The pegasus-man laughed, patting Marshall's shoulder with the arm that wasn't pinned in the hug. "Hey, glad you like it! I thought I remembered you complaining about the heat once..."
"Now," he said, looking up at the tables and decorations, "what all do you have to eat here? You promised it'd be good, right?"

"Oh!" Marshall exclaimed, letting Gaius out of his hug, "Yeah! Well, Its Cinco de Mayo, soo...Mexican themed, really. Got some taco stuff, nachos, some burritos...Ummm..." Then, some thing dawned on Marshall, "Um...Gaius? Can you eat this stuff? I mean, I can for the most part, but I'm not sure since I don't really know what you're...Ummm..."
Marshall sighed, before finally asking, "Gaius, what exactly are you being turned into? I mean, we've been here for almost a year and well...I still don't really know..."

Gaius's smile became a little more forced as Marshall pointed out the foods. Well, at least a good deal of it was still fine... He wasn't sure how the nachos would settle in his stomach, though... "Ah... yeah... It's fine, I can have some of the chips and beans and stuff. Just have to avoid the burritos, I think. Too bad, though, they look like really good ones..." He looked wistfully at the buffet line and sighed. Even breakfast burritos were a bit much for him. He tended to prefer hard-boiled eggs these days outside of his vegetarian diet.
The horse-man turned his attention back to Marshall, giving him a look of surprise and confusion. "Hm? I never told you? I could have sworn... no, huh, guess that was Nita..." Smiling apologetically, he shrugged, extending his scraggly-looking wings a bit. "Well, if the hands and tail combined with the wings haven't clued you in... they said they gave me a pegasus. How's that? I don't even get to be a real animal."

It was just about that time of day again, Victor was crawling back from the beach, and headed for the caferteria at a slow pace. He had been working on his pacing and walking to keep from falling over or tripping over his own limbs and ending up in a pile in the dirt. Eventually Victor reached the caferteria and went though the trouble of strugging to work the door open and push his way inside, suddenly surprised by the decorations..... and the presence of two other people, Marshall and Gaius.
The lizardman looked between the two, debating with himself if to stay or leave....but he was already there and there wasn't much he could do now. Victor crawled his way further into the cafe, the limbs on his back twitching and shifting as he scuttled slowly closer, stopping a fair distance away to give a wave to the two.
"Hello Ggaiussss, Marrsssshall" Victor's upper mouth shifted and mimiced his words, the tongue flicking and moving about "Whhatssss ggoingg on?"

Marshall looked positively star-struck, not even trying to hide his child-like amazement even a little bit, "R-Really?! A Pegasus?! That is sooo cool! This isn't fair why am I just a penguin!? Maaan that is so cool!!!" Marshall said enthusiastically with his arms flailing.
He spun around, greeted with Victor. He gulped, even though he was slowly starting to accept Victor's look, he still couldn't help feeling a little uneasy.
"Oh, hey Victor. Its um...Kinda my birthday."

Tommy made his way groggily toward the chow hall, squinting heavily in the bright sunlight. This was the first time he had been up and about before sundown in a long time...and now the sun played havoc on his nocturnally inclined eyes. But...he wouldn't miss this for the world. It was something normal...a birthday party...for a penguin...yeah, right, normal. He shook his head as he pushed his way inside...glancing about at the others in the building. There was the penguin...then Victor...and Gaius. Huh...haven't seen him in a long time. Goddamn...what was he? Winged horse thing...Christ. He just gave a razor-toothed grin to those, "Hiya..." he said softly...wondering if anyone but Victor would recognize him.

Newt's snout had healed well enough to not worry about bandages any longer and he could eat easier again. Still, the skin was buckled and puckered, the three slashes leaving deep scars. He'd kept to the woods since leaving Sophie and deciding against visiting Dee just then. He hadn't been ready. He was too nervious, too ashamed, and too terrified- he didn't trust himself to not act like a moron and mess everything up once again. He didn't want to hurt her. Hell, she was probably scared enough as is, she didn't need him making her feel worse by being a stupid stuttering coward.
He soon found himself in the village again, but instead of heading to Dee's duplex like he should have, he veered off for the cafeteria. He could find something to eat there while he was here. No problem. No harm no foul. Upon entering it, though, he froze in the doorway, feeling as though he had interrupted something uninvited, and gave a startled croak, hovering shyly.

Gaius blushed, more than a bit embarrassed by Marshall's outburst - And he wondered why Gaius always thought he was younger?
"Hey, hey, it's not all that call you know... I'd much rather just be myself. I mean, look at m-" The words died on his lips as he turned with Marshall. He looked wide-eyed at the scaled multi-limbed thing that'd scuttled in the door. This wasn't the first time he'd seen it, otherwise his reaction might have been worse than it was. Gaius stared blatantly, boggling at the sheer number of limbs - was there any animal really with that? But the face, he recognized that strange double-face. His lips curled in a frown. That was Victor, for sure. Trying to take his cue from Marshall, Gaius gave a small wave, though his manner was stiffer than he intended.
After that came a most strange being - some kind of bat, judging from the wings. Gaius gave a warmer wave to him, but there wasn't any sign of recognition in the horse-man's face. Last he'd seen Tommy, the guy'd just had long fingers and hadn't been covered with fur with beady black eyes.
He almost missed the other fellow that'd come in shortly after - another guy he'd not seen since his change. Gaius blinked. The green was more than recognizable, but the shape... It looked more like a giant frog than any human-like being. Gaius gulped. That had to be Newt, unless there was some other big green frog... but the croak was too recognizable. Well, that explained why the guy hadn't been around for construction. He frowned slightly, debating whether to press the guy about what he'd promised to get done, but decided against it, turning to get some nachos at least in a paper plate, avoiding the meat as he favored the beans and guacamole.

"Um...Hello?" Marshall said nervously to the furry, winged, groggy looking thing. It must've been some sort of bat, but Marshall couldn't remember any Bats off the top of his head. He was happy, however, to fee a familiar jumpy friend of his.
"...Newt!" Marshall said happily, rushing over to the amphibian. "Hey! I haven't seen ya since the project at Nita's! I wanted to give you some thing but you never answered your intercom and didn't answer the door at your duplex...No matter! Welcome to my birthday!" he said, obviously more excited to see the familiar frog than the unfamiliar bat or lizard.

"Ohh it issss? hhappy birrthhday thhen Marrsssshall" Victor said as he then looked to Gaius and frowned slightly with his orginal mouth at Gaius' reaction to seeing him. The horseman stared at Victor and gave him a short, tense wave> On one level Victor understood why Gaius acted like that, but still didn't mean he liked it.
"I sssssssee You cchhangged too Ggaiussss" Victor commented before turning to see who else had entered... Tommy and Newt. Newt looked like he was a deer in the headlights, frozen in the doorway, Victor doubted he could do anything to make Newt feel less nervious so he just ignored the frog's presence. "Hhey Tommy....prretty earrly forr you"

"Ah... ah....!" Newt gave another timid croak, lifting a webbed hand to cover his scarred snout as he was bombarded by excited penguin. "I... I... I d-don't... I don't l-live in... in my duplex anymore..." He managed, "I'm n-not I didn't... I'm n-not interrupting am I? KrrrIIIT I c-can... I can go-" His head bobbed, throat jumping with his froggish noise. His eyes twitched over to the other attendants, recognizing the unmistakable Victor immediately with a little jump and the batty form of Tommy before... Gaius! Oh hell, oh hell oh hell, he didn't have anything for him! What work he had been trying to give him had been confiscated long ago... but how was he supposed to explain that? Oh, he probably thought he was a looser, a failure, full of promises he couldn't keep. "I... I... ah... " He stammered uselessly, eyes wobbling over the pegasus man.

Tommy crutched his way in further, glancing over at the solid food with a sigh. He nodded to Victor as he was adressed, "Yeah...I hear ya...wouldn't miss this for the world. Heard about a birthday party...thought even I could get up in the middle of the day to wish Marshall a happy birthday." He grinned somewhat before glancing over the penguin. "So...yeah, happy birthday. Oh...I'm Tommy, by the way...we met down by the river a while ago," he said with renewed vigor. It was killing him to be out this early...but it was for a good cause.

Marshall blinked, completely confused as to what Newt was stammering about, "Dude...Its my birthday. I wanted to give you an invite, but now that I know you don't live in your duplex...Its alright! So, care to stick around for a bit?" Marshall asked his jump friend, not even noticing his panic look over at Gaius.
"...Tommy?!" Marshall spun around, before Newt could answer of course, looking at the bat thing, "...Oh! Now I remember you! You told me about the whole...Not-coma thing! Sorry about recognizing you earlier...Well, um, this is my friend Newt, thats Gaius, and you already know Victor..." Marshall rambled, trying to be a good host.

Gaius's ears twitched up as Victor addressed the bat. Had he heard right? It sounded like a name he knew... Someone from months ago? But no, a more intent look at the bat still didn't ring any bells for the horse-man. Still, he came over to the gathering, far from wanting to be anti-social. He'd not brought Vixen today, a rare occurance considering she was a loyal part of his 'herd' family.
Newt's behavior got an odd look from him. He didn't know why the guy was so jumpy, but marked it off to his usual meekness. The nasty scars were a good indication of what might've upset him, though. Gaius frowned again as he looked at them, wondering if they were made by the same claws that'd left trails down his own back. That blasted dragon... He held up a hoof-hand as the frog seemed about ready to hyperventilate, trying to speak calmingly. "Woah! It's okay Newt, it's just me! Gaius, remember? I'm not gonna eat you or anything, even if I could!" Holy crud, those eyes were huge... "Looks like you went through another change, eh?" he offered, trying to get the guy to calm down with conversation.
His attention was pulled away sharply by the exclamations nearby. Gaius straightened alertly, neck and ears straight as his wings gave a quick flare. "What?" His eyes darted at the bat. "Tommy?!" he echoed Marshall. "That's... that's you?"

As he was pulled closer to the party by Marshall, Newt gave another worried croak, "G-g-gaius! Ah... ah... y-yes, I... um... krrIIT yes, um.. I'm... w-well, I'm... I... I'm sorryIdon'thaveyourpullieskrrIIIT!! He finally blurted out, ending in a froggish whistle as those enormous bulbous eyes wobbled and sank into his head with a mighty blink, "I'ms-so-so-so-sorry please d-don't be mad!"
