Trelawney is definetely telling the truth. Snape who was in love with Lily, and had to know that she was part of the couple the Prophecy was referring to.
I love your topic!

I do think Snape might have been on Dumbledore's side by then. Because according to Snape he had already saught a job from D.D. on Voldie's orders. D.D found out Snape loved Lily and well that's how everything unfolded the way it did.

Remember DD debating whether or not to tell Harry something and decided not to? (HBP in the chapter where they were just about to go get the Horcrux)
It was the fact that Severus Snape was in love with Harry's Muggle mother Lily Potter

I strongly doubt that Voldie told anyone about his Horcruxes. That's not the Voldie way. I think that Snape making the Unbreakable Vow proves that he can love. Why else should he had made it? If it's true, he didn't need to prove himself to Bellatrix or anyone else if Voldie trusted him. Snape the evil DE wouldn't have cared what anyone thought of him. But his soft side (love-conquering) forced him to pity Narcissa and make the Vow. I believe he told DD about the Vow and that's why DD devised a plan of his death. Of course, it might have happened too soon.

It isn't like JKR to make mistakes like that.

I think that my suggestions are much more interesting. ^_^ But,yours is plausible...

I don't agree with that too much. She put a whole bunch of fanfic into the 6th book and that was a mistake. She shouldn't try to 'hook up' everybody

It's a coming-of-age story as much as anything. Harry and his freinds are teenagers; it wouldn't be right if she didn't show that they're hormonal maniacs.

I doubt she'd take the more popular fanfics and use them for her stories. I'm sure she has had her stories planned out from the beginning; including who was going to hook up. I agree with AJ Bookworm.

I think I have proof that somewhere, either Snape or Dumbledore or Trelawny lied to someone, and it makes no sense. Here is my theory:

Let us take a look back to the night that the (in)famous prophecy was made. Here is the story Harry (and we) know: Dumbledore was in the room with Trelawny, and Snape was lurking outside. Snape managed to hear half of the prophecy before he was caught and thrown out....Logically,this makes no sense.

Trelawny is the one who tells Harry that it was Severus Snape (who was apparently looking for enployment tips) who had burst into the room, fumbling about getting lost. This is a lie: Because Dumbledore said that Snape had come in halfway through the prophecy. Trelawny, then, would not have been able to notice Snape! She would have been in a trance!

So,what happened?

If Trelawny is telling the truth....

A. Snape heard none of it. Somehow,Voldemort got part of the Prophecy and Dumbledore lied to Harry.

B. Snape heard it all and only told Voldemort part of it. He was a Death Eater at this point, why would he do that?

Is Trelawny is lying (And she doesn't seem to be a terribly good secret-keeper)....

A. Someone put her up to lying. Dumbledore? Snape? Who....And why?

B. She is lying for her own reasons...Why would she need to decieve Harry?

Personally,I go with option B,that Snape only told Voldemort part of it. I think that,at this point,he was secretly Dumbledores spy...Which led me to believe, was he ever a Death Eater?

One might ask,why did Snape tell Voldemort ANY of it? Possibly to distract Voldemort. Dumbledore (And Snape) would have known that both possible targets where safely hidden under the Fidelius Charm...And they would have continued to have been if Pettigrew hadn't betrayed the Potters.

(Note that I know an editorial close to this has been posted elsewhere. I had actually thought of this before I read that, but I am not trying to take credit...)

Feel free to discuss!

Man, now I gotta go back and read all the books (darn! blaugh ) and look at this closer. Good question though.

No one is lying. I've always believed that Snape was never truly evil. He just had to pretend to be so he could stay in Voldy's good graces.

To be honest, I think Snape lied, but to Voldemort because of the Fidelus charm. If Peter hadn't betrayed the Potter's I bet he wouldn't have even bothered with Harry OR Nevell.

You all need to read all 7 books in order from first to last, then all questions about EVERYTHING are answered.

OH and on the subject of "hooking up" the characters... I truly believe that JK KNEW that Harry would end up with Ginny... as soon as I read the second and found that she had a crush on Harry. Particularly because Harry wasn't too interested in her at first, then when SHE lost interest in Harry he seemed surprised. Saving her life too... and then her being his BEST friends sister and all it just made sense. And COME ON Hermione and Ron have been arguing like a married couple since the VERY first book xp
