"Y-yes, thank you!" RuiZhi carefully took the item that Dante handed him, tucking it safely into the folds of his sash. "I'll take good care of these, I promise! Thank you." He didn't know how to express his gratitude to the man for trusting in him, and believe in him enough to lend the boy such remarkable materials. "I hope...maybe...I can help you in time. Where can I view the models?" His hand absently cupped his sash, his curiosity very obvious in his wide eyes.
As if in response to his hand so near by, his stomach uttered a pathetic growl. RuiZhi suddenly remembered the rest of the world outside the litte room, realizing that all his questions and inquiries had no place taking the Professor's whole evening. He smiled a little, murmuring, "I'm sorry for taking your time...I know you're busy." He started to collect the books, looking for where to enter his name.

"You can view it here or in any of the other rooms that have a holograph similar to this," Dante explained. "I have faith you will take care of the books--they are open to any student and I have more than one copy. For now you can keep them until all the other copies have been rented out, and then I usually ask that you return it within a week so that another student may look at it. I will ask, however, that you be careful with the disk. I haven't had time to make 'upbacks' as humans call them."

RuiZhi nodded his head quickly, gathering the books into his arms like babies. "I will be careful. I-is it okay if I take notes? Then I can return them...more quickly." He was starting to falter on his English again, barely able to contain himself. If he could get a head start on his studies and understanding the fine balance of Science and Magic...! The boy shivered with delight, hugging the tomes to his chest protectively, still mindful of the disk in his sash. "I'll make sure no one see's it. I wont let you down."
RuiZhi was bristling with energy; sleep wasn't even a notion in his head. The first thing he wanted to do was read the book with the pictures, and then observe the model himself. He knew being restful wasn't an option until some of his curiosity was saited.

Dante sighed and shook his head. "I doubt you will." he said. "I tried to create courses that bridged the gap between the two and showed how they were more interconnected--in the end, the Board of Approval turned me down." He sighed, shook his head and placed the remaining books back on the shelf. "But they didn't say anything about me giving such resources to a student," he said, "and letting them figure out ways on their own."

RuiZhi agreed with the Professor, clutching the books. "I will be studying Science," he remarked quietly, his thumb absently caressing one of the covers to the books, "b-but...would the Headmaster..." The boy pursed his lips, thinking. "Maybe I can take both? I can try to talk to the Headmaster...and if he says no, then...then I'll go through school twice!" RuiZhi's expression became almost defiant. He was embarrassed to have said these things in front of a teacher, even more so to have compromised the Professor, but there was no stopping him when he got on a subject he firmly believed in.
"I don't want to rely on just one," he said stubbornly, ducking his flushed cheeks and watching the other over the rims of his glasses. "I feel I'd be working with only half of the knowledge available to me if I stuck with one side." He bit his lip and fell into an awkward silence, wondering if he'd said too much, maybe being arrogant in the face of a teacher.

Dante wasn't mad; on the contrary, he admired this student's bravery. All of the students'. They were stronger children than he'd imagined...these were not the vapid brats of the centuries ago he remembered. These were bright, alert children that wanted badly to improve the life they had--and this boy dared to dream two dreams. Something he admired.
"Why don't you go through the school first and we'll see from there. But you have an admirable goal, RuiZhi. Continue to work towards it."

RuiZhi flushed with pride at Dante's compliment, ducking his head again. "Th-thank you," he smiled, turning his gaze on the elven man. "You've been a huge inspiration. I wouldn't have even thought to hope for it if you hadn't been so k-kind." That wasn't the word he wanted - kind - but it was all he could think of, he was so overwhelmed. If the Professor had faith in him, he believed he could do anything. Belief was the best thing RuiZhi could receive; he didn't want to disappoint Dante, or himself.

Dante shook his head. "In the end I'm no more or less inspirational than any of the other teachers here," he said, putting the remaining books back in order and taking a seat in front of the holograph. "My purpose is simply to start the ball rolling and give advice. But you are welcome," he said with something of a polite nod, "and I will always be here for those who want or need my help."

RuiZhi frowned, just a little, nodding at Dante. "Thank you, then," he murmured, giving a stiff bow before retreating towards the door. He felt slightly uncomfortable with the Professor's declination of being an inspiration; it struck him as odd, as if the man was lacking in confidence. Maybe a person was no more an inspiration to the person next to them, but how they inspired, and to what lengths...that mattered to RuiZhi.
He took the Professor's turn of interest onto the holograph as his own dismissal, although not in a bad way. The boy was eager to read from the books in his arms, to start his dip into the magic realm with the words upon the pages. RuiZhi paused at the door and, with another polite bow to Dante, disappeared into the hall.
