Correction, Superman is INCREDIBLY resistant to mental attacks. Maxwell Lord found a flaw in his psyche, caused by Superman's guilt over killing the Phantom Zone criminals and spent YEARS developing his own power over it to create the kind of control he exhibitted early in Infinite Crisis.
