Katana faded in. "Yes, father."
"Is your sister ready?"
"Yes, sir. Lix is gathering her energy as we speak. As soon as the brotherhood sends over their top firestarter, we'll be ready to begin."
"Good work."
"Sir, if you dont mind me asking...why arent we using Matt as our fire element?"
Shadow grinned. "Because once the barrior between the two worlds is broken, he will lead the minions into battle with the remaining witches."
Katana smirked as well. "We cannot fail." She bowed to Shadow and began to leave. "I'll ready the troops for the initial assault."

Shadow impatiently waited at the door to the mortal world. One of the spells cast by the previous witch to battle him had left him trapped in the underworld, but that was all about to change. Just a little more energy from the sea hag, and he would be powerful enough to escape.

The energy the sea hag was feeding him slowly took effect. He was ready.
With a great force of dark power, he flung open the doors and rose to the surface.

Brook dark orbed into Shadow's lair, looking for Matt. She always seemed to end up in this hell hole. She didn't give a damn about mortality any more. She was going to hell for all the evil that she'd done anyway, there was no starting over. She would always be evil.

Katana wondered into the room, for once not planning to run into Brook. "Oh, hey. I see you decided to take Matt's offer." Her once proud head was low, and her voice was humble. "After he betrayed my father I had no where else to go. I was forced to accept the same offer." She was kicking around dirt. "I thought I had him, ya know? I really thought he was obeying my will. Its funny, dont you think," she was moving from one subject to the next. "I end up working for the man who killed my father." It was as though she was talking to herself, not caring that Brook was the one listening.
Matt proudly walked into the room. "Brook! You have no idea how happy I am to see you."

"Really? What makes you so happy to see me?" She asked him, glancing over at Katana and then looked back at Matt. "I half-expected a trap coming here." She told him, seriously. "Why did you ask me to work as your assassin? My track record for loyalty isn't so good." She warned him.

"You do have a point there. I guess I asked you to join me because I could sense in you the same feelings I had toward the good side. You know you can never fit in, no matter how much you want to. I killed my own mother to become good, but I found out its not all its cracked up to be." He smiled. "I guess thats why I devised my plan to take out Shadow. As a child I was told of his deeds, and that he was on the rise so I knew he would be a threat."
He was circling Brook. "And as for your loyalty, well, lets just say you were on my side the entire time. You basically did the same thing I did, so theres no need for me to doubt the talents of the best darklighter in the underworld." He had a grin on his face. "So now that you know this isnt a trap, hows about you join us?" He held out his hand for her to shake.
Katana leaned up against the wall with her arms folded. She was pissed about having to work with Matt, and pissed that she knew Brook was a better assasin.

She paused and thought about it a moment. She didn't have any feeling, good or bad, towards anyone anymore. She'd killed her sister, plotted against her boss, stole her friend's army, and ultimately killed Austin. Again, she didn't have anywhere to turn. Matt was right, she would never truly fit in on the good side.
After giving herself time to think it over which was a total of nearly 10 minutes, she shook his hand.

Pleased with Brook's decision, he gladly shook her hand. "Alright, I guess it's time we got started." He walked over to a table and picked up to booklets, and handed one to each Brook and Katana. "What? I'm used to running businesses." He pulled out his own booklet. "Ok, Shadow left many enemies in the underworld, so if we want to gain power we need to use this to our advantage. I made friends with many demons while working with Shadow, and if we can blame Shadow for a lot of problems, we can rise out of this on top. Brook, I'm going to count on you to help raise support from those that hated Shadow. Everyone always looked up to you. Katana, you're in charge of those who are still loyal to Shadow and his plans." He continued to explain to them the process while he paced the room.
"What we want to do is unite the Underworld. I'm not going to go for the usual goals of becoming the source and conquring the underworld, I'm more interested in becoming the demon the underworld would want as the source. To make things simple, I want to democritize the underworld. United we can stand up to the witches of the mortal world. We will bring leaders from each faction together, and truly take control. We will have more power than the source ever did, because we wont have the constant threats of demons trying taking our position, and that is, like I said, true power." He could help but grin. He was proud of his plan, though he knew it would be hard to pull off.

"You do know that someone will always think that they deserve power more-so then you, since you're half witch. They'll question me and my loyalties, even without knowing my past, because I'm half witch. And they'll question why Katana doesn't want to kill you, since it's widely known in the underworld that you killed Shadow." Brook told Matt, seriously.
"A democracy in the underworld will never work, Matt. It'll cause chaos, simply because they're demons. They'll kill each other, cheat, and threaten to get themselves or who(m?)ever they're supporting into a seat of power." Brook said, pointing out the flaw of his plan.

((Yeah, I came up with the plan randomly when I started tryping that. It wasnt well thought out...))
"You're smarter than I give you credit. You know that?" He grinned. "I know it'll never work." ((I'm makin this up as I go. I have no idea what the actual plan is.)) "See, the point is to make them think that's what I'm doing. While I'm trying to inspire 'unity' in the underworld, the heads of factions will start meeting in the same places, which as you have said will cause problems. We'll eliminate the competition without having to lift a finger, and no one will ever be the wiser." ((I have no idea what I'm doin. Just to let you know...))

"You mean, they'll eliminate eachother without you lifting a finger while Katana and I have to dogde attacks from those who pick up on it. They're not all Brute demons." She told him, ignoring his comment about the fact that she was smarter then he thought.

"Hey, you two are some of the best assassins in the underworld. I'm sure you can take care of yourselves." He walked over to what would be considered the doorway to the cavern they were in. "Plus, you'll have some help." He smirked as one after another, minion after minion filed into the room. "What? You thought Shadow was the only one with minions? Sure, they're not as numerous as his, but they're just as powerful."
((By the way, who's filling in Jen's spot in the coven? Have you given it any thoughts?))

Brook scoffed and rolled her eyes. "You, just as the rest of the underworld's leaders have, are hiding behind minions. If it didn't work for shadow, how do you expect it to work for you?" She challenged him. His whole plan sounded a bit reckless, but if he had the fire spirit in him, she didn't doubt why.
((I've given it many thoughts, and have come to a conclusion but you're going to have to wait on that one.))
