To tell you the truth.... I wouldn't agree! Keji Ifune (i think i spelt that wrong)and his co-workers made all of the rockman series and I don't think they would base it off of that.....
Besides..........When was this published? Rockman I think was 1987....

Just because two things are similar doesn't mean one was copied off of another. More likely it's because the characters were designed to fill similar roles. For some reason, most characters just work better if they are comparable to some stereotype of that role. For example, anti-heroes tend to be a bit emo. They also tend to wear dark clothing and wield power that is somehow rooted in darkness or evil. Lucian from Lunar Knights and Sabata from Boktai both fit this description more or less.

That's kinda impossible Gridman came out around 1993 were as .EXE came out around 2000. Silenfoot Just because two things are similar doesn't mean one was copied off of another. I don't think that is what Nike meant, I can see where you would get basic archetypes like Master chief and that doom character and game play. I think what Nike was saying was that the idea behind .EXE came from this show.

I suppose that's possible. I've never seen the show in question, so I couldn't really say.

This is all too confusing! But, you know what? I think people, for a long time, have gotten ideas about virtual people in computers that actually hear and respond to you..... maybe they both had the same idea and never knew it?
