You guys... this is starting to get pretty racist against Christians... do you mind quitting lowering yourselves to their level and cut this out?!! Besides, the Catholics that take their religion seriously are not that bad, so it is ridiculous to be bashing them so much. Sheesh.

True- I apologize if anybody took my comment out of context: I was reforming to Martin Luther in the Reformation protesting against the sale of indulgences where you paid money to get your sins "cleansed." It was not my intention at all and I apologize if anybody took it wrongly. I have NOTHING against the religion of Christianity or any question, and if it came across that way, I apologize. sweatdrop

Getting back the original question, I think the whole concept of Satan is far different. Besides that, I've heard that G-d is nicer in the New Testament rather than the old testament, and doesn't punish people as harshly and is not as vengeful. However, not really sure, as I haven't read the New Testament to be sure. Sorry- I wish I could help more, but I don't really have anything to compare it to. sweatdrop

It's not racist, since Christianity is a belief system and has nothing to do with race, which is genetically determined.

It's getting a bit anti-Christian and prejudicial in here, however.

I think everyone knew what the outcome of this thread was going to be. Obviously if you ask a bunch of Jewish people what they think about the Christian bible, you're going to have someone who will say,"It's wrong!", myself included!

There is no racism involved in this guild, and there should be no need to walk on eggshells. If it's what you believe, why the heck should you care what someone else thinks.

The problem with religion is you have 4000 different beliefs who all think they are right. WHO KNOWS who is right? No one! I would like to think my wonderful and fulfulling religion is, but the fact that some of you are shooting people down for stating opinions on what they thought the issue was, is quite ridiculous.

Go into a room of skinheads and ask them what they think about African Americans.

Go into a room filled with neo-Nazis and ask them what they think of Jews.

Go into a room with Jews and ask them what they think of the New Testament.

You're going to get a pretty heated debate on how all of those people think they are right compared to the other.

To A Murder of Angels, sorry your question didn't get the answers you would have liked.
To Roothands, sorry this isn't your guild, and we all can't act accordingly and with grace when it comes to something some of us believe is wrong.
To Dragons, talking of racism shouldn't have been necessary. It has nothing to do with the color of a Christians skin, or the fact that some may feel superior to them, it's the fact that Christians did horrible things. I don't blame current ones, because they cannot go back in time, but not realizing your faults, and building over them, will not make them go away.

A simple question should not be turned into a "who is a Christian basher and who isn't." I know the creator of the thread didn't want it to turn into that.

Good point, kingpinsqeezels. I didn't really have the foresight to see it that way. Perhaps I didn't phrase my question as I should have, or perhaps I'm just naive.

No- it's not your fault in any way that people were getting off topic and turning this into a Christian bashing thread, myself included. I guess the problem is that not many Jews know about the inner text of Christianity, as I never bothered to read it. sweatdrop

A Murder of Angels
*sigh* I made this thread because I wanted to learn about Jews... not bash Christians. sweatdrop

sweatdrop Sometimes we get carried away. It's coming from the fact that some people here suffered from high levels of stupidity and injustice from certain groups sweatdrop

Is there anything else you'd like to know? 3nodding

I'm not saying you're naive or stupid...

To Roothands, sorry this isn't your guild, and we all can't act accordingly and with grace when it comes to something some of us believe is wrong.

First of all, I was reminding the OP that this wasn't my Guild, because that user is in my Guild. I didn't mean it as a value judgment against this Guild. I was replying to that person, not just making a random comment, as can be seen by the fact that I was replying to quoted text.

Second of all, I don't think it's acceptable to be prejudiced against Christians and their beliefs, even if you think they are wrong. I hate that Christians get many things wrong, and don't understand the meaning of the Hebrew source texts they mistranslated the Bible from, but there are newer translations that are getting better at that, and :gasp: some Christians actually care about getting an accurate translation from the original Hebrew, even if they believe differently from us (for example, Job or Isaiah are seen very differently by Christians). There are some Christians in this world who don't hate Jews, who don't want to ship them to Israel to fulfill some fake doomsday prophecy (which some Christians know is fake) like Pat Robertson. There are some denominations, and I don't want to single anyone out to say that this denomination is better than the other because it comes down to how individuals act, but frankly, some denominations tend to be better about promoting interfaith dialogue and understanding than others. Not all Christians are loony evangelicals (almost half of the Christians in this country are evangelical, but still, that leaves about 52% that aren't).

I just hate it when anyone bashes anyone else. I see it as hypocritical if you expect others to understand and respect your beliefs.

Again, I agree with what you said, especially the last part. Even if somebody doesn't agree with a Christian belief, it doesn't mean it's "wrong." Everybody is entitled to believe in what they want to, and I think everybody would like that right themselves.
