((Sooo very sorry Trel! ;_; Forgive the week delay.))
Ravii did her best to clean the little girl between her paws. It wasn't an easy task, but the cream and violet pawed wolfess took to it diligently, treating Masque exactly as she would one of her own puppies. Ravii understood what it was like to be alone, to have no family, no kin. She knew the fear, the hurt, the grief that could overwhelm a wolf. . . .and to think that it had struck a small one such as Masque!
For shame.
Delicately working out tangles in fur, licking clean the mud and grime, Ravii couldn't help but think of all the lone pups she'd met in her travels. Each had gone their seperate ways - Nen, Alexander, Bindi - and only the latter had found companionship within a pack. The other two . . . . how were they faring?
Silently keen on her task, Ravii smiled down at Masque as she lazily thwapped at Amarii. Such a sweetie. . . . . Oh, how her heart could only hope that future happiness awaited the yellow and green-socked puppy.
Amarii watched as her mother cleaned Masque, occassionally offering her own spot of help. A little nibble there, a few quick licks there. In reality, Amarii didn't do a whole lot of good, but it was the thought that counted. As a paw batted at her nose -or at least batted somewhere in the vacinity of her nose- the white pup giggled.
She liked to smile and laugh, and to see Masque so relaxed, to see her attempt a game, it pleased the little princess to no end. Her tail wagged excitedly behind her, and she shifted closer to nuzzle her new friend.
"Mayrii just doesn't get out much," Amarii explained with a dismissive shrug. "Maybe when you come over she'll come out and plaaay!" Oh, it wasn't as if the mauve wolf stayed completely in the den. It just seemed (to Amarii) that her sister didn't take her up on her offers to explore other places. They hadn't gone on an adventure together yet, and sometimes, every now and then, Amarii wished they would.
They were sisters, trouble and adventure was exactly the sort of thing they were supposed to do!
It took a wee bit longer before Ravii finished with Masque. Her work wasn't complete, but it would suffice for now. If the little girl wanted to eat, the mother was sure that she'd be restained with leftovers soon enough. And with Amarii in charge, Ravii could guarentee that the night was far from over. "Feel any better. . .?" She asked softly, giving the yellow pup a nuzzle on her cheek. "You're not a hundred percent clean, I'm afraid, but hopefully that'll do for now. I don't know about you, but I think some dinner may be in order."

Somehow... she did feel much better. At first she could not voice it, only show by the gratutude in her gold eyes and a happy wag of her tail. Further vocal hesitation then "yes... thank you." It was the quietest coice Masque could muster & yet still be heard.
She was still curious about what Amarii meant about her sister. But then she and her litter mates had always been out and about both wolf den and their humans' village in safety. Her tail wagged with more intensity and her eyes started to glow with perhaps a bit more hope. "Really? Play? With you? Come over?"
Golden eyes glanced between the pairhopeful yet terrified to hope. Then her tummy rumbled loudly as if to bring the cub's mind back to the last thing the purple marked she-wolf had said. Masque looked instantly shamed & ducked her head shyly. "Dinner... that's not crawly-bugs?"

Amarii giggled at her friend, leaping to her paws to give her a very friendly lick on her cheek. "Yes! Come play - you can come with us and we'll have a great time! We'll even stick around the den just to make Mom happy." Golden eyes rolled at the thought, but she didn't mind! If she had a new puppy to play with then all would be well. Think of all the adventures they could go on together? And maybe - just maybe - Ravii would let them explore a bit further if they were together!
"We'll have so much fun, me and you," she promised, red tassle wagging a million miles per hour behind her. Giving a friendly woof, excited by the prospect, the silly pup bound away from her mother and Masque, only to whirl around and slap her front paws on the ground. Butt stuck in the air, she gave the ever-familiar play bow and hoped Masque would take her up on the offer.
"We can be princesses!" She informed her new friend, giggling with an infectious mirth.
Ravii couldn't help but smile at her daughters hyperactivity. The silly girl. . . . she reminded her quite a bit of herself. Oh, how innocent they were. . . Well, more innocent. Amarii hadn't ever been alone, nor had she suffered such a terrible loss as Masque. The white and yellow butterfly pup had been through a horrible experience and Ravii could only hope that she'd find happiness in her future.
She knew what it was like to be alone, without family, so Ravii could easily relate.
Waiting for Masque to move, Ravii stayed upon her bell, tail wagging softly back and forth behind her. At the puppies response to a future meal, the cream femme couldn't help but laugh in delight. Blue eyes dancing with mirth, she leaned down and nuzzled the pup. "Yes, Masque - I'm talking real meat. Rabbit, deer, fish. We have more than enough to spare, darling, and it would please me to no end if you came back with us."
She hoped the pup would take her up on their offer. If Masque didn't want to stay with them, that was up to the pale furred pup. Ravii wouldn't force her to do anything she wasn't comfortable with! But at the very least she hoped the green pawed pup would come back for at least one meal, and perhaps a game or two.
Ravii didn't want to think of the little one alone and without a family.
There were too many predators lurking about that would take fast advantage of such a sight.

It was infectious and soon Masque was giggling over her rumbling tummy -though she could not say why. She did not get up to play right away, but moved a little bit slow as she stood in a wobbly fashion even as her tail wagged with nervous eagerness behind her. "What's a 'princess'?"
But that was nearly forgotten as Masque arched into the larger female's nuzzle, making a happy little sound that held only a trace of whimper. She knew Ravii was not her mother, but it was still so nice... so very nice... to have a parent-type care for her even if only for the moment. "It'll be... nice... to eat something other than crawly bugs..." The pup admitted shyly, ducking her head again and padding the ground beneath her softly. "I... I'd like to come."
Her tail wagged a little faster and golden eyes lifted in tenuous hope. She would never have her family back -Masque knew that- but perhaps she did not need to be alone. DreamDancer would not have wanted her cub to be on her own.

((Oh! I'm sooo sorry Trel! D: I thought I'd responded but . . . apparently not. ))
Such a sweetheart, Ravii's heart couldn't help but go out to the pale pup before her. Her smile widened as she heard a gentle giggle escape the pups throat, and her bushy cream and violet tail wagged. Slowly, the mother rose to her feet, looking down at both of the small girls before her.
"I... I'd like to come."
The relief was apparent in her gaze, and her pleasure made Ravii glow. At least the girl could get a good meal and find some new friends. Secretly, she hoped that the puppy would stay. . . They had a den, and a quiet land. Certainly it wasn't a pack, but it was . . . . a family. Ravii was together with her girls, and that was all that mattered.
Stepping over Masque and Amarii, Ravii glanced happily over her shoulder. "Well then, my dears, shall we be off? It's not far from here, Masque darling," she reassured, taking the first few steps back to the small clearing in the woods.
What luck and fortune Amarii had run in to the small pup! To think if her daughter hadn't traversed so far away they might not have ever met such a pup. The poor darling could have met the fate of another wolf not so kind or caring, or another beast for that matter!
But no. . . . she had been saved such an awful fate! There was no use in worrying over the what-if's...
"What are princesses?" She giggled, batting amicably at her new friends face ever so gently. "Well, a princess is a girl wolf who's VERY, very important and beautiful! They're the prettiest wolves in the forest, and not everyone gets to be one, ya know. Only the best of the best! And . . . and they get to go on great adventures and find Prince Charmings and all sorts of fun things!"
Amarii practically swooned at the thought. She wasn't entirely sure what a princess was, or where they came from, but deep in her heart the optimistic girl knew that if ever there was a princess. . . she'd be one. And if she was one, then that automatically meant that Masque got to be one too!
She was coming back home with them! They could be princesses AND sisters all in one! How great would that be? Licking Masque on the cheek, she scurried underneath Ravii's paws before circling around and dipping in to a play bow before Masque.
"Come on!" She giggled, "You can come with me and I'll show you the shortcut to the den! It'll be like a race - you with me against Mom!" Gold eyes bright, she hoped her new friend would be up for the challenge.

A flicker of hope. A curious wonder as the tired pup feeling better than she had in many days lifted her weary paws to pad softly after the mother and daughter. After the mother more than the daughter, it seemed. Which was all right by her. Masque's small tail gave a feeble but honest wag, absorbing about princesses. The description made her think of her mother, the beautiful female visualizing within her cub's mind, smiling softly. Would she be lovely and loved like her mother? Would she do her mother proud?
There was a whisper of tenderness, reminding Masque of her mother's mind-touch. So much so that a fresh tear sprung to her eye & she whimpered silently with only a shake to show it. Instantly the touch turned comforting and the cub's shakes were gone. She smiled at her new playmate and 'sister?' of sorts.
"A r-race? O-okay!" Masque stammered a little, but her little body looked ready to try exhausted though she was. It had been far too long since she had tried to play.
And later... she would learn more about being princess and maybe they could search for Prince Charmings together. Whatever those were. Masque's tummy rumbled again. Maybe they were something yummy to eat!

Amarii giggled delightedly. Reaching around, she licked her friends face happily before bounding off. "Come on, this way! It's just over this hill!" The small girl remembered that Masque had looked exhausted and tired, and had appeared to have been through a lot. But if she could just persuade her to get up and over the hill top, the other side lead straight to home! They really weren't far from the den. . . at least if they took her 'secret' shortcut.
Amarii was too innocent to realize that often Ravii took her own sweet time and 'let' the children win. The joy of puppish innocence. Tassel wagging excitedly, the girl giggled as she sprinted up the slight hill. Pausing at the top, she turned and waited for her friend with excitement. "Come on Masque! We're almost there!"
A quick look around for Ravii - where on earth had her mother gotten too? Oh, was that a flash of purple and cream? Eeee! She was taking the other way around, the long way as far as Amarii was concerned. Prancing from paw to paw, she wouldn't run down the hill until Masque was clearly by her side.
Ravii watched as the two girls ran, a warm smile crossing her features. Silly girls and their games. In no hurry herself, the cream wolf took the route around the hill. It was the flate route and the place the femme kept a few caches of meet. With a third pup in the mix, Ravii wanted to be sure the small one had a good belly full of meat.
Violet ears swiveled as she heard the puppies play. Pausing, keeping a glance around for potential predators or lurking beasts, Ravii began to dig. Down in the soft dirt, hidden beneath leaves and twigs, she came face to face with leftovers from a previous kill.
Not having a pack or territory to protect the leftovers, Ravii often had to hide them deep within the earth. Pulling out the tender leftovers, she continued her slow treck back to the den. At least Masque would have a meal waiting for her upon the trio's return.

The tired little pup giggled and raced after her new friend/sister. Sure, her green socked paws faltered more than once in their exhaustion, but still she managed to scramble up the slight slope. Good thing it was not more, poor little Masque was panting already. So much travel up until now, and very little sustenance to sustain her. Very little sleep too, for the pup only took that luxury when her body was so worn out that sleep could no longer be avoided.
For in sleep she saw her family again =if the dream was good- which made her cry.
If the dream was bad... she relived her pack's slaughter, but within her mind's imagination she saw & felt the death of each packmate, each sibling, each parent, as if she could both see them and feel the pain of the strange men's boom-sticks.
No... better not to sleep.
But maybe.... maybe in not being alone the dreams would be easier to bear.
"Coming, Amarii!!" The masked pup called, making the last strides to the other pup's side.
