Richard seemed to take the threat no more seriously than a housecat would regard a mouse showing it a restraining order. Perhaps after a few changes this man would be a threat but right now the cat was feeling particularly cocky. There was nothing to fear from a new human. With a few quick motions she was back in the tree, sitting a low branch. She settled in to it before responding.
"Tsk," She shook her head sadly at Nicky. "You did better than most." Nicky's tough guy attitude impressed Richard some but it was obvious to her she had shaken her target in some way and that smug satisfaction played out over her feline features.
"Very well you want truth? I have truth." Richard gazed up at the forest canopy above them. "The jungle is not safe, especially for new arrivals such as yourself. There are inhabitants that are far fiercer than I who take special offense to people tromping through their territory." It was unsaid but the look that followed that sentence, communicated that Nicky was trespassing. "Three weeks after arrival, you'll receive your second inject and begin to your transformation into what ever struck Sabin's fancy this month. I know a woman who's growing tentacles from her lips. Oh and the transformations are usually painful enough to reduce the most macho of men into a mewling ball of pain." The bitterness absolutely dripped from those words.
"Had enough of your reality yet Nicky?"

The threat was a mistake. Nicky knew it was. Sizing up Richard, he was more than certain he'd get his a** handed to him...and probably be killed to boot...if he tried to attack. Although he was also certain that Richard would never forget just how capable a human body was. But that was the past...nothing he could do about it now. With a sigh he hefted up the stick and leaned it once more over his shoulder as he watched Richard with interest as she climbed the tree.
A quirked brow was all the response he gave to her initial question. As she shoveled out information, he silently took it all in, no emotions playing across his face. Three weeks...that's...what...next week? He shuddered slightly, immediately praying she didn't catch it. Also...watch out for the crazies...back home they had them...here they obviously have them. No restraint...no control. Worthless in the big picture...but perhaps, maybe...maybe I can find a use for them. He just gave a slight grin as she described the pain included in the change...and swung the club down to lean against it like one would a fancy dress-cane. Don't sweat it, Nicky...you've got time. Also, take everything it says with a grain of salt...don't believe its lies. It wants control over you, but its nt going to get it.
"No, no...not at all, love," he said with a grin filled with malice, "What else can I expect from out mutual friend and benefactor, the good Doctor Duvert? Furthermore, I want your impressions on the other islanders. Who's dangerous, who's stupid, and who's willing to listen to reason?"

The "love," comment earned Nicky a surprised look, Richard looked about started to object until her eyes focused on her chest. She settled for a grumbling sigh. Explaining her predicament to Nicky was not something she felt like doing at the moment so let it pass. Instead she took to analyzing Nicky's comment for any signs of sarcasm but found none. Sabin as either a friend or a benefactor did not sit well with her and her tail flicked in annoyance.
And he wanted a data dump like that? It was as if he expected them to be working together for some reason. "Choosing a side before you even know the game eh? You want me to tell you all about this gilded cage because you drop a name?" She causally lick the back of her handpaw a few times and then inspected her claws before turning back to Nicky. "Get this straight now, I'm not Sabin's lackey." She smirked. "That position is filled anyway."

Nicky quirked a brow at the look of surprise, but just filed that little tidbit away for later. Overall, he wasn't too worried about the information he would get from this cat-thing. Mostly he felt she would be unreliable at best...besides, he could always get the views of some of the less hostile islanders. He just smirked a bit at her comments. "I'm not the one saying it," he said, that smirk threatening to turn into a grin. Overall, he hoped his comments would at least be ambiguous...but it seems she took them to heart. This...Richard must really hate Sabin if she reached like that...
He quickly went through the various names he's learned since arriving here, trying to pinpoint which would be Sabin's 'lacky.' It came easily enough. Sabin was a man of eccentricities...a dragon was right up his alley. "One Zachary...a 'dragon' if I'm not mistaken," he said, emphasising 'dragon' if only to show his disbelief and disgust. "I'm told he's quick to anger and runs to daddy Duvert whenever there's a problem."

As far as Richard was concerned the less people that knew that she and Sabin had reached an "understanding" the better. She did not want to be pegged as some one who was pro labs. She perfered to think of it as pro power struggle.
Richard snorted at Nicky's description of Zachary. "The transformation don't increase intelligence. Thats a fact. A fool is a still a fool. Although... sanity is not always preserved." A tentacle shot straight up into the foliage, snapping back with a book attached to it. She peeled it from the tentacle tip and passed it to her lower arms which opened it in her lap. She smiled to herself, proud that she had nabbed the book her first try. She knew her tree better than her own body as this point.

"So it seems," he said softs as he listened to Richard. So far Zach seems to be less than trustworth...much less reliable. And violent...a pity. During his thoughts though, Nicky was slightly surprised by the quick action of the tentacle...the only reaction shown was a quirked brow. He idly wondered if she was trying to impress him...or intimidate...it's not a surprise how often those go hand in hand. However, grabbing that book seemed to also be her signal that she was done with him. He mentally shrugged as he idly scratched at the injection mark on his arm. "Well, Richard...I suppose I should get out of your...territory then?" he asked, mostly just giving her one last chance to offer up some information. Overall, as much as her form disturbed Nicky...there was something fascinating about her personality. He didn't want to leave...but so far it seemed that her only real thougts toward him were those of disdain and anger. With this type it was best to allow them to end any meeting.

She looked from her book to the former gangster with a smug smile. "Talk to me in week or two, after the itsnotgoingtohappentomeitius is good and shattered. " she smiled a grin that perked up her ears. "A new wind might just start blowing about then."

Nicky nodded a few times, that deadly calm back on his face...at the moment seriousness was his game. "Oh...I think the injection mark in my arm and the fact that I spent the other day talking to a pegasus and a young-man that seems to be part penguin have already shattered that notion..." he said, trailing off as he wondered how much information he should give out...well...why not? What could she do with it? "Makes me wish I'd read the contract that signed my life away."

Richard shrugged, "Wouldn't have made a difference I suspect. Not many of us signed any sort of contract. They get you here any way they can and once your here it begins." How many diferent stories had people been told to come here Richard wondered. "Doesn't matter how you get here."

Nicky nodded. It was like he suspected. A lie within a lie...He highly doubted if there was another person with a similar background as his here, now. Of course...if the majority of islanders here were once just the nine to five workers...this could get interesting. That small smirk came back to his face as he tipped an imaginary cap in her direction. "Been lovely talking to you...though I suppose you'll be wanting me gone 'bout now, eh?" he said as he began to walk...he paused after a few steps and looked back to her. "Oh...and I'm dreadfully grateful you left my throat intact."

With feline disinterest Richard nodded and turned back to her book. "If I had removed it then I wouldn't get to see if Sabin was still on his tentacle kick." She chuckled quietly to herself. "I will see you around I'm sure." Maybe some other time she'd pry Nicky's story out of him but right now she wanted some solitude.

Nicky just walked on, pretending to pay her words no mind. It did worry him though...he'd seen oddities...he'd seen freaks. Is this monstrosity of nature truly what's in store for him? He shuddered...glad to get away from the cat-thing in the tree.
