Wand Get!

To be filled in.
PostPosted: Thu Jan 17, 2008 2:07 pm

The teetering blonde pushed open the creaking door to her small, if tidy house with one shoulder, her arms trembling with the effort of holding several thick novels. It was true that she'd left with a similar stack just that morning, but once she'd actually gotten to the library, why, she hadn't been able to help plucking whatever looked interesting off the shelves. She deserved a little reward after her horrible mistake that morning, didn't she? The mere thought of walking into that strange shop by accident was enough to make her pale cheeks flush with blotchy streaks of red, and she gave her head a good shake less she dwell too long on self-mortification. Of course, now that she was thinking about it, Nataki had a hard time chasing the stubborn thoughts away. With a small, if feminine grunt of effort, she made her way into the living room and set her heavy load down on the coffee table with only a few twinges of protest from her aching back. A soft sigh slipped past her chapped lips, and the librarian wordlessly adjusted her glasses before absently slipping frizzy locks of blonde behind her ears.

She'd had no earthly idea that the wand shop she'd accidentally stumbled into had been...well, connected with that incident she'd experienced only a few months ago. Strange, beastly children, murders of people she didn't know, and supernatural magics had all occurred in that strange building with the locked doors. And it all started with a single, seemingly harmless wand? Her lips thinned as she considered the knowledge she'd been imbued with only hours ago, hesitantly glancing to her purse that lay atop the mountain of books. A mountain ogre. That was what the man had told her; this wand was going to turn into a monster that wasn't even supposed to exist.

Her preference of fantasy literature had told her well enough about what to expect from such a beast. Savage, big, and stupid. And often hungry for the flesh of men. Small hands trembled faintly as she made to open her purse, feeling gingerly around inside until something hard and rough came in contact with her soft skin. With a wince, Nataki slowly made to pull out the crudely crafted length of rock, fingers brushing against the red sliver of sanguine burrowed deep in the ferocious maw of what looked like some sort of face in the center of the wand. An ogre.

Nataki pursed her lips faintly as she brought the stone closer to her face, her hands rotating it slowly as though to help her find mark she'd missed before. An inscription, a clue, maybe even a tag that broadly exclaimed how much of an idiot she was for thinking this was for real. All that met her eye were graying, thickened veins of the dark stone, cold and unyielding. The woman softly tutted at herself for her foolishness, only grateful to be inside the safety of her home where no one could see what she was doing. Really now, that whirling book that had held her name in it had been something else, but this was too much to take in! Her thoughts flickered again to that strange building, but Nataki was surprisingly firm.

"It isn't real. You've worked very hard today, made a fool out of yourself, and now you're delusional." Her thin, reedy voice was harsher than she intended, and the blonde winced a little. It had been a long day...Perhaps if she just curled up in her favorite chair with a cup of hot chocolate and a nice book--

--The chilled stone against her hands suddenly seemed to roar with blistering heat, pulsing feverishly like the pounding heart against some savage beast. She screamed and dropped the thing without thinking, one hand clasped to her breast while the over fastened itself quickly across her mouth.

"Oh!" She could only stammer, her glasses knocked askew as she stared with horror at the docile, unmoving wand on the table. Her teeth sunk themselves lightly into her lower lip, and Nataki felt unexplainably close to tears. What had that been? Had she imagined it? Her palms were still tingling. With a trembling hand, she reached out to carefully gather the craggy bit of stone, keeping it away from her body as though afraid it might bite. It pulsed again beneath her fingertips and she nearly threw it, but managed to clamp down on her fear.

It was just a dratted bit of stone, she told herself with slightly trembling lips. A dratted bit of stone that was going to be big enough to eat her one day. Flustered, but too afraid to leave the wand all by itself, she hastily snatched up a few books and bustled her way into the living room. The man had just said to keep it nearby, hadn't he?

...Maybe if she tried to read to it, it'd help soothe its apparently savage disposition...

Diary Entry

I-It... It changed, just like that strange, chattering man told me it would. It wasn't a dream, fantasy, delusion--it was real. I don't know what to do, what to think! My hands are shaking so hard that I can barely write this, even now... I'd been keeping the wand with me, as instructed, though I hardly thought my presence alone would imbue it with the ability to alter its form! Occasionally, it would grow so hot in my hands that I was afraid I'd be burned, but just a few hours ago, something different happened. It again grew hot and even quaked a little, while a great gush of steam shot from the stony tip. I was so surprised that I spilled hot chocolate all over my book and myself--ohh, I'll be fired for sure if I can't find a way to fix it!

The steam that continued to linger around the room... it wasn't normal. Even as I watched it with horror, it began to solidify and take shape, manifesting into a creature whose minute size, frankly, shocked me. Mountain ogres were enormous, vicious creatures--had that man made a mistake when he'd given that wand to me? It continued to thicken, the smoke subtly altering into an elephant grey... and there was suddenly a baby on my floor. It's asleep right now; finally, after ripping through everything it--he--could get his little hands on.

What am I to do? When he cries, it's absolutely the most wretched sound I've ever heard, like boulders grating against one another. I suppose he's much like a boulder himself--all short and stumpy. His limbs aren't exactly able to support his torso yet... He's a homely little creature, but there's something almost puppy-like about him. Imagine! Me, finding a monster depicted as a savage glutton as almost cute. I must be delirious. I haven't slept at all. How can I? I'm terrified he'll wake up again and start to chew on things with his teeth...

I'm in a dilemma. I've swaddled him up in blankets the best I could without getting bitten (most the blankets have suffered a similar fate) but he still doesn't have any clothing to wear. It's vital that I run fetch him something, but that means that I need to bring him along... What will people say? He looks like a tiny monster, infant or not... And he's so strong! If he managed to get a hold of someone's fingers with his hands... Well, let's just say I tried giving him a doll to play with--something I found while cleaning out the attic. It's still in one piece, for now, but the dreadful sound of seams stretching sends shivers down my spine.

I don't know what to do. I'm afraid to leave this little creature alone in my house, but I'm more afraid to keep it with me! And yet, he's still just a baby... You can't abandon a baby, no matter how ugly, isn't that right? Dear me...

...Ah. I've decided to call him 'Razelt' for now. Some name from a rather brutish character in one of the books I've read recently. He seems indifferent to it.

Razelt, it seemed, did not like diapers. He also didn't like books or 'quiet time' or naps--but his lack of mobility made it very difficult for him to carry himself away from his source of agitation. But it wouldn't have made much of a difference anyway when it came to diapers; they clung to his thick waist and refused to let go, choking, smothering... He'd been left alone for only two seconds, grumpily propped up against the couch before he decided he'd had enough.

Nataki, meanwhile, had stepped into the kitchen for only a moment to fetch the bottle of formula she'd been warming up. The ogre, though just an infant, already weighed about twenty pounds, and she'd need both hands completely unoccupied to handle the thrashing babe. How much trouble could he get into if he was left by himself for a few seconds? Her hands had just closed around the plastic bottle when a rough, guttural sort of screech resounded from the living room, followed by the sound of something tearing. Oh, for goodness sake! He'd been screaming all morning, and just when she thought he'd finally settled down... Looking flustered, the blonde quickly hurried back into the other room and jerked to a halt in the doorway. "W-Wha...Razelt!"

The baby had somehow managed to rip his diaper off his body and was currently savaging it with thick fingers and fangs alike, vicious growls shaking themselves from his tiny mouth. The sound of his name made him pause for a moment, piggish eyes blinking with stupid incomprehension at the sputtering woman. Slitted pupils, practically lost within their sea of gold, went wide before the diaper was rudely spat from his mouth. Squat grey limbs were flailed demandingly in the woman's direction, or rather the bottle held tightly in her tiny hands. "Dah!" Razelt grunted. He'd been making all sorts of curious vocalizations, anything from groans to tiny, grumbling roars. 'Dah' seemed to be the ogre equivalent to 'mine', 'gimmie', and 'I want it now'.

Nataki fretted with indecision even as she stepped closer; did she try to make sure he understood he'd been a bad boy? The sight of his furiously gnashing fangs made her think twice. "I'm coming, I'm coming!" She called hurriedly to him, thrusting small hands underneath his flailing arms to pull him up with a squeak of effort. Sitting down on the couch in turn, the naked Razelt now in her lap, she held the bottle closer to his mouth. He thrashed and batted at it with his thick hangs eagerly, but couldn't quite hold it himself and simply chose to gnaw on it with gusto. With a sigh, the woman settled back against the worn fabric of the furniture and let herself zone. Ugly circles marred her pale cheeks as testimony to her lack of sleep; Razelt had roared and screamed all through the night just for her attention, it seemed. Her lips pursed with disapproval as she eyed the shredded diaper bits all over her floor, resisting the urge to tut. That simply wouldn't do. He couldn't just wander around without being potty-trained, and right now, he was too young to learn. Speaking of that, she needed to run out and get him some clothes, as well as toys that could keep his interest. So lost in her thoughts, the librarian failed to notice when Razelt had finished all the formula--and began to eat the bottle, too.

His blunt fangs ground furiously against the plastic, and only the mild vibrations against her arm finally made her glance down. "Oh! Razzie, Razzie no!" She tried to yank the bottle away, but he'd clamped down on it with his teeth and stared at her, wide-eyed and belligerent. Oh no, no, this wasn't good! How much of the plastic had he eaten?! Was it fatal? Terrified, she tried to ease the bottle from his jaws with a trembling finger and shrieked when he nearly bit her, growling furiously through the chewed plastic. Nataki seized hold of the end of the bottle and pulled, not quite wrenching it free from his jaws. With an outraged squawk, his sausage-like fingers tried to latch onto her forearm and left bruises where he managed to squeeze, earning another cry of pain from his foster mother.

Shocked by how much hurt he'd caused, the blonde struggled to try and free herself from his grip without hurting him. Her weight had her accidentally leaning back onto the remote to the television, which flickered on with a bright crackle of static. Nataki jumped and Razelt simply stared, immediately going slack-jawed with surprise. It was some awful cartoon--Tom and Jerry, if she remembered correctly. The tawny mouse had just walloped the cat over the head with a mallet. Wide-eyed, Nataki had just been about to flip it off again when Razelt, clumsily dropping the bottle from his mouth, made a gurgling grunt of pleasure. He was fascinated by the sounds and the movement, while she in turn was fascinated by what an effect it was having on the child. Oh, sure, the T.V. was old and got horrible reception, but if he liked it...

She was afraid to move, less she disturbed him, so together they sat for at least an hour, watching cartoons. Of course, the real trouble happened when they ended so another show could come on. Razelt wasn't ready for them to end, and threw another tantrum by throwing the half-eaten bottle so hard that it shattered against the wall.

Nataki made another note to buy some videos whenever she managed to get around to shopping.

Ogre Teeth and Lobster Claws (Meeting with Trent)

Tsunake
Shopping was a task she normally did as quickly as possible, viewing it more as a chore than anything fun, but it seemed her current ward of sorts had other ideas. It was Razelt's first time out of the house, and, as usually, he was proving to be... difficult. Why, they hadn't even gotten to the store yet, thanks to him! The frizzy-haired blonde was already sporting various bandages on her fingers where the bad-tempered baby had bitten her some, and even in her arms, he refused to settle down. Half-naked save for the thick diaper slung tightly around his hips, Razelt was screaming his lungs out. Thick, but stumpy limbs thrashed wildly to show his displeasure at being yet again trapped within the diaper--and this time, he couldn't reach it to tear it off! Though his grating howls were loud enough to make people stop and stare, not a single tear had rolled down his grey, ugly little face.

"Razzie..." Nataki tried to croon, though her voice was trembling as she bounced the hefty baby a little to try and make him hush. "W-We're about to go get you all sorts of nice things! But if you aren't good, w-well..." Razelt failed to notice the threat and howled louder, kicking his legs unhappily. The tiny woman was at a complete loss of what to do, flushing crimson at the curious and horrified stares she received from those walking along the streets. Bad enough that the infant hardly even looked human, but to be causing such an enormous scene...

Utterly exhausted, the blonde finally gave up the fight and sat down on the nearest bench she could find. Razelt was undeterred by the sudden stop and continued to squall. "No." Nataki told him with a slightly soured expression, wincing as he tried to snatch some of her hair so he could yank it. "I'm not taking it off, and you know you have to wear it... So be a good boy? P-Please?" This was ridiculous. She looked exhausted, and felt even worse--if only she could get this shopping done with, maybe she could go home and take a nap...

eternaldelusion
It wasn't hard for Billy to get distracted by the screaming, and he frowned, looking away from where he was trying to get Trent to release the doll he'd grabbed at some point, without the man's noticing. He caught sight of the woman, and her baby, and his eyes widened. He gave the now ruined doll one last, futile tug, but trying to remove the toy from Trent's pincers was a lost cause, so he gave in, shifting the now cooing boy in his arms, and moving over to the woman quickly.

He didn't stop to think of how impolite it was to come up to someone without introducing himself, but this was important! This was good luck, on his part.

"Hey there!" he said, a few feet from where she was sitting now, "God, you've got one too? Please tell me yours used to be a wand," he needed proof that he wasn't a nutter. Trent didn't seem pleased with Billy's attention being on someone else, so he started pulling on his shirt with two of his hands, making small noises, the pincer holding the doll waving a bit.
"Trent, stop it."
It worked, for a moment, but then the kraken boy just resumed the action when he realized Billy really did intend to converse with this other person.

Tsunake
A sudden voice nearly made her jump out of her skin and she gasped with surprise, the muddy brown of her eyes wide. "O-Oh!" Razzie, too, had shut up for the moment, his bottom jaw thrust out in a comical display of bewilderment. What was that? Round eyes were fixed firmly on the strange boy, and, more importantly, the doll clapsed by the big reddish stick. "...Dah." He grunted, flailing his arms greedily towards the doll. "Daahhhh!" Came the grumbling groan when the doll didn't instantly fall in his grasp, and the baby began to huff with bad-tempered indignation. Whatever it was, he wanted it, and he wanted it now!

Nataki, meanwhile, was transfixed by the multiple limbs of the mutant child held within the man's arms, not so much horrified as she was confused. Then, the newcomer said something about a wand, and her entire face lit up. "O-Oh, yes, yes! Some man with a book in some strange store gave it to me, and.. well, it's not a wand anymore." Her meek, stuttering tone was hushed with embarrassment at being caught in such a predicament, but the actions of Trent soon distracted her. A faint smile quirked at her lips at the sight of the boy trying to get attention before she became aware of the flailing child in her arms...

"I'm N-Nataki. Nataki Novalik." She introduced herself after a moment, realizing that'd be best. "And this is... ah, Razelt." Upon hearing his name, the infant screwed up his face and bared his teeth, still demanding the doll with loud, gravelly grunts. "D-Don't mind him, he doesn't have a very good temper... Ah... Ah, did your wand just change, too...? I don't really know exactly what I'm s-supposed to be doing just yet..."

eternaldelusion
Billy grinned, seeming like it was the best thing in the world to have run into someone in the same boat as him, "I'm William Swanson, and the little nipper is Trent." He looked to Razelt, then chuckled softly, "He's uh..got quite the personality." He tried to get the doll and this time Trent relented. Well...he didn't really relent. The doll's joints just couldn't take it anymore, and one of the arms came off, leaving Billy with the rest of it.

He shifted, then held the armless-doll out to Razzie. "Here you go, buddy. Trent's got a pretty even temper, himself, he's just stubborn."

Trent stared at the doll that had been attached to the arm he was holding, looking utterly confused. How did THAT happen? He frowned, then seemed to forget about it, and waved the arm, hitting Billy in the face a couple of times. Billy looked exasperrated, but didn't retaliate.

He chuckled and nodded, "But yeah, same thing with the guy and book. He changed a couple of days ago. I'm a bit razzled," he said, grinning awkwardly, "Just heading off to buy the rest of the things I need. Wish they'd given us some warning what we'd be i--" he was cut off as the doll's hand hit him in the mouth again, and Trent made a happy noise.

"You're doing that deliberatly. You little bugger..."

Tsunake
"It's a pleasure." Nataki managed to say without stuttering, somehow feeling a bit less tense thanks to the man's friendliness, and how calmly he seemed to be handling this whole mess. "He's a little monster..." She commented, watching as the ogre eagerly snatched the proffered doll and stuffed its head into his mouth. With a few contented grunts, he settled down to chew on the unfortunate bit of fabric and fluff. The blonde relented a little, and risked patting his lumpy skull, which earned another happy grunt from the baby. "...I think I'm starting to get used to him, and he to me, though." She smiled absently and shook her head, fixing her eyes back on William and Trent. "Thank you. That was very kind of you--it's the first time in a while that he's stopped fussing."

A giggle escaped her as the poor man was gently whapped in the face with one of the doll's limbs, before she flushed, adjusting her glasses mildly and clearing her throat some. "Oh, so we aren't so alike after all. I... I was going to go shopping as well for Razelt, but we had to stop and take a break." Nataki sighed a little before she laughed again, her weary, timid expression seeming to relax some. "He's cute. Do you know... what he's supposed to be?" She ventured hesitantly, wondering if that was maybe too personal to ask. "Razelt's a Mountain Ogre." The woman looked a little pale at that, still fretting about just how big he was going to get. Hopefully not too big...?

"Ah... I hop I'm not being a bother, but... the things you were going to buy. Were they for Trent? I'm afraid I don't have any idea of where to start looking for baby products..." She wondered if the sun was going to be bad for Razelt--it wasn't like he was wearing anything, after all! What a nightmare that'd be; dealing with a sunburned baby...

eternaldelusion
"Hey, no problem," he said, smiling and nodded, "I've got a little girl at home, so I know what it's like to deal with little monsters," he said, chuckling, and shifting Trent in his arms a bit, so his other claw wasn't digging into his chest. Trent grunted in a displeased way, but didn't start fussing. He turned his head to look at the ogre boy, saw what he was doing, and looked at the arm curiously, before chewing on the fingers in an uncertain way. But it proved to be entertaining, and he curled up and settled in.

Billy looked up again at her question, and made an awkward noise, "He's a kraken. Apparently. Doesn't really seem like one, does he? Just looks like a crab boy." he said, but smiled, "A mountain ogre? I understand why he's a handful now."

Trent kept looking at the other boy, to make sure he hadn't decided to start doing something else without Trent realizing.

"Oh, no! No bother at all. Yeah, they're for Trent," he said, smiling warmly, "Did you want to join us? I'd be glad to help you out some." He wasn't worried about the sun. All that seemed to happen was Trent got a little bit slimey...uncomfortable for the man, but the baby didn't seem to care.

Tsunake
Oh, did he mean a daughter? Nataki nodded thoughtfully to herself, curious. She'd always heard girls were sweeter than boys, but she of all people were no expert. As Trent popped the doll's hand into his mouth, the blonde blinked a little, her lips thinning. Oh, drat. Why did she have the sinking feeling that Razelt was going to be a bad influence on people he met? Well, he was just a baby--she shouldn't fret too much. Razelt was oblivious, slobbering and making a mess of the armless doll quite happily.

"A kraken..." She'd read stories, of course. The kraken was sometimes depicted as a raging monstrosity, the devourer of ships and the like--but in some cases, mostly fantasy books, it was said to be a gentle, reclusive beast that lurked within the darkest of the ocean depths. Trent certainly didn't look like a massive beast of lore, and she nodded quietly with agreement. "I wonder how much more they'll change." Nataki said quietly, almost to herself. If they'd gone from dormant wands to living, breathing children, what else could possibly be in store for them? "This is all so confusing..."

Razelt finally seemed to notice he was being stared at and thrust out his bottom jaw so his bottom teeth could poke out, the doll still hanging from his mouth as he puzzled over the other boy for the first time. With a little grunting growl, he shook his head from side to side, sending the doll flailing--then stopped to watch Trent expectantly. Play?

The woman practically wilted with relief at his offer, nodding emphatically. "Y-Yes, yes please, if you wouldn't mind. I'd appreciate the company." She said anxiously, and, making sure the heavy infant was held tightly in her arms, got again to her feet. "Thank you so much--you really have no idea how relieved I am to meet someone in the same situation as me!" Of course, there'd been that strange, horrible night in that building before... but Nataki herself hadn't been in the situation she was in now, either.

eternaldelusion
Billy got a concerned look on his face at the mention of further change, but shrugged it off, "Well, if he starts turning into a giant crustacean, then we'll have a problem," he said, soundly only slightly amused by the thought. He didn't think his house could accommodate something like that..."Hopefully they'll just...grow like normal babies," he looked at Razelt, and smiled, "But that, uh...may be a bit difficult to get used to." He looked down at Trent, who was no longer paying attention to the adults. "It's mind-numbingly confusing."

Trent seemed to get the message, and stretched out one of his normal arms making grabbing motions, as that was about as well as he could work his hands right now. He didn't really understand the concept of 'play' but he knew the other boy expected something.

"Oh, it's no problem at all. I'm just as glad as you are," he said, looking relieved, "I was worried that this might be some big conspiracy against me," he said, laughing, " 'Pin this poor sod with a watery baby, and just for fun, we'll add pincers'." He turned slightly, and gestured to the mall that sat at the end of the street, "We're heading there, if that's ok."

Tsunake
She hid a smile behind bandaged fingers and gently pushed her glasses back up the bridge of her nose. "I hope so too. I'm going to have enough difficulty just raising him like a normal child--I don't need any surprises!" Lord knows it'd just give her a heart attack. "I almost... wonder if we couldn't find that shop again and ask questions. They were the ones to give us these wands; surely they've got to have some sort of information to help us out." But, this seemed to be a conversation for another day. There were other things that needed to be done.

A gurgling coo of wide-eyed interest escaped from the rocky child, and he strained against Nataki's arms. The doll's legs would limply brush against Trent's stretching fingers, inviting him to grab it and pull. Razelt wasn't going to relinquish his prize so easily however, encouraging, grating growls of playfulness rumbling deep in his throat.

The blonde woman looked a little flattered at his words; she wasn't used to hearing such compliments. "Oh, no, no." Nataki laughed nervously and tucked a scraggly strand behind one ear. "I thought I'd just been pranked or something silly. I didn't really believe what they'd told me at first. But, well, when the wand shot all that smoke out..." She hefted Razelt onto one hip--switching when he squalled with protest so he was closer to Trent again--and gave a small nod. "Sounds wonderful." Mentally, she ran over her checklist again. Clothing, toys, baby supplies... ah, yes, and cartoons. Couldn't forget the cartoons.

eternaldelusion
Billy nodded eagerly at that thought, "Yeah, I haven't even thought about finding it again! It makes sense. I feel a bit silly now," he said, but smiled, "Maybe once we're done shopping, if there's time, we can try and locate it again."

Trent tugged on it, then blinked at the reaction...and of course, tugged on it again, guessing it was a good thing to do. And the noises the other boy made were funny, and didn't sound like he disagreed with the pulling. He couldn't pull very hard, having not been using his arms very long, but he seemed to be enjoying himself nonetheless.

"Oh, yeah, I thought it was a trick too, but...here we are. With ogre babies, and babies with too many limbs," regardless, he gave Trent a fond smile, before looking up again, "Alright," he grinned, then turned, and started walking, slowly so she could catch up, "I don't have much more to buy, just toys, and some sort of food. Its weird, he doesn't want formula, he doesn't want the baby food..." he frowned, "I don't know what he wants. I had to make him drink the formula just so he'd stop crying over how hungry he was."

Tsunake
Oh! So that'd been a good suggestion, after all? A hesitant, but pleased smile slipped across the young woman's face before she nodded as well. "That sounds... lovely, actually." Maybe she could finally get some answers! Of course, she'd always been a bit of a sponge; she soaked up whatever information she could from her books and did what she could to use it, even if she rarely had the chance. It didn't hurt that this man's attitude was infectious and made her feel inspired to get things done.

Soft, excited snorts made their way from Razelt's small nostrils when Trent participated in this strange, not-game. He tugged and tugged, unable to do so as hard as he wanted to thanks to the walking of his 'mother', but from the way he eagerly gripped at her arms, he was having a good time. Why, he'd even forgotten about the diaper still clinging to his lower half...

"I'm almost surprised that I'm already sort of used to it." Nataki admitted after a moment with a weak chuckle, silently grateful for his slower pace. She was a small woman, and Razelt was at least twenty pounds. He hadn't stayed still in her arms when she'd stepped on the scale, so she hadn't been able to read it very well. "He's not eating...?" She frowned a little, remembering how Razelt had taken chunks out of the bottle she'd been feeding him with. "Well... I suppose this sounds silly, but, he is supposed to be a kraken, isn't he? M-Maybe... I'm not sure. 'Fish food' just sounds awful, but..." Perhaps it'd be worth a try? It sounded terribly inhumane, but these infants weren't human.

eternaldelusion
Trent was very amused by the snorts, and though he hadn't yet smiled, or laughed, he made excited noises of his own, kicking his legs and tugging back. He didn't, at all, get the point of this, but he continued to tug, one of his other hands coming up so he could suck on his fingers as he pulled, eyes wide and watching the other boy.

Billy looked a little unsure by the suggestion, naturally, but he did seem to consider it. He looked at the woman, and bit his lip, "Well...he does sort of sleep in a fishtank," he said with a weak chuckle. Saying it out loud made it sound horrible..."He does seem to love it in there. We can give it a try, I'd rather he eat fish food, than nothing at all."

Tsunake
The baby chewed furiously on the bits of doll still stuck in his mouth, and, with his next tug, there was a sudden tearing sound. The bold yellow of his eyes went wide, and the doll's head now hung from his mouth by its hair. Yet, Razlet hardly seemed upset by the sudden, violent end to his newest toy--if anything, he was beginning to chomp down on what remained with gusto. Tiny growls still burbled somewhere in his throat as he turned his attention entirely to the doll now, pawing at it with grey fingers.

Nataki looked rather aghast at the unexpected violence that occured in a matter of seconds, stuttering wordlessly until she managed to heft the infant up on her hip a little more. Goodness, but he was heavy... "R-Razelt, no... That wasn't nice at all!" She tried to scold, but the infant was oblivious. "I'm so sorry..." The blonde looked a little frazzled as they grew closer to the mall, stepping cautiously through the opened sliding doors. "He sleeps in a fishtank?" She repeated incredulously, then glanced again to the boy's claws. "Can he actually breathe underwater?" How fascinating... Save for Razelt's crushing strength, Nataki hadn't discovered anything abnormal about him. Well, despite his homly appearance. "Ohh, I do hope it goes well. That must be hard on the both of you, otherwise." She said a little anxiously before she paused in front of the mall directory.

"Supplies for infants...Ah, it looks like there's a general store for that sort of thing on the second floor." Well, she could handle carrying Razelt for a little while longer. Maybe she should think about investing in a stroller or something, especially if he was only going to get heavier.
