Tekzoi Yeah, that controversial song by the British band The Prodigy. The lyrics: Smack my b***h up Change my pitch upIs it sexist? Does it promote domestic violence? Or is it harmless? Have you seen the video, directed by Jonas Akerlund? (Warning- it's rather explicit, contains nudity.) Opinions? A twisted, genius video... and the song is mostly harmless, I think.

the lyrics in this song are "change my pitch up, smack my b***h up"
which were originally in a song Give the Drummer Some rapped by Kool Keith...
the words were
"I'm ready And now it's my turn to build Uplift, get swift, then drift Off... and do my own thing Switch up Change my pitch up Smack my b***h up, like a pimp"
it was originally intended to be sarcastic or comical...
I've seen the video, and I'm not sure if the lyrics are meant to be degrating...
I find it a little bit empowering, because through the video you assume its a man, and its like whoa...I don't know what I think about this song, to me its a crazy techno song that I don't really listen to, but freedom of speach so...

I don't think the song or video are sexist at all. I love the video, it's brilliant. I don't like Prodigy as a band that much, but I haven't heard much of their stuff ("Firestarter" and that, I've heard).

I like that song. No, I think it's not sexist. Even boys get called, 'b***h' once in a while so--- no problem there.

allispank I like that song. No, I think it's not sexist. Even boys get called, 'b***h' once in a while so--- no problem there. yea, but the thing is what does the word "b***h" mean today in society...its a degrading word relating to womyn. Its totally unnecessary. The word b***h to me means hateful, degrading, and possibly abusing womyn (yes, this is the way I spell the word, and it is a correct spelling). Asking me about the word b***h is similar to asking a black person about the word ****** or asking a hispanic person about the word s**c, or an asian person about the word c***k... its a word meant to offend.

Opinions? hm. many people think that its some sort of discrimination of womens, but what i think is that, that they got some sort of idea there because its so strong expression that it might be ironic. but that i should ask keith flint himselve. otherwise i love the band and i was also on their concert.

To me, it's not offensive. It's a situation where it's only offensive if you want it to be...just because it says "smack my b***h up" doesn't necassarily mean that they're PROMOTING domestic violence. It's like tone downed a**l c**t. They're obviously not being serious but then people take it as face value and get offended.

I know a few guys who have a male "b***h." I dont think it promotes domestic violence. I just think its a catchy dance song. If someone took it the wrong way it may lead to domestic violence though...

As far as that song is concerned yeah the lyrics could be considered offensive but in all honestly it's a fab song...anyway I'm gonna go see them at the Isle Of Wight Festival this year and I can't wait!!
