Ahote lifted his head as he heard the sneeze, and looked in the direction it seemed to come from. He saw a fallen tree with bushes and branches surrounding it. He smiled, and trotted over to the hiding place. He put his front feet on the fallen tree trunk and looked over it, and saw the bright orange stallion.
"Ah ha!! I found you! But that's a really good hiding spot! I wouldn't have found you if you hadn't sneezed!"
He giggled, placing all four feet back on the ground and waited for Kitsune to climb out of his tangled hiding spot.
"Isn't it itchy in there?"

Kitsune emerged from the underbrush, shaking his head at the various twiggs stuck on his body. "Hehe congrats! But yes, it is awful under there, everything was making me sneeze." He chuckled at Ahote. "Oh well, that was fun though buddy, you definitely got me there."
Since afternoon was emerging, the weather was becoming cooler, and Kitsune smiled that a breeze had picked up. He didn't realize how time was flying by as he played around with Ahote.
"So, what do you want to do now Ahote? I think I found my only hiding spot at the moment." He chuckled, knowing he couldn't fit anywhere else. He definitely got lucky with that one.

Ahote thought on that a bit, his head tilted slightly to the side. The wind felt nice, blowing through his shaggy mane. He looked out at the field, and came up with an idea.
"You wanna race?!"
It was obvious who would win in this game, but Ahote still thought he had a chance. He was always positive about things, and knew that if he did his best, he had a good chance of succeeding.

Kitsune's smile curved into a sly one. "Sure, if you would like. Though I have to warn you, I am pretty fast!" At least he was being cheerful about it, didn't seem like Ahote was in it for the competiveness. He just looked as though anything was fun, and Kitsune liked that about him.
He scoped the area, wondering where they should run to. Off in the distance there stood two trees that idly lay in the field. "How about we race to over there, Ahote?"
He pawed at the ground, as if stretching is long legs. He needed to let some energy out anyhow, he was relaxing too much today.

Ahote spotted the two trees and nodded.
"Sounds good. So on the count of three, ok?! One....Two..."
But he didn't get to three. At the end of "two" he bolted towards the trees. He glanced over his shoulder and grinned at Kitsune. They both knew he was too short to beat Kitsune, so he deserved a head start, right? He looked back in front of him as he galloped towards the trees.
"You can't catch meee!!!"

Well now...
Kitsune could only laugh, and he rose onto his hindlegs in rebuttle. Of course he would give the fellow a fair chance, but in a matter of seconds he was off galloping as well.
His speed was noticeable, and he didn't spend months of his life becoming the best for nothing! Though, he wasn't his usual competivie self, where every win meant the world to him. He just had fun, smiling and watching as he caught up to Ahote. They were about half way now, and he was loving the thrill!
"What do you think about this, Ahote?" And with that he ran directly beside him now, and he playfully had a smirk on his face. "Come on, you can do it!" He was more excited in nudging Ahote's strength on. He was so kind and gentle, it was nice to see another who was so carefree.

Ahote laughed as he ran on ahead of Kitsune, leaving him behind at the starting line. He pushed himself forward, headed straight for the designated finish line. But then Kitsune caught up to him. He looked to his side, and the stallion was right with him.
"You're legs are too long! But I can still beat you!"
With Kitsune's encouragement, he pushed himself harder, and began to inch ahead of him. He lowered his head a little, creating less wind resistance, and with each stride, he reached his legs out as far as they could go.
"I'm going to winnn!!!"

"That's it, Ahote!" He said, almost cheering him on. He stayed close behind him, so it looked like he he was struggling to catch up. It was nice to see Ahote work so hard, plus it was fun! Kitsune chuckled as they continued to stride forward.
Ahote then triumphantly darted past the trees, and it was a clear sign that he won. Kitsune saw how happy he look, and it was a nice feeling to observe.
"Congrats!" Kitsune said, as they stopped a bit past the trees. "See, you are fast." He winked at him, and looked around the area. "I am sure you are thirsty, there must be a stream we can head too." He pondered and looked about.

Ahote reared back onto his hind legs in a little "victory dance".
"Ha! I told you I'd win! Even with my little legs!"
He was actually quite clueless that Kitsune had let him win, and he felt great about his victory. But now that Kitsune mentioned it, he did feel pretty thirsty.
"Yeah, I think I passed one earlier. It was.....that way!"
He faced to the northeast, the direction he remembered the stream to be in.
"Do you know how to swim?"

Kitsune looked at the lad and only laughed himself. Though at the mention of swimming, Kitsune's face became calm again. "I love swimming, I swim quite a lo.! How about you?" He looked to the northest and decided it was a good idea to head that way anyways.
"Let's go check it out then." The air was hot, and any water would feel great either on their bodies or in their stomachs.
He watched as Ahote trotted beside him, and he still couldn't get over his size. "Is it different being smaller? I in no way mean this to be rude," He nodded frantically, "I am just so impressed ya know, it is something I have never seen before." Kitsune, who was someone who constantly relied on his body strength, was stunned at the little one's strength.

"Actually, I don't know how to swim. But if the water is shallow enough, I could stand in it."
He thought about Kitsune's question about his size. Nobody had asked him that before, and he had never really thought about it.
"Well, its not different to me. I've always been this size, so its the same for me. I guess its different to others, like you. But I like being smaller. i can fit places that you bigger guys can't fit!"
He giggled, remembering their game of hide and seek.

"Mm, I bet the water would feel good especially since it is so hot today." Kitsune nodded, though thinking that in a steady current Ahote might be able to handle his own in even deeper waters.
"I guess that is true." Kitsune nodded to him, "I would be like you asking me the same thing." He chuckled, feeling silly now for asking. "But either way, we both can definitely hide and run as well as the other, right?" He looked at Ahote with childish eyes. They both succeeded in a strength that the other seemed more better at. That was a fun thing to learn for him.
"Oh it looked like the stream is coming up, I can spot it through those trees." The air felt cooler as they approached the body of water, and Kitsune's mouth watered at the thought of something cold.

Ahote chuckled along with Kitsune. He walked in the other's shadow, getting a little relief from the hot sun.
"Oh, I can see it too. And I can smell it!"
He closed his eyes and took a nice sniff of the fresh air, and could smell the flowing water up ahead. He thought how nice it would be to immerse himself in the cool water, and was a little upset that he didn't know how to swim.
"Hey, Kitsune, do you think you could teach me how to swim?"

Ahote did look thirsty, but thankfully they had made it to the water's edge. Kitsune, not thinking of manners at all, dove his head in as qucikly as he could, to take out a huge gulp of water. At Ahote's next question, he looked up to answer.
"Of course I can teach you how to swim, well at least I will try!"
And with that, he flung his body into the water. "Cool yourself off first and take some water down." He nodded, before putting his head under the water. When he came back up, his mane that usually stuck up was now flatter then before. "I am looking for a shallower area first," He said, while scouting out the pond. "Aha, over his it is waaay shallower, its a good place to start." He waved Ahote over.

Ahote smiled at Kitsune as he dove into the pond. He had never really thrown himself in the water like that, for fear of drowning. He walked around the edge of the pond until he got to where Kitsune said it was shallow. He approached the edge of the water, and placed his front feet in, and looked to see how far it was until the ground got deeper. When he felt more comfortable, he brought his hind legs in and walked a little bit into the water, until it reached up to his knees.
"I don't know what to do after this. How do you stay afloat?"
He had watched others in the water, and still didn't understand how they all kept themselves above the water. He had tried before, but that hadn't gone very well, and a friend of his ended up having to pull him out of the water. He didn't want a repeat of that.
