Anyways, I like the idea of 'present' time. That way anyone, or everyone can jump in. Should we have a form everyone should fill out? Like one of these:

Character's name:
Race:
Age:
Etc..Etc...?

I know!! Peasent is some evil sorcer and he can send us to different zones like pokemon zone or digimon zone or whatever kind of zone. And he can put us in the future or send us back in time! Stuff like that! And we would need to figure out how to get together to defeat him when we are all in different zones?

Oo, maybe the evil people kidnap him in order to turn him to their side and make him an evil sorceror, like you said xD And, the good guys get him back, and have no idea he's evil until they get sent to some alternate dimension. And, different people can go to different dimensions according to their interests xD
