Nalira smiled slightly, a strange sound coming from the depths of her throat as he rubbed her back. It, somehow, caused her to relax. She sunk into the hammock comfortably, closing her eyes.

"You have a beautiful smile, Khia." She said gently, opening one eye to peer at him. She parted her mouth gently, breathing in the crisp air around her. "Yes, Jiro does house a lot of intelligence for such a young child. He has a maturity way beyond his years .. He is truly something amazing."

She then let out a chuckle. "I wouldn't call you lazy, Khia .. I'd call you, a man who enjoys relaxing. Nothing wrong with that." She drew her hands up to her stomach, letting them fall limp. A smile pulled at her lips once more.

"Oh, you don't have to make me anything .. You're friendship is the only gift I need."

"Nnn...I doubt it - most people think I'm snarling at them when I do it." But he just flicked his ears a bit and shrugged, his fur rippling a bit as he lay there resting with the honey-haired girl.

"Dad calls me lazy all the time, 'Ren too - I don't know if you ever met him, he's one of my brothers..." Khia paused there, picturing for a moment the pink and siamese colored lykin - he'd like Nala to meet him, Veloren was an amazing person - and such a huge part of Khiarhu's life that he couldn't imagine not having the shorter man around.

"Say...Nala..." A thought had just hit the teen, and his tail wriggled happily - he hoped she'd say yes! "Do you think you'd wanna come over for dinner sometime? "You and yer mom - I know Dad wouldn't mind. He likes you a lot."

A grin immediately spread over her face, her heart giving a slightly flutter. No one had ever asked her over for dinner, so, naturally, she was rather excited.

"Of course, I mean .. I'd love to, we'd love to." She smiled, nodding vibrantly. She was almost certain Lemon wouldn't mind, she rather liked Syrie. She turned to look at Khiarhu, smiling happily.

"I don't have any siblings. I'm pretty much and only child. There are a few animals running around the house, but that's about it." She sighed gently to herself, playing with a strand of hair. It was kind of lonely being an only child. She loved Lemonlime, but she wasn't always home ..

She shook her head, looking back over to the teen, her heart fluttering around in her ribs as if a butterfly stuck inside a cage. She didn't have anything else to say, so she sunk further down into the hammock, closing her eyes, her fingers stroking through his fur gently. Her breath came out in a rhythmic fashion, the warmth radiating between the two keeping her at a comfortable temperature.

A very happy undertone of color came to the shapeshifter's fur, and his tail twitched a bit - he didn't quite feel the urge to get up just yet...though dinner...that was tempting.

Then again, Syrie would probably fuss and whine about not having enough time to prepare something good - and Khia recalled too that his parent hadn't gone shopping any time recently. "Great...I don't think it can happen tonight...Sy doesn't shop often." Khia huffed softly, apologetically. "But soon as he goes shopping, I'll come get you...would that be okay?"

The shifter couldn't imagine not having siblings...he had several - and oddly enough, around his father's lab...even the "pets" could sometimes be "people" It was strange.

The afternoon grew longer with the pair resting there in the hammock, and it wasn't until Syrie came to pick Khia up that they would leave; of course...the kitsune insisted on taking Nalira home, and also agreed to their dinner plans.

Syrie zipped around the kitchen, getting the last minute stuff ready for Nalira and Leanore's visit. Khia was waiting in the front room of the manor at the Lupix Sanctuary, ready to greet their guests. Syrie had given Nalira's mother directions to the Sanctuary, and had also made certain that none of the beasts living there would molest the pair.

Khia couldn't wait for his friend to come - he'd not seen her since that relaxing day in the hammock. Dinner would be a fun event...even 'Ren said he might drop by!

Lemonlime was stood out front of Syrie's house, guiding Nalira as she walked cautiously forward, stumbling occasionally. She waited until her daughter was next to her before asking if she was ready, and with a curt nod, she turned, gently tapping on the wooden structure before her.

She had been greatly anticipating this evening. It had been a long time since she had dinner with someone, and her etiquette were a little rusty. She straightened her clothes gently, looking over to Nalira and placing a hand on her shoulder. With her free hand, she smoothed down Nalira's hair, sighing heavily.

Nalira was quite the contrary, she was rather excited about the dinner plans. A smile was present on her features, which was rare considering the previous events. They would both get quite a shock, because Nalira didn't look like herself. She had man-short, dirty blonde hair that stuck up every which way, and her eyes were no longer a rich amber, they were a dull green tinged with brown.

She certainly did look different.

Khia's ears perked as he caught his friend's scent, and her mother's - something smelled different from the last time he'd seen his friend. Still, he vaulted up off the floor where he'd been lazing about, and scrambled to open the door. "Welcome to the Manor!" His thick tail swished behind him and he made a sweeping gesture towards the inside hall.

He noticed Nalira's eyes, and his own crimson ones narrowed a little - what had done that? Khia didn't mean to be rude, but he moved past Lemon to take Nalira's hand. "C'mon...table's over this way...dinner's almost done."

If his friend couldn't see, then today he'd be her eyes.

When the kitsune heard his son greeting the guests, he peeked his head out of the kitchen, waving to Lemon. "Don't be shy, this place only looks grand - it's run down...go right into the kitchen...." His tail swished happily, there was only brining the food into the dining room to finish, and then they could enjoy their meal.

But...was something up with Nala's eyes? The healer in him could feel it -she was blind?! What!? "Uh...acutally, Lemon...would you mind helping me for a second?" The fox was NOT a subtle creature..not at all....

Outside, several horse-sized lupine creatures prowled - the Lupix, afterwhich the Sanctuary was named for. Dangerous, but fully under Syrie's command; they'd not attack without instruction...generally.

Lemonlime stood aside for Khia to get through, looking around in awe. It may have been run down, but to her it was beautiful. She registered his instruction rather delayed, then shook her head, finally realizing what Syrie had said.

"Oh, right, sure .. coming." She said hastily, moving over to the kitchen quickly, smiling at Syrie politely. She flicked her hair behind her ears, a pleasant aroma reaching her nose.

"Mmm. What was it that you wanted, Syrie?" She asked gently, her gaze meeting his.

Nalira took Khia's hand gratefully, letting him lead her to the table, stumbling occasionaly. She felt a little uneasy, sencing a type of canine somewhere near the house. She shuddered, shaking it from her mind. She didn't want to think about dogs, not tonight, tonight was for happiness ..

"Nice to see you too, Khia." Nalira muttered sarcastically with a slight humour to her voice.

Syrie smiled and greeted Lemon warmly - and then he glanced over at the kids. "Lemon...what...happened to Nalira...?" He mumured softly; not wanting to make a big thing of Nalira's blindness. It wasn't a big thing, but he was a kitsune, and naturally curious...

The shapeshifter could sense his friend's upset, and though he could appreciate her sarcasm, he wished it weren't necessary. "Want me to send them away?" It was good to see Nala, even if she looked so different.

"I almost didn't recognise you...good thing your scent doesn't change much." He gently squeezed her hand as he led her to her chair, helping seat the bottle blond without making it seem like he was doing her a favor. In his eyes, he wasn't. Nala was Nala - blind or not. She was strong, being blind didn't change that.

Lemone shifted on her feet, looking over to the two Tales. She sighed, looking back to Syrie.

"I wish I could tell you. She can't remember anything, only hands that she describes as grasping, clawing and groping." She trailed off slightly, her shoulders hunched. Nalira went through so much, she wished she could just lead an easy life ..

She slumped into the chair, smiling over in his direction assuming he haden't moved. She placed her hands on the table, steadying herself, letting out a soft breath.

"You don't have to send them away, as long as they don't hurt me, I'll be fine .." She shifted uncomfortably in her seat, analyzing his words in her head. He almost didn't recognize her? Was that a good or bad thing?

"Lemon dyed my hair, and cut it really short. She thinks it will help throw the wolves off my scent, I don't know why she decided to do that now though, she could have done this ages ago. Well, anyway, I guess I would look a little different, no?" She smiled sheepishly, shrugging and running her hand tenderly through her hair. It certainly felt different.

"Hn....such a horrible thing... Nalira's been through so much...." Syrie's thought's echo'd Lemon's - he wished the girl's life could be easier...that she didn't have to go through so much tragedy.

"Well, let's get dinner to them...I hope you're hungry...there's plenty to eat - Khia's a bottomless pit." The dinner was more like a banquet, mostly because of the way Khia ate everything - so there were several kinds of meat, some still slightly bleeding O_o;; Plenty of greens too, and breads and fruits.

When he went all out, he went all out.

Khia settled into a chair next to Nalira, chuckling a bit. "Yeah, you're hair is brighter than before...and so short...Looks good though. Just wasn't expecting it." He reached out slowly to touch her hair; it was pretty, not quite as pretty to him as her natural color, but still very pretty.

Short hair suited her. "I'll send 'em away...they get kinda...rambunctious..." Luckily for him, he didn't have to go outside to send them away - like Syrie, he had a link with them, and could banish the prowling Lupii with a thought. Except Heka - Syrie's bonded. She protected the Sanctuary, and that was that.

Lemonlime sighed, nodding slightly. She eyed the food hungrily, feeling her stomach talk to her in disgust. She slowly followed Syrie out, taking a seat near Nalira, smiling over to Khia.

"How are you today, Khia?" She asked politely, folding her hands infront of her neatly.

Nalira smiled gratefully at Khia, enjoying the gentle petting she recieved. She leant back in her chair, clutching onto the table to balance herself, hearing Lemonlime approach the table. She let the chair fall down to earth with a loud clunk, shaking her head, smiling sheepishly.

She made a face, the appealing aroma of Syrie's food wafting over to her. Her stomach complained angrily, causing Nalira to chuckle.

Syrie chuckled a little at Lemon's rather talkative stomach. "I see you brought your appetite...good, 'cause I made a lot." He carried out a tray laden with food and set it out on the table as the woman took her seat. "I'll be right back with more..." His fluffy russet toned tail flicked behind him as he went back for another tray. Khia ate a lot, so he was fully prepared - everyone could have their fill...even his bottomless-pit-for-a-stomach son!

"Oh, I'm just fine...how're you?" He had manners...sort of. His manners were excellent for a half-feral creature like Khia. His long silky black tail curled itself around one of his chair legs, and he chuffed softly in Nalira's direction. "Your stomach's as loud as mine, Nala." He grimaced a bit - his sort of grin - but quickly stiffled it because he didn't want to frighten Lemon.

As soon as Syrie set the food on the table, Khia was murmuring under his breath about what there was to eat, he knew Nala's sensitive ears would pick up his words - Syrie had done the same thing for him when he was first out of the Tome, when he'd been practically blind. All he'd done was indicated what he'd wanted.

It wasn't charity on his part either. Nalira was a good friend, and so he was trying!

Syrie picked up his son's words, and almost smiled - he'd done the same thing for a tiny, ball-of-fluff Khia, so long ago. He wriggled his ears a bit, and looked over at Lemon. "Help yourselves and don't be shy...trust me, I made plenty...."

Lemonlime smiled, slowly reaching out and grabbing a variety of different food and piling it on her plate. She looked over to Khia, nodding, grabbing a knife and fork in her hands.

"I'm great, thank you for asking." She replied. She then mindlessly started to shovel food into her mouth. Not in an unpleasant way, but she certainly was hungry.

Nalira grimaced slightly, unable to see the food that was in front of her. She smirked at Khia's words, giving him a gentle nudge on the table with her foot.

Lemon glanced up, realizing that Nalira couldn't see the food in front of her. She swallowed the food in her mouth, looking up to Khia hopefully.

"Oh, Khia? Could you please help Nalira with her food?" She glanced over to her daughter, wincing slightly as a disgruntled look came over her face. She was only trying to help.

Nalira sneered slightly. It wasn't that she didn't want help, she just didn't' want to be a bother to Khia. She looked over to Khia, wincing, flashing him a nervous smile.

"I'm sorry .." She whispered, shifting uncomfortably in her chair.

The kitsune smiled at Lemon's ravinous behaviour - it pleased him that she liked the food, and that she was comfortable enough with him and his son to just dig in. It wasn't like he himself had any special manners!

Syrie filled his plate, and left Nalira to Khia - his son would take care of her without being asked; they were friends, and that's what friends were for - it was something the slender kitsune had tried very hard to instill into the boy.

"I take it the food is good?"

The nudge under the table made his brows quirk quizzically, but he sort of got it - even before Lemon asked him to help. "Of course I will."

He snorted a little, and then fluffed his tail up - he wasn't going to feed his friend, but he'd cut things down and tell her where they were on the plate! Doing everything for her wouldn't be good for her...and Khia knew his friend well enough to know she'd hate that.

The shapeshifter explained food and drink positions as though the plate were a clock, gently taking his friend's hand and giving her the fork.
