Wait wait wait. Okay, when some one here drops a name for theit guild, its a perfectly reasonable reaction to be offended and talk to the captain in order to have the name removed form our guild. Yet, when they name drop, and we do the same thing, we're whiny?

You were right Mira, is does give you a satisfacotry tingly feeling.

Tch. Don't you know we're all just a bunch of whiners because *gasp* we dare to believe that human life is sacred and shouldn't be ended just for someone's selfish convenience?

BTW, I love the way that a whole guild has missed the point that this brouhaha started over the posting of PMs, not an open discussion. I was under this mistaken impression that PM stood for private message. Silly me. That said, there was nothing I said in the PMs that I'm ashamed of or would retract.

I was once PM'd by a choicer from that guild, and I asked her not to post the message, and she said "No, PM stands for Private Message so I wouldn't do that." whee heart

*sigh* I wish Someone had been as polite as the one you dealt with. Like, maybe ASKING ME first before she posted it? I would probably have said yes. As it is, I feel like my privacy has been invaded. That's what upset me.

I've been in one of their signatures before, way back before I started typing in royalblue font, in fact I think it was just that month.

But now, someone will say "See? She would have said yes anyway!" but if they do, it's not fair because the fetus would have said "no" to abortion...

I STILL want to see a pro-choicer walk up to a pregnant woman and say "Has your fetus kicked yet?"

OT: My pregnant coworker was talking about her baby already kicking her a**, and another equally geeky coworker and I got into a discussion about the idea of kicking someone's a** from the inside, essentially kicking the other side of her a**... blaugh

We're weird. sweatdrop

Actually we didn't just have to remove names but also entire posts that were associated with the offensive material. I'm discussing it with Veled right now. Anyway it may need to be taken up with a mod, but hopefully not.

Part of the issue here is that now that she's called Isis "whiny" after her name had been posted everywhere it can be considered harassment, because she's referring to her in a condecending manner when Isis requested material against the ToS to be removed.

LOL, that's funny! And there is no weirdness like office weirdness. I worked as a police dept. transcriptionist for years, and the sense of humor there was, well. pretty dark...

ah, those entirely anonymous people or objects or unnamed atomic matter which may or may not be shaped in a somewhat perhaps by some views defined human shape, what with their rules and regulations and political correctness...

I'm sorry, that was offensive. instead of "political correctness", excuse my slur, I meant "nonoffensive semi-definitive language of equal and unbiased speech or text" (for the visually impared).

SO what site did you look up the new alternative to "political correctness" Or did you use a dictionary?

Sorry, it was a lenghty reference to the fact that we can't speak or allude to them sweatdrop

I beat around the bush, using synonyms and unobjective, unoffensive language in the extremely roundabout way political correctness is known for.

For example, African American- If you did not move from Africa to America, you are not an African American. you're just black. Same way that I am not Caucasian. I have never even been to Caucasia, so how could I be from there?

African American really just labels based on color of skin. It is the same as black, or, dare I say, "the N word". People from Jamaca are still African American in America, despite their lack of African-ness. And a white person from South Africa is still Caucasian in America, despite the fact that they would be quite literally African American. Basically, political correctness is BS, it's saying the same thing as usual, only taking up more syllables to do so.

Actually, they're rather brown.

You are, however, Caucasoid. People with African features are Negroid, and people with Asian features are Mongoloid. Sadly, these words have fallen out of favor with everyone except anthropologists.

No, because that's an insult.

Not rly.

The entire point is being correct. As in, it would be incorrect to call my brother-in-law Indian, because he's not from India. It's correct to call him Cayuga, because he's a member of the Cayuga tribe. It's not about "offending sensibilities," it's about calling a spade a spade.

But it all means the same thing. I agree with the tribe thing, because that is an actual tribe which still exists, and he is in the same country in which the tribe originated. Just like I am a Vermont resident.

However, if you were not born in africa or caucasia, you cannot be African American or caucasian. The words exist to soun inoffenseive and equal, to give the illusion that it is determining your classification by where you were from. However, as shown in the above examples, it's really just another grouping system based on color. Again.
