samuraichikX Ladieburd SilentNinjaFox Hmmm... Rurouni Kenshin is one of the few animes that I actually prefere the dub over the sub to... I like that you can stand up to me. While I think that there are animes out there that have better subs than dubs, I guess I just liked this one better in the sub. I just like my Kenshin to sound girlier, I guess... very true, hell look at naruto, the english dub makes me want to kill myself at the sound of naruto's voice >< but yeah i kinda prefer the english dub of ruroken over the japanese, something about the female actress who does his voice just doesnt work well with me i dunno but, everyone has their own opinions, and alot of companies totally loose the heart of the anime in the translation so i can understand why people prefer the japanese version a lot of times *edit* EXCEPT SAMURAI X richard hayworth=good, other guy=sounds...so bad!!! i was just like...oh...god no... that doesnt work at all Yeah... the Samurai X voice sucked. Even my brother, who hates the Kenshin subbed, watch Samurai X subtitled because the voice was that bad..

I am actually pleased and surprised to hear that so many people like the dub. Most of the people I know don't like the dub very much. razz

I like it. I actually prefer to watch it over the Japanese.
It's probably because it's the first kind I was introduced to but I never really liked some of the Japanese VA's anyway.
And the Naruto dub isn't so bad, if you think about it. Sure, they edit out alot, but some stuff was just put in by fansubbers anyway. Plus, I like how they change around the dialouge. Kinda funny sometimes.
*shot for discussing Naruto*

I actually do prefer the dub version of RuroKen. It's one of the animes I prefer dubbed since Kenshin's voice, for the Japanese, was too feminine. I'd like to imagine Kenshin's voice as manly and not so womanly rofl Although, I do prefer Japanese over the English dubs on most Animes. RuroKen is an exception, I suppose ^^

*shot for discussing Naruto* I like to see how the dialogue changes too and it is funny sometimes. There are a lot of lines that don't translate the same way into English. You, or myself anyway, notice this much more if you watch it in English with the subtitles. It's a good time. I do that with Cowboy Bebop a lot, just cause some of the lines are better in Japanese than they are in English.

I never really fully watched the Japanese version but the dub NEVER bothered me.....ever?
Maybe because I was a bit younger & already I was used to watching all my anime in English [i only watched it on TV] So I had no other choice.I thought the voices of the characters fitted pretty well but maybe if they could had put more...emotion to it & such,it could've had been better in my opinion but I still enjoyed the anime either way.
And for one thing, the Japanese voice for Kenshin really bothered me [yes,i know it's a woman] so I can perfer his dubbed voice anyday lol.

=] That is one of the pros to watching anime in English - there is a lot of inflection that is missing in the Japanese. Hellsing is one that my friends and I watch in English because you don't get the inflection in the Japanese. wink

I have all the DVDs so I could watch the original Japanese if I wanted to. I watched one episode before and that was enough. I prefer the dub myself. I think that Lex Lang's rendition of the closing theme was better than the original version too. xd Am I going to be shot at for saying this?
RK was my introduction to Richard Hayworth's voice and I fell in love. heart Imagine my excitement when I'm playing Shadow Hearts 2 only to hear it so I'm gasping, "That's Kenshin's voice!"

I like both the subbed and dubbed for that one. Definitely a Richard Hayworth fan, but I'm even more of a fan of the guy who does Shishio's voice in the dubbed version, sorry don't know his name. He sounds hott. I don't even mind Samurai X dubbed, sometimes.

I personally prefer the english dub verison as well, I just didn't like the Japanese VA for Kenshin (not that she was bad, I just didn't care for it). I think the english dub was actually well done, I thought all the voices match the characters, also to me Richard Hayworth will always be the real voice of Kenshin.

I believe that in the movies he plays Mobile Suit Gundam villain Char Aznable, played Vincent Valentine in FF7:AC and Dirge of Cerberus: FFVII, Spike Spiegel from Cowboy bebop and many more famous roles ... oh and the Dub ruroken rocks my socks. trust me. the greatest example is shown in one of the other threads here. it could have been WWWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 worse.

I watched Rurouni Kenshin in japanese when I was little (I live in Japan, so it was originally in my native language) and now that I have seen some of the dub on YouTube I must say that it is pretty good. I like them both equally. I think they did an excellent job with it.

I'm halfway through the manga of this series and I watched the dubbed version of the series. I tried to watch it in Japanese but it sickened me that Kenshin had a girl talking him. And if a girl wasn't talking him, poor guy, his balls didn't drop.

Oh! About Cho and Tae's accents! The creator said in the manga that they both do have an accent, southern, or what you would call that, only in japanese. So they gave them southern accents over here.
