Yi grinned. A part of her saw this as another thing to best her brother at, but a small, tiny part of her was happy. Happy that they were not fighting, that they were doing somthing they never did as children, things normal brothers and sisters did. A little race... "You'll regret it brother." she said simple.
Her legs tightened, her wings tucked against her body to no slow her down during the foot race part. She grinned at him before suddenly she sprang forward, galloping ahead. not full speed, but fast enough.

It didn't take long for the stallion to get himself situated, and he didn't think twice about what his said, just gave a small smirk that pulled at the very corners of his lips. Regret was not for the practiced runner. Soon enough though, he saw her go forward, and just to emphasize on the fact of not regreting to partcipate, he allowed her to go forward a few strides without competition. That is, until one of her forehooves struck the ground once again, and the stallion exploded forwarded in a bolt that brought him great speed very quickly, before he settled into a comfortable pace. His wings as well were tucked tightly against his sides, and his ears pinned against the sides of his skull to prevent the wind from tickling that certain spot just before them. Ka was fairly confident in this leg of the race, but knew he would have to work when it came to the flying part, so the buckskin yet again dug his heels in deeper, in hopes of putting more ground between them before that part came up, and the time to fly neared.

Yi could have growled as she brother pulled ahead. But she knew it would be so. All she could think of now was to keep up enough that when they took to the skies she could surpass him, as she knew she could. He might be fast on land, but she was sure she had inheirited a better speed of flight. Her heart thudded. From excitment or jsut the intence running she wasn't used to, she didnt' know. But it was fun, exilirating. She didn't even bother to shout jeers to her brother. It would have spoiled everything.
And then, in seemingly and instent, the were fastly aproching the point again, their starting point. THe finaly lap was in reach. Faster...faster...keep up, don't let him get away! SHe was grinning now as they continued closer...closer...Her wigns began to unfold, she would not stop to take off but do it from her run, which she knew could end badly if she messed up. But she didnt' care as she counted down the seconds. 5...4...3...2...1...Jump!

One lap down, and Ka had made sure to dig his heels into the dirt for that last burst of speed. He would need it after all, for though he wasn't a bad flyer by any means, he wasn't as great in the sky as he was on the ground. An odd thought occured to him as his muscles bunched and prepared for the jump, that a sudden bulk, a singled well placed kick, and no witnesses... NO! With a sudden snort of hardened fury the stallion kept himself from thinking of that plan further, and with a pounding thud went unfurled his feathered wings to leap up and into the air. It took some good bursts from his wings to get him there, but in a moment his momentum caught up with him, and the stallion went straight into work. Lucky for him, he could keep up such work for a very long time.

Her legs pounded and as she neared her wings opened to their full extent and she lept into the air, not pauseing for a moment. She rose quickly before shooting off. If she could pass her brother now she could win. Her large wings beat powerfully. Flying was her hobby. If she had a troubled mind and it needed clearing she would fly around to clear it. If she was bored a stroll in the air was always pleasent. Faster, faster. Her wings beat powerfully, stilled for a glid, then were back at work. She had never flown so fast, it was not needed, but it was amazing. Her heart pumping in her ears, her breath hard and in bursts. It was the most exilirating thing she had ever done. She'd need to challange him again soem time.

Work. Beat his wings harder then before, propel himself with more force then previously used, stream-line his body; anything to prevent a loss in speed. The stallion was far from losing, but he didn't doubt the mare's ability to catch up to him if he became the least bit lazy in his movements. As the lap went on and his wings snapped harder every time, Ka fought furiously to keep his lead. A quick glance over his shoulder confirmed his suspisions, and his gaze returning forward showed him how close to the finishing point they were. Well, if she was holding back any he knew it would be difficult to win if he didn't do anything to prevent loss in ground; which had already been diminished by quite a bit. Flaring of his crimson nostrils, he broke his stream-line to arch at the back and angle himself downward, using gravity to pull himself forward and down with greater speed. It was all up to chance now; though landing safely was going to be a problem.

He was insane! Suddenly she burst forward in a faster speed. She tilted down a little, to fly forward, but head down slower the before. After all she was not suisidle. She did not wanna risk killing herself. Her heart beat pounded as the ground neared, the finishing point got closer...closer...closer...

Insane, now that was an understatement when it came to the stallion's mental stability now a days. Not only was angling himself downward, but he was practically falling when his wings folded partially inward to reduce wind residence. Certainly, such an act would definatly be seen as a deadman's last wish. Faster and faster the ground seemed as if it would come for him like a hard kick to the chest, but Yi was getting ever closer, which pushed him to greater action. At the very last moment, that single foot where it really did become sucidial, Ka's wings flashed open in a fury, snapping his spine upwards and his neck downwards. Fighting with a slight stiffness he pulled his head up to keep his body from smacking onto the ground, soaring past the finish line. No doubt about it though, Yi had come very close to passing him, if not tieing. At the moment the stallion wasn't exactly sure, for his mind was on greater problems. The earth, with its embrace of red dust, came flying up at him suddenly, and it was all he could do to land at a run and allow his momentum to carry on in strides before he was able to stop safely. Such a thing though, had left his joints begging to be undone, and begging to buckle. When he finally was allowed to stop, the stallion resisted the urge to move his neck to much, but that didn't stop him from quirking a muzzle in his sister's direction. Morbid sea-green eyes that much colder.

She gasp as she landed on the ground. Instently she looked to her brother who had to stop farther alone. "You are a maniac." she said between gasps of breaths. She slowly closed her aching wings, her legs throbing. But her heart thudded loudly. "That was...amazing..." she started grinning. "We HAVE to do that again some time." she smiled.

Lucky for Ka he wasn't by any means a push-over, and bared the stiffness to his spine and neck without question, even stood steadily with the urge to let his knees buckle. His breathing of course, like Yi's, was sharp, but it came out in small snorts. Her enthusiam about the race though, is what got him. Again? Sure, he'd love to beat her again. At least, he would have loved to say that had his breathing been any better, and his joints not about to give out on him. That landing had certainly done a number on the stallion. The only incantation he gave of actually hearing her was a small dip of his muzzle in approval to the idea of doing it again, before he turned in the other direction. After that fight and that race, he was bed-bound. "Good-bye Yi", he spoke, for once not offering some sort of retort to everything she said.

She blinked. No wity remark? No gloating? "Yeah..." she said lightly. She nodded. "see ya around Ka, don't go getting you butt kicked." she turned and lifted off ,with a bit of effort. Slowly she headed for her sleeping area. A nice nap would do some good, she desided.

Perhaps it was the last bit of his sanity that flashed on his lips as they curled into a small, futile smile while the mare left. Or just maybe it was the fleeting loss of energy he had, but either way the stallion couldn't help but find that last part amusing. "And you watch your back, dear sister." The thought came steadily, swiftly, as Ka moved his stiff legs forward. He didn't care what time of day it was, the stallion was going to sleep once he found his place.
