Arvid giggled as the 'rain' fell down on him. He knew he was no match for a splashing contest, but he desided to have fun anyway. Making his hands into a cup and scooping up some water, threw it at Coral with a sprinkle.
"Rain for Coral too!" he laughed.

Waikiki Keanu watched as he was carried from his home to the beach nearby. When he spotted the other Pae, particularly his father and sister, he began to squirm in his mother's arms.
Reira managed to keep her hold of the toddler until they reached the others. She set him down next to his sister and had her arms around Tiki Jim in a heartbeat. "Sorry we took so long, Keanu wanted to sleep in and I didn't have the heart to wake him..." She looked to the two other Pae and smiled. "Well, who do we have here?"

Coral splashed back. This was a lot of fun. She smiled when she saw the adult lady and a baby that looked like the one there already. "I can see double!"
Tiki Jim smiled and hugged her back. "The Naiad is Coral and the demon is Arvid. This is my wife and son Waikiki Keanu." He told the two splalshing with another smile.
Waikiki KiKi giggled and splashed a little toward her brother. "Fun!" She told him with a smile and nod.

Arvid tilted his head back until he could catch a glimpse of the woman, head now almost upside down.
"Ah...low...hah ma'am! Nice to meet you!" He waved to the new child as well and laughed, returning his attention to Coral and scooping up more water to throw.

Waikiki Keanu joined his sister by the water. At first he was a bit startled by the water splashed at him, but he tried mimicking the motion and was quite pleased. He slammed his palms at the surface of the water, getting himself fairly wet in the process but loving it all the same.
Reira smiled to the two children. "They're twins, so they look a lot alike," she told Coral. She giggled at the other child's effort to see her. "Aloha to you too, Arvid! What are you all up to?" Already she was crouched down to the children's level to coverse. She absolutely loved kids.

Coral smiled. Now this was a crowd. "So, do you all want to hear a joke? I've got a good one." She said as she splashed Arvid a bit more. This joke was a doozy. At least to her.
Waikiki KiKi giggled and splashed Keanu a bit more. "Wan ear oke." She told Coral with a smile. Not that the little toddler really knew what a joke was or anything.
"Well, I was just showing KiKi the water. We could teach them to swim now if you wanted." Tiki Jim kissed Reira's cheek. He then heard Coral. "Sure."

Arvid smiled and nodded. "I like jokes!" he said then laughed. He liked these people. They were really nice. Perhaps he could get Mizu to move to the beach so he could see them more.

Waikiki Keanu stopped his splashing long enough to look up at Coral. "'oke!" he repeated. He seemed to understand that he had to remain quiet to hear the joke, and started playing with just his fingers in the water. He soon discovered that the substance would fly with a quick motion of his finger, and he began flicking water at his sister.
"Of course, if you think they're ready..." Reira replied. She turned her head to return the kiss before responding to Coral. Keeping up with two kids had taken away the long evenings of talking and simply sharing eachother's company, but Reira was mastering snagging the few moments she got with Tiki Jim.
"Oh? Well, let's hear your joke," Reira replied to the girl, turning her full attention to her.

"Okay! Tiki Jim saw Waikiki KiKi on the beach. She had with her a shell. Every now again she would place it on her hear and talk. Tiki Jim didn't know what that ment so he asked her. 'Why are you talking to the shell?' She replied, 'It's my Shell Phone.'" Coral then began to laugh and laugh.
Even thought Waikiki Keanu was flicking water at her, she heard her name and listened. At the end she clapped as she knew it must have been funny as she was in it.
Tiki Jim also laughed as it was really funny for a child. "Very good." He also liked that it was about him and KiKi. Jim figured it was because she didn't know many people to make the jokes about.

Arvid blinked his blue eyes confusedly. He wanted to laugh, because if anything it would be rude not to laugh at a joke, but he really didn't understand it.
"I...I'm sorry Coral...but what's a phone?" he asked. Perhaps if she explained it then he could find the joke funny, but it's hard to find something funny if you don't know what the thing being used in the joke is. He was on this journey to learn after all.

Waikiki Keanu, of course, did not understand either, but he recognized the names and giggled at their familiarity. He had stopped flicking the water, having not gotten enough of a response from his sister, and was instead playing with it absently with his hands and looking at the pae around him.
Reira, on the other hand, thought the joke was very cute, and clever for such a young girl. "How funny!" she complimented, giggling. She decided to let Coral explain what a phone was, and instead sat herself right down in the wet sand with her kids to see what they were up to. She reached back for Tiki Jim's hand, wanting him to join them.

"Oh, well... I saw a girl, she's the caretaker of the beach pae, with a cell phone. It's this little thing that the humans talk into and then there's someone on the other end. So, a shell phone is like a cell phone." Of course Coral was kicking herself as she knew better then anyone, if you have to explain the joke it's not funny.
Tiki Jim sat down and took Reira's hand. It was a nice day. "So, do you two want to learn to swim?" He asked the twins with a smile. "If you two would like to help that would be great." He told the Naiad and demon children.
Waikiki KiKi giggled and clapped. she was't sure what swimming was, but knew it had to be something nice and fun.

Arvid poked his index fingers together. He felt bad that he didn't know what a cell phone was. Mizu didn't have one. She had a few other electronic gizmos, but nothing like that.
"Oh...ok...I see..." he said, still feeling bad that he wasn't able to laugh at Coral's joke. He then looked at the ocean, and then at Tiki Jim.
"I've never swam in something so big before. It's much bigger than the small pond I have outside Mizu and my tree house..."

Waikiki Keanu was a bit too distracted to respond to his father. He was looking at all the different Pae. At this point, he had somewhat figured out mirrors and knew what he looked like himself, but he was confused by how different the two other children looked.
Reira smiled at the idea of taking her children out to swim. "That sounds fun, doesn't it?" she asked. To Arvid, she said: "Don't worry, it's not much different. This water gets deeper and there can be big waves, but if you stay close to shore and with the rest of us, you'll barely notice the difference."

Coral nodded. "It's lots of fun, but I was made for water. This fin wasn't ment for dancing." She giggled and swam around a bit in the shallow water.
Waikiki KiKi nodded. "Swim!" She wanted to try what Coral was doing. It looked nice even if the water was a bit cold.
Tiki Jim smiled. "Okay, then swimming it is." He picked up KiKi and wadded into the water. He sat down and kept her in his lap so she could feel the water, but now get too deep.
