that isn't really the best route to go either... after all, I have more than one to eat for now, don't I?"
