Kara Winters

Kara followed the path curiously instead of going to the vegtable garden like she would have. What she saw there made her cover her mouth and blush a bit like a schoolgirl, she really shouldn't be interrupting this moment. After all, it wasn't polite, it would be like her interrupting a moment her sons had with their mates. She backed up quietly only to have her back run into Donovan.

Donovan raised a brow as he stepped backwards a bit to keep himself from falling over. Instinctively he reached out to grab Kara by the waist before she could fall over, since she was still a tad unsteady with wings. Curious as to what made her back up he looked and swore his eyebrows would go into his hair.

That was unexpected, well not completely unexpected, he knew they were married, it was just that he had never seen them that close. Granted there was company, and Donovan himself was a private person. Still he pulled her close whispering to her.

"Would you rather wait... or do you want me to speak up, because if you become any redder it might stay that way..." he murmured close to her, preparing to be whacked in the arm.

The moor cat, still invisible, swept silently past the visitors, its tail slapping Donovan's leg (not very forcefully, but of course even no force with a moor cat can be painful to humankind), and it headed across the path and into a bush ... which looked very strange to anyone not familiar with moor cats, since it looked just like the bushes had parted and come together again on their own.

Donovan had not expected the back of his leg, and he glared at what he assumed to be the figure to have done it, because it was a hell lot stronger than what Kara would have done. In fact he bent back a bit, and hoped he wouldn't cause Kara to fall.

He really really hoped that wasn't Serenity, because that just annoyed him. Glaring at air for a moment he muttered to Kara.

"Well... looks like it.. followed us."

"Hmm..." Kara mused, her eyes following the bushes as she eased out of Donovan's hold and followed it, the thing, though she gently jumped or rather glided over the bushes (she still couldn't fully fledge fly, she would fall when trying). It was easier than going through them, it she didn't want to fight her wings with the branches.

She closed her eyes for a moment to try and sense the thing out so she could follow. Though she couldn't see, but it was so much easier when she couldn't see at all.

The moor cat wasn't impressed that it was being followed, and it growled deep in its throat - just a warning growl - and turned around and left the bushes, where its trail became once more as invisible as the creature itself. Irritated, it headed towards the docks, slowly becoming visible once more until it was solid again.

The noises caught the attention of the elves, and Ulani sat up to look and see what was going on, while Ulrich turned his head, keeping one hand on Ulani's shoulder. They blinked when the saw Donovan, almost unable to believe their eyes - they couldn't see Kara, over on the other side of the bushes.

Kara tilted her head a bit, that was certainly not Serenity and she let the cat go on though she couldn't see fully beyond the bushes, it was only when she was sure it was farther up ahead she tried to go the rest away through.

Just as she had thought though she got half way out and her wing got stuck. It didn't like her feathers very much it seemed, Kara turned back and pouted trying to pull her feathers the rest of the way out of the bush.

Donovan shrugged at the two elves when he saw them turn to look at him. Well, it looked like they interrupted anyways, pity Kara couldn't keep a good hold of her curiousity.

"Come someone make sure that bush Kara went through hasn't eaten her yet?" Donovan called out as he made his way over.

He could hear a lot of rustling and betted with himself that Kara had gotten her wing stuck... again.

The elves got to their feet and started heading over to Donovan, their faces lit up with bright smiles. Ulani slid one arm around Ulrich's bare waist as they walked and spoke with him excitedly, and as they passed by the moor cat - which had decided to lie down at one side of the dock - she ran one hand along its back.

"Welcome back!" she called out excitedly to their visitor (still unable to see Kara). "It's ... Donovan, right?"

Ulrich was just as pleased to see the human again, though his emotions were for the most part kept hidden. "How long've you been here?" he called as they came closer. "And what do you mean, where is Kara?"

Donovan was a bit amused, he smirked a bit as he nodded and pointed to the bushes he knew she went through, "She followed something that whamped me in the leg and knowing her... one of her wings is probably caught up in the branches," he snickered a bit.

He couldn't help it, Kara was almost like a child sometimes, far too curious for her own good he thought to himself.

"She goes off often, especially without warning."

"Donovan...." Kara whined from where she was as she pulled a bit more, it was the feeling as if someone was tugging hard at her arm, "It's not funny... it always happens... and you know I still can't fly."

She would have pouted, but she knew he couldn't see so there was very little point in pouting in the first place. The bushes rustled a bit more as she yanked herself freed, tumbling a bit as she glared at the bush that had some of her feathers thought thankfully none of her primaries.

"Stupid bush."

Ulrich chuckled with amusement. "Forgive me for laughing," he apologized, still chuckling, "I do hope you're all right ... but if as you say it always happens, perhaps it would be better to avoid bushes altogether?" he suggested.

Ulani reached up and flicked his ear. "Ulrich Aldrich," she told him in a warning tone (though she was smiling like a schoolgirl), "I suggest you be more kind to our guests." She looked back at Kara. "Are you al right?" she asked anxiously, moving to help her.

Ulrich raised one eyebrow and glanced over his shoulder at the moor cat who had now stretched itself out and was basking in the sunlight, then looked back at Donovan. "So you've met Leif, then," he nodded. "Good thing he likes you. He rarely likes anyone he hasn't met before ... and he's rather ferocious most of the time."

Donovan raised a brow, "Is that so? He let me knocked, though I think he whacked me as he was passing," he commented wrly.

So he got of light huh? Good he thing supposed seeing as that was larger than Wish, maybe because he didn't treat it like a kitty. Wish always said it annoyed her when people treated her like a normal cat.

"I'm fine," Kara replied with a bit of a sigh as she stood to brush herself off from the real dust now, "Just lost a few feathers, they were probably loose anyways, maybe now I won't have to find them myself. I don't know how my children do it, trying to find their loose feathers all the time."

She resisted the urge to stick her tongue out at Ulrich, it wasn't her fault she was so curious. Well... maybe it was.. slightly.

"Stupid cat has an attitude," Ulrich nodded seriously, "but he's saved us a few times." He showed Donovan a long scar on his side that ran from his shoulderblade along his ribs to his bellybutton. "We were attacked a few years back, took us by surprise ... Leif got them for us. Pretty amazing, too, since he was still a kit then."

But then he grinned, back to his good-natured self. "So how have you been? I bet lot's happened, it's been such a long time. You guys married yet?"

He paused. "Or ... perhaps the more pressing question would be, how much time has passed for you? As I recall, the passage of time is different for you - and you don't look a day older than the last time you were here."

Ulani smiled at Kara, relieved that she was all right. "Why don't we sit down somewhere, we can catch up on everything that's happened ..."
